Reviews for This Present Darkness
Methinks the Angel is Henry. And I thought that last chapter. And the potion . . . it's essence of Dementor, isn't it? Henry, with his private tutours, would think in an unorthodox way that would baffle most of the formally educated wizarding populace, and certainly said educators.

Hello, kim! Oh, the bathtub scene in Big Fish is soooo romantic, I think, and it wormed its way into this story! I can promise you that you start finding things out next chapter... More will be up soon! Thanks. ~kizzy

Don't tell us that Henry's bracelet is going to be a problem - such as a marker for the next victim, or an evil spell or a potion contained in that innocent-looking little book! It's been said already: a potion base of Dementor essence? It surely has something to do with them! BTW, they shouldn't have waited until tonight before having sex: everyone knows that, when you're trying to figure out a problem, a bit of tension releasing R&R helps to find the solution! Besides, who knows what impediment might come up before they reach the bedroom again... Why didn't Severus explain his deeds to Hermione when she finally asked him? Why prolonging this self-torture? Fools...
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
Hello, Hannah, dear. A potion of Dementor essence... they definitely have something to do with it. So... who has access to Dementors?! Hehe. You know, there are so many people who think that Henry is creepy, lol. He does definitely play an important part in the plot. ;-) And yes, the more sex, the better. Especially as he is leaving (or scheduled to) tomorrow. A bit of tension relief would be best for both of them, as they are both wound so tightly with all of their worries and concerns and problems. Severus is a fool for not telling her. But he does so soon, I really, really promise. Not next chapter, but the one after that!! Thanks, dear. *hugs*

Damn. How are Hermione and Severus going to have a relationship if he remains a convicted murderer and must return to Azakaban in a day? What happened the day of the murders?
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
Well, he does remain a convicted murderer. But does he return to Azkaban? Maybe, maybe not. ;-) That would be kind of difficult for their relationship, wouldn't it? And I am pleased to inform you that you find out what happened on the day of the murders not next chapter, but the next one. Chapter 10. So... soon!! Thanks!!

Fantastic work again...Thanks for the acknowledgement but I am feeling like a house elf at the moment *head desk**headdesk* . Willowbark and Ibuprofen to a lesser extent, are contraindicated where kidney failure/dehydration is an issue...This does not make it incorrect per se, but problematic if not managed by a health professional. My thoughts were - she needed something to reduce his temp fast before the heat liquified his muscles and the resultant myoglobin hit his kidneys... then get as much fluid into him ASAP to flush any myoglobin produced through the kidneys and have him urinate it out (lots). (Muggles would use IV hydration and I'd say a urinary catheter to check output - Interesting prospect having to catheterise Severus Snape....). Disclaimer* It goes without saying doesn't it? - Please consult your usual sources/doctor/physician for appropriate care when unwell/feverish*. Um I'll leave it there. I'm really rambling...Interesting little aside - Snake venom can also have the same effect.Anyway enough of this! -Great story. Great characters and great writing.
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
Snake venom, huh?? Interesting... Who would have thought? Don't feel like a house elf, reets! What I should have done is then send the chapter back to you for further corrections, as I tend to misunderstand things. I will quickly go add this info, and a disclaimer (which is a very good idea!!). Thanks, dear. *hugs*

Aargh... I do love producing cliff-hangers, but I certainly hate to read them ;-) Oh please, tell me that they're going to be all right (and I have strong suspicions towards that Henry character).
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
You do love producing cliff-hangers, and the last one you produced still has me on tenterhooks! More will be up soon, I promise! Sev and Hermione still have a few things ahead of them... Thanks for the review!

Sorry. i re-read the chapter, but i've got to comment on the line 'Severus let out a sound that Hermione could only categorize as a whoop. And yet, Severus Snape did not whoop'. Made me giggle, i wonder what it would sound like hmmmm? Look forward to the next chapter. And YES Ewan McGregor..!
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
Ah, never apologize for reviews! *grins* That line made me giggle as well. Severus whooping, with that deep voice of his. Next chapter will be up soon, depending how chaotic Thanksgiving here is or is not. YES Ewan McGregor, Alan Rickman. *sigh* I'm such a fangirl..

So the base is a soul? That would explain why the potions moves as if it were sentient. Cool. OH how I wish Hermione would have let him take her up against the bedroom wall. That would have been delightfully naughty!!
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
Ah, more about the potion will be explained in the next chappie, and then of course in later chapters. Oh, and I agree with you about the wall... with Henry standing right outside the door... Yes, please! Thanks for the review!

Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)

It was sweet, yet foolish, that he risked his life to stay with her. How can you not love the murdering fool?
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
Amen, friend!! Sweet, foolish. I do love my Snape, in all of his ambiguous, endearing ways. Thanks , deb!

Poor Henry doesnt stand a chance does he? I hope there is some hang over releif in the flat they are both going to need it.
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
Indeed they are!! Poor Henry is right... I am rather fond of him. One of my betas is actually rooting for him over Severus, lol. Thanks for leaving me a review each chapter; I really appreciate it! ~kizzy

I am finding it hard to understand how HErmione could be attracted to a murderer. To me that just seem repellant. I am with Soloman on this one.
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
I completely agree with you, Molly. How could Hermione be attracted/in love with a murderer? This was actually one of the things I wanted to play with in this story-- emotional and moral ambiguities. Because sometimes we yearn for things that we shouldn't. Heart vs. mind-- emotional vs logical. And Hermione is a logical person, and so having her deal with all of these complicated issues is an interesting thing to consider. Don't worry, she has much more ahead of her-- and will soon require Snape to tell her what exactly happened.
Response from MollysSister (Reviewer)
Good I am looking forward to the real story behind the murders. Infurating man to not tell her for so long!!
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
Thank you so much! As this is my first longer story, I was really unsure about posting it... and I am so flattered by all of the wonderful reviews I am getting! Infuriating man indeed! So proud and stubborn... and more than a bit cocky in my story. But *perhaps* those are a few of the reasons we love him so much! You will find out Snape's version of events in a couple of chapters. Does it acquit him? Perhaps, perhaps not... ;) Again with the moral ambiguities!!

I didnt like how Severus got the upper hand away from Hermione so quickly. I would have thought she would keep tighter control on him via the spell? If nothing else she could have ordered him to be civil. I am surprised that she is allowed to leave Snape alone while he is out of prision. That spell must be really strong huh?
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
Yes, Hermione definitely has a bit of a weakness when it comes to Severus... and she is such a strong character in general that she doesn't really know how to handle the situation. And... she trusts Snape. Hence the leaving him alone. There is just a part of her that says 'nope. No way did he murder them.' And then there is the conflicting part of her that says 'Yes, he did obviously, and I need to distance myself from him.' The girl is conflicted, that is for sure! And since I made up the spell... of course it is strong, hehe. :)

He really expected her to visit? To come storming into the prision and demand an explanation? Snape really is delusional. The nice part of me wonders how much he can eat in only 2 days out of prision.
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
He is definitely delusional... I think that the blame for their current situation falls on both of them! Yes, I imagine that he would have to eat very little at least immediately. I also imagine that the food in Azkaban is not exactly filling or... appetizing.

Snape is not denying the 9 murders. This makes me think it wasnt faked. Could he be crazy? Can crazy people analyze potions? What will Soloman say? Okay I'll shut up and just click on the next chapter.
Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
haha. ;) Can crazy people analyze potions? Well, Snape can... and is he crazy? Maybe partly... you'll have to wait until the end!!

Response from kizzy7 (Author of This Present Darkness)
Hello, Molly! mystery-solving Hermione! There is a bit of the detective in her, I think... Yup, our beloved Snape is a bit of an ambiguous character in this! Thanks for the review!

I just found your story and have read all 7 chapters in one sitting. It's very interesting and am looking forward to the hidden factors coming to light. One thing I'm confused on though ... when Severus was first taken to Hermione's flat she gave him permission to be in any room he wanted - except her bedroom. Later that same evening she gave him permission to enter her bedroom - just this one time. So, in this chapter when he carries her off, how is it that he can enter her bedroom? I thought for sure he'd take her to his room.

Glad you enjoyed the little exchange, hehe! Also glad you enjoyed Severus' rant against Henry-- it was my favorite part of the chapter! However... there is more to Henry than Sev gives him credit for, as he will find out. My beta is pretty much in love with Henry, lol! You're welcome for the update, dear. The next chapter is in the queue! ~kizzy

Your cruelty has now found new depths!! Dangling Severus' reason and then snatching it away, shame on you!! LOL Hmmm. So Grayson is interested in Hermione now. And Severus doesn't like him or Solomon. That seems foreboding...
