Part Three - Dinner
Chapter 3 of 6
lux_astraeaRemus is meeting Hermione's parents for the first time. How he feels, and what happens after. A series of short drabbles. (Higher rating for later chapters.)
ReviewedDisclaimer: I don't own any of these characters. If I did, my name would be J.K. Rowling.
A/N: Inspired by a prompt from my lovely beta shalimar1981. Credit to her for getting it back to me so fast.
Enjoy,
~Lux~
Part Three – Dinner
Having sat down, and begun eating, the difficult questions began. Or so Remus had expected. For the first five minutes or so everyone was silent, concentrating on their food.
“Oh, Mum. I forgot to tell you, I brought the next book you wanted. It’s in my coat pocket. I’ll give it to you later.”
“Thanks, Hermione. I must admit, I’m really rather into them. Isn’t it strange how when I read them, I think of them as fanciful adventures, and yet you had them as your set textbooks in what, your third year?”
“Second,” Hermione replied with a cough.
Remus looked questioningly at her from across the table.
“Erm, Mum’s reading my DADA books from second year,” she answered. His eyebrows rose at that. “Well, it’s hardly likely to do any harm, is it? And they are fanciful stories of adventures that never really happened, Mum, at least not to the author.”
“Ah, a certain Gilderoy Lockhart’s personal biographies, I assume,” Remus said, recalling who had been her teacher that year.
“The one and only,” Hermione replied, a smile on her face.
Both looked at each other, remembering things about the fool of a wizard, then burst out laughing, surprising both Mr and Mrs Granger.
“Sorry, Mum,” Hermione finally managed to get out, gasping for breath. “It’s just he’s so, so….”
“Pompous?” Remus answered for her, dissolving them both into laughter again.
Having recovered from their outburst, they all finished the meal in light chatter and then moved into the living room.
Conversation, unlike Remus’ previous fears, was easygoing and jovial. No ‘What are your intentions towards my daughter?’ type of questions at all. Yet, their love for their daughter showed regardless, and Remus felt that included him, too, in a way.
I love it here, thought Remus.

Well she did have to buy the books for class, might as well let the family get some use out of them!!

True enough. Somehow I think the shop would be reluctant to take them back...

Are Remus' parents alive so he can be embarassed in return?
Response from lux_astraea (Author of A Series of Events)
You know I hadn't thought about that! *has ideas*

I hope to hell Hermione didnt tell her parents he is a dangerous magical creature! that is the kind of thing that can upset a parent straight off!
Response from lux_astraea (Author of A Series of Events)
Well I think she'd be tactful enough to leave that part out until, say, after they're married. :)

If this is your first story ...then welldone you! Most people follow canon pairings or favour HG/SS ( I must admit I'm one of them!)...but reading this Hermione and Remus fit together so well.I think we all secretly hanker after a bit of wolf ! This is a nicely written 'gentle' fic, congrats to you and your beta.I will be waiting for more of the same.
Response from lux_astraea (Author of A Series of Events)
Yes, this was my first story and thank you for your kind words!! I do have a tendency to read/write ss/hg normally but for some reason the plot bunny for this one bit hard and wouldn't let go.
Glad you liked it so much... I really ought to update soon! :)

awwwww so sweet!!! The last line is definitely the clincher!
Response from lux_astraea (Author of A Series of Events)
Yeah, that last line was one I agonised over a little actually. I must have had about six different versions of it at one point. Thanks for taking time to review again!!

HAHAHAHA!!! Too funny! and only a father can embarrass you like that!!! can't wait for more.
Response from lux_astraea (Author of A Series of Events)
It's sort of an unwritten rule to embarrass children. Or so my dad seems to think, the amount of times he's done that kind of thing. I'm glad my childhood nickname isn't that bad though. Thanks for reviewing!
This looks like it going to be very cute. Can't wait for more.

LOL, but my prompt was not very detailed and you managed to write this whole story from that. My respect! :)

Awwww How sweet. A very nice beginning. I look forward to more!
Response from lux_astraea (Author of A Series of Events)
Thank you! More should be up soon!
Awww that was really sweet. I love this story. I'm so glad you updated.
Response from lux_astraea (Author of A Series of Events)
Aww thanks. Yeah, too many RL things happend and it's taken me ages to get round to updating. But that's mostly sorted now so updates won't be as long in coming!~lux-astraea~
I believe I answered him before she did last time. ^.~ But I suppose since she was there in the tub with him and I wasn't, I'll let her Yes take the place of mine. heheI was so tickled to see this update this morning. I LOVE these drabbles. They've all been so sweet. And of course now I must add HAWTT to that description. His need for her to keep repeating herself was cute. I can totally see him needing to "keep" hearing it. And that he was withholding until she did repeat again and again was pretty sneaky of him. At least they both (and WE) got the payoff that was supposed to be. ^.^Just great. Can't wait for After.
Response from lux_astraea (Author of A Series of Events)
Heehee! Thanks for your review! Yup, he was sneaky but at least he stopped'withholding' once she'd said it again for him. ^_^ Thanks for the review, 'After' will be up soon!~lux-astraea~
I knew that she'd say yes. I love how he keeps getting her to say it over and over. I do hope that you are still around and will finish this Series of Events up. I've rather enjoyed it.
That was rather impulsive, wasn't it? Something tells me she won't say no.
Test #1 passed, so lets see how the rest of it goes. Nothing like a 'relaxing' bath after an evening like that. :)
Nice to see that went well and I love that her mom is reading Lockhart's books. I can definitely see Remus and Hermione having a good laugh about him.
Well, so far so good. Of course he hasn't had to say much yet, so that could all change. Love the nickname
Poor Remus. Meeting the parents is hard, moreso when you have a dark secret and are a much older man dating their little girl.
aww... very sweet. hmm... I guess she'll be showing him her answer huh?
Response from lux_astraea (Author of A Series of Events)
Heh, you'll see, you'll see!! Thanks for reviewing ^_^~lux_astraea~

I don't really read this ship, normally. I'm sure that if I did, though, it would be nice. It is a really good story, though.
Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! That you actually read this even though it's not your normal 'ship is a real compliment.
