TERMS OF USE and SUBMISSION RULES Updated

Circumstances dictated the updating of the Terms of Use. Please have a look as they come into effect immediately. Bottom line, I will not tolerate poor behavior from those who a) know better and b) expect proper behavior from others.
The Submission Rules have also been updated. I have clarified a few points and added a few others. All authors should now feel confident that they know exactly what is expected of a story and the process the administrators follow in the validation process. I have also set in writing the criteria one must meet before becoming a validated author. If there is a point that I missed or something that needs further clarification, comment here and I will fix it immediately.

The Review-A-Thon, May 2013

Loathe as I am to admit it, I must congratulate you on the resounding success of the TPP Review-A-Thon.

When I was first informed that there was a Review-A-Thon running, I wasn’t holding my

breath. But now we’re counting over 3,000 reviews for this month. It seems you’re not as big a bunch of dunderheads as I thought. In light of this accomplishment, I have decided to accept my rightful place among you as a honorary admin.

Now, if you'll excuse me, it has come to my attention that there is a fic hosted on this fine website that involves me and some fluffy bunnies. I must address this situation post haste.

Also, if you could please inform me of what the hell squeeing is, I would be most appreciative.

Reviews -- New Feature

This is more of a safety feature than anything.  I have added something called a captcha to the review area.  This is a code that appears in a colored box and an area where you have to type in the code that you see.  It is not an option.  You must enter it, or your review will not be logged.

Two handy little buttons are right next to the captcha image.  The top one will let you listen to what the captcha says (a voice that says each letter or number for you).  The bottom one will change the image if you can't read it.

This was necessary because I found out the spam reviews are being left by an automated system.  I hope this helps clear up any confusion (I noticed a few people tried to leave a review without typing in the captcha code, and a few who typed it in wrong).  This is a little different, but it'll be fine once we all get the hang of it.

TWO NEW SKINS!!

There are now two other skins besides the default Poetess skin to choose from.

"Goblet" was created around a background pic of the Triwizard Tournament maze that will appear in the movie Goblet of Fire. It is a gorgeous photo; even if you don't choose it as your skin, it is a must see.

The newest skin is called "Professor" and features our beloved Potions Master with quill in hand. It is perfect for all you lovers of Alan Rickman as Severus Snape. I proudly admit that I am one.

There are two ways to choose a new skin. Either change it in your user profile or change it from the main page below the login window. You do not have to be logged in to enjoy a different skin.

IMPROVEMENTS & SNAFUS

SNAFU:

I changed the text sizer again since the one that used cookies was causing a problem. The text sizer is on the main page, the submission rules page, the story pages and the review pages.

Please, if there is a modification that was made and is now missing due to my search for the troublemaker, let me know. I think I found them all.
ATTENTION AUTHORS!! Check out the "View Reviews" and "View Unanswered Reviews" sections. You will now know exactly what chapter was reviewed. This was a modification I created myself after much frustration and confusion over the past few months wondering to what exactly a reviewer was responding. I finally figured it out. *whew*

*New* Beta Directory

All betas and authors in search of a beta, please note:

I have just finished installing a Beta Directory on the archive.  You will notice that there is a link in the footer of the page, as well as a way to access it through the Member/Author Directory.

The profiles list whether or not betas are currently available, how experienced they are and whether they are accredited or not, if they can britpick, if they are comfortable with US or UK English or both, if they prefer stories that stay strictly in canon or not.  There is a place for them to list their preferred ships.  All of this is searchable as well so that authors may find a beta that best matches them and their story.

The betas' profiles can be edited at any time by the beta, so be sure to check frequently if you are looking at a particular beta.  And if you are interested in contacting a beta, you can do it directly through the directory.

I know this is brand new, so it will take some time to grow.  If you know of any betas, I would greatly appreciate it if you could ask them to fill out a profile (and register if need be). 

I did this because we have been insisting that stories be betaed before being submitted.  The Petulant Poetess does not offer a beta service, so I figure the next best thing was to help pair authors with betas. 

Server Maintenance

Some maintenance will be done on our server to make some hardware changes on Thursday May 8, 2008.  Our host plans on doing this between 10:30 and 12:00 p.m. Mountain Time (GMT -7:00).   Actual downtime for our site should not exceed 15 minutes during that hour and a half.
