Harry Potter isn't the only thing to vex Professor Snape. The mysterious granddaughter of a former potions teacher, a dangerous desire for power and forbidden dreams tempt him to make promises he wishes he hadn't. Snape finds himself a pawn between two women and their own dubious ambitions. The story runs parallel with HP and begins the year before he comes to Hogwarts.

Rabid HP fan. Passionate about Snape.
Reviews for Madame Potion
I liked this chapter very much. You did a great job with the memory and the meeting with Mrs. Sparrow. I loved that her "vibes" were getting to him and the way she used it without batting an eyelash to ensure he did her bidding. :) Definitely looking forward to the next chapter.

I find I like Lillyth and enjoyed writing her and even considering her peripherally when she isn't directly included in the chapter. Creating the grandmothers has been enjoyable because it is basically deconstructing Davindra and deciding what characteristics she gets from whom. You can see a facet of Davindra from this small meeting with Lillyth. Not sure how or when she will appear again, but she is tempting to bring back, especially since she can get a rise out of Snape (no pun intended)!
I like this chapter and that it's answered some questions that I had.
You already know how I feel about this chapter, having exchanged emails with me, but I couldn't resist commenting again. I wonder if what happened in that dream has something to do with the grandmother raking her nails across his chest. It seemed that the "dream Davindra" was seeking to do the same. Looking forward to see where this goes.

I hate to sound like JKR and say that more will be explained later and I don't want to give too much away... LOL... But probably the connection between the two would come more from Snape's own mind than any other external influence. Thanks for the thoughts!
hahahaha
i think i like her grandmother.
what house is this girl in?
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Ah...strange no one has asked this! But I do imply it is Ravenclaw and speak more about it in future chapters. However, I've added the word "fellow" to the group of Ravenclaw girls I mention to try to make this a little more clear. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm curious about the grandmothers and what plots are afoot in this chapter. Your Davindra is very interesting so far. I can't help but to feel sorry for her a little, what wit the way the others treat her.
again what is that grandmother up to?
A good chapter. Snape is fighting quite an internal battle; seems he's losing. Nasty little potion he took, too. I'll be interested to see what use he puts it to.
Well this was a great chapter. I love how long it was, and yet it still ended far too quickly. I am quite intrigued here and want to know more about his dreams and what causes them really. Does she feel her 'hold' over him?
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Does she feel her 'hold' over him? My opinion is that she isn't fully aware of her power. Or rather, she doesn't realize that what she has/does is special or different than what anyone else possesses. Madame Collins talked of this in Chpt 3, about her being unable to control her intensity and desires basically because she is too young to as of yet not mastered them. I envision her, though very mature in many ways, in other ways, like a young child who wants something and believes she can attain it simply because it is her wish. I'm not sure it really occurs to her that wanting Snape and having Snape are not appropriate. Thanks for your interest!!
Hey, I don't mind a pickle on the back of his neck. Once I nibble on that a bit, I'll move on to his flesh and give it a bit of a tickle. Teehee.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
I will refrain from any comments regarding "Snape's pickle" or I will be forced to put a warning on my own review!!!
a pickle at the back of his neck? wat??
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Okay, okay...silly mistake....I've fixed it.
I like the way you describe things. And I can tell you that when they were in the library, afraid for their lives, that was just perfect. Even I could "feel" their fear. Nicely done.
Wow. I've just finished this story and I'm in tears. My vocal cords hurt and my chest is tight. I have to go wash my face before my husband asks me what is wrong. While I might have wanted a happy ending, it wouldn't have fit the story. Great job.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Thanks so much for that!! It was very emotional to write, at the last. But for me, Snape lives on no matter what. I really appreciate hearing a review after all these months since I finished it. Thanks again.

I love that we got to see some of Snape's feelings about Potter / Black (the guilt and wondering if he'd done something differently, etc.). I would love to know if he loves Davindra. I think he does. I know he cares, but I can't wait until he finally tells her and realizes how he feels. Her mum and granny's reaction was great. I think they'd be peeved, too. I wonder wtf is going on with Demelza. I was thinking she's been under the Imperius, but I'm not so sure. More soon I hope.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Yes, it is THE big question: does he really love her? Remember when he said that it was a detriment for anyone to love him? I think he probably believes the same of his loving anyone too. So even if he does, he's going to fight it. Love seems like such a weak and useless emotion to him. And I don't think it ever brought him happiness. And isn't Mdm Collins a cagey old beast?! She is fun to write. And I do swear she will only get more interesting as time goes! Thanks for sticking with me though this, Prof SW!
Gee, the conversation between Snape and Nott is priceless!
Pity, only one more chapter for me to read.

Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Nott was fun because we know almost nothing about him outside of a few bits of information from JKR. We know his Dad is a Death Eater and he can see the thestrals. I just had a feeling he was a deep kid.
Wow! It's fascinating to see the story unfold, always keeping close to the storyline JKR has provided us with, but still adding new viewpoints to it. It's like reading bits she has left out of the books so we don't figure Snape out too soon.
I'm so looking forward to when your fic goes beyond book 6 and what your theories will be.
Very well done!
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Thanks!! I think that is why (one of many reasons) Snape is my favorite. There is so little we REALLY know about him. It leaves so much open for debate and imagination. I actually believe several theories could be possible about Snape and his past. But I've had a lot of fun creating this one!
Wow, now we know, where Demelza gets it from. I'm really looking forward to read how our dear Snape is going to keep his controlled act around her, once she's grown up. Tee hee hee.
Sorry that it's taken so long for me to review. I've been swamped lately. This chapter is extremely well written, and I think you did the scene where Snape loses control great justice. I could see his point and how things looked in his mind. He was also driven by jealousy and anger mostly. I'm only wondering how he'll be able to keep from being with her again. I'd say she knows how to push his buttons now, simply needing to give a bloke some attention, and he'll come running her way. *snerk*I am also wondering what her grandmothers would say or if they'll find out or what... And he's going back to Voldemort. It will be interesting to see how he feels about things after that. Some poeple might think that she's a bit young, only sixteen, to be with him in this way, but I remember being sixteen not so long ago, and when that age, we have good heads on our shoulders, if a bit immature, and do think about doing these things. The appeal of an older man is something many younger girls think of (fantasy-wise). For Snape's conscience, I can say he's lucky that she ended up being so welcoming. I think, otherwise, he would have felt really guilty about it--even moreso. Thanks for writing!
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Yes, I'd say they are both calculating people. If no one has figured it out by now, the majority of the reason Davindra ever entertained Draco was to make Snape jealous. Perhaps it had more of an effect than she anticipated, but the end result was not out of her relm of desire. Me at sixteen would have been WAY too young for a relationship like this. But I know of some who it wouldn't be. And I've always tried to paint a picture of Davindra that shows a very non-traditional girl. She is meant to have some very mature traits that make her the way she is and also make the relationship work.Someone asked me if Snape's suspicion was true, about Mdm Collins having the relationship between them planned. I'd say that she had the idea that the pair of them together would be useful to her. But honestly, I don't think she thought that her teenage granddaughter would be as much of a sexual temptation as she has been for Snape. But this too will be of use to her, as we will find out later.*sigh* Thank God for you SW! I wonder if anyone else is even reading! LOL! *sniff*
Sad and traggic ending. I would have liked him to live but understand what you've done. Very well done story. You're to be congradulated
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Thank you! I'm glad you stuck with it and read it all. It really was a sad ending. God knows it got to me. But it did feel like the most "real" ending for them all.

He was picture perfect until the very end.... I will only say this once so you must remember it forever... Le sigh. Brava, bellisima. Portia.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Oh thank you, Portia!! I'm so glad you read and commented. *passes a tissue * You know I wrote that statement of love to her at the very beginning of the creation of the story and I tucked it away until it was time to put it in.

The ending fits the story perfectly in my opinion and the epilogue rounds it off nicely.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Thank you SO much for that! I appreciate that someone liked it (or at least understood how the pieces all needed to fit together in the end).

This was an extraordinarily emotional chapter. I think you captured her feelings beautifully and realistically.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Thank YOU, NSS, for your work on this too. It feels complete now. Very sad to end it, but yet also satisfying and a feeling of accomplishment. To me Snape and Davindra always live on in my heart and my head. Thanks!
I knew Davindra was to be the Vessel! Oh, Madam Collins realaly sunk herself and her garnddaughter in it this time! good chapter.
I loved reading about the year from Severus' perspective. His trying to juggle Davindra and Draco was well written. I understand why he slapped her in the end of the chapter, but that's one hurt she may not recover from.Well written my dear.
