Reviews for The Varlet
Very nice. I wonder how Ron explained the divorce to everyone. I can't really see Arthur and Molly letting a child go, even if it was a squib. I'm guessing the wake will be interesting. Wonder who will hex Ron first?
Response from Doomspark (Author of The Varlet)
Well - remember that Arthur and Molly are both long dead, courtesy of the war. And yes, Ron's going to have an interesting time explaining things.
You won't believe how happy I am to see this update. I have loved this story from the very first chapter, and this third one only confirms why. The plot and writing is brilliant, you have wonderful characters, I especially love your Argus, and I think your Lavender will be quite likable too.
I also love that it was Severus who brougth Hermione back and that they now treat eachother as the adults they are, the building of a relationship between them are always more interesting to me when they are of equal footing rather than when the age-difference is made out to be a big point between them. I am still hoping for some revenge on Ron, he sure deserves it, but even he will realise that one day his sons will know that he betrayed them and their mother, and probably will even Ron have enough braincells to dread that day.
Again, I am trilled to see that you are back writing, I hope to "see" a lot more of you, both with updates to this story and others, you are a fantastic writer!
I"m liking this so far and look forward to seeing how this develops. I know Hermione will one day stick to Ron big time once the boys magic comes out. *GRINS*

Ron's life is going to get much more interesting...
welcome back! I was excited to find your story updated! Please don't stay away so long!
Your story is off to a brilliant start! A fresh, unique approach to SS/HG. I can't wait to see what you have in store for the twins and for Hogwarts. I've been checking back regularly to see if another chapter has been posted. Please post soon.
With deepest respect for your Muse...
Hello, GeoffI'd discovered 'Future Perfect' and was on the hook. So I decided to read some other of your stories and I've read 'The Varlet' too - and I like it! So there's a prophecy about the twins, eh? What's that supposed to mean: "they come to claim their throne"? Should we take this literally? And Ron's such a bastard in this story! It's hard to believe! Will you give us some explanation for his behaviour - some other than his stupidity?I really hope, you'll update soon.Greetings,

Well - this is my "Ron is an arse" story. For a different view, try Invictus. And if you want to see Harry as a prat, try Catspaws. I like doing different things with various characters. Can't answer your question about the prophecy without giving anything away, so you'll just have to wait. I'm working on the next chapter.
I can not wait for the next chapter. I was very upset to reach the end of this one! I really enjoyed reading and I am looking forward to how everyone reacts to the boys, how Hermione puts the screws to Ron, and what happens between Snape and Hermione!Cheers!
Response from Doomspark (Author of The Varlet)
Oh Ron will get what's coming to him, never fear. This is my "Ron is a prat" tale.
Hmmmm. Ollivander's verification was important, I think, but what's MOST important, I believe, is that the boys can see Hogwarts.
Why do I suspect that Ron is responsible for Remus' death? That rat bastard.
Great start! I can't wait to see what happens next.
I'm glad you're continuing this story -- I've been looking forward to it.
I am completely smitten by this already - terrific plot.
Ooooh, a prophecy! Intriguing! Art would be king, wouldn't he? King Arthur! Haha, very clever *Applauds*
Response from Doomspark (Author of The Varlet)
Actually, I named Art after Arthur Weasley - but I do like the King Arthur bit as well.
Oooo, great prophecy. Can't wait to see what that's all about.
I'm sure Ron will make a scene at the funeral, because all he cares about is himself. Never mind that they're mourning Remus' death.
Oh, that Ron deserves to be turned into a donkey himself! What a jerk. Thank heavens for Snape and his knowlege of the Book's idiosyncracies. I suppose something similar happened to him?
Well, I can't wait for Ron to get his commuppance. And to see how Severus' and Hermione's relationship grows from here.
What extremely interesting circumstances Hermione has found herself in! This dynamic of Ron-Hermione-kids-Snape is already developing its own cliches since bk 7 came out, but your story offers something fresh even in just the first couple of chapters. I'm totally intrigued!
Looks like an interesting story..can't wait for more
Like this one. Glad to see it again.

great chapter. well written. best plot i've seen in a while. thanks. looking forward to the rest.
I'm so excited to see this continued - it's a fantastic beginning.
I am also glad you updated - looking forward for the next. I like the way you portray Hermione and Severus Snape - and you have now several plotlines lined up, hoping for a long story. It is very well written
yay!!! so very glad to see you continuing this story. I too am ready for Ron to get "justice", but I wonder whether Hermione should pursue him for money - I'd rather her retain sole custody of her kids, and fear that him paying her back might buy him shared custody. BTW, who's going to be watching the boys while she is working? they sound like they're about three years old. I like the prophecy at the end, and wonder which child is King and Knight. "varlet" must be Ron - a deceitful and unreliable scoundrel - unless the varlet is whoever killed Remus? and how did Severus miss seeing the symptoms of argent poisoning? I also like the friendlier Filch, and hope he gets a new cat, preferably a half-Kneazel like Crookshanks who can detect wicked critters.
Doomie, it is so good to see you writing again! best wishes to you for a happy 2009.
Definitely a different start! Look forward to more.
King and Knight, forever twined,
King and Knight, by fate unkind,
Birth denied by blood and bone,
Now they come to claim their throne.
Gracious! I got chills when I read this.
And who knew that Severus and Argus were cousins? You did, obviously.
I can tell that I'm going to thoroughly enjoy your story and look forward to your next update. Well done!
Beth
PS- I looked up the definition of varlet just to be sure I knew what the title might refer to, and Lo and Behold! I found the following:
varlet - in medieval times a youth acting as a knight's attendant as the first stage in training for knighthood.
This, coupled with Professor Trelawney's writings (prophesy?) tells me this is going to be a whale of a ride. And I can't wait!
Woohoo!
Excellent start
