Harry Potter isn't the only thing to vex Professor Snape. The mysterious granddaughter of a former potions teacher, a dangerous desire for power and forbidden dreams tempt him to make promises he wishes he hadn't. Snape finds himself a pawn between two women and their own dubious ambitions. The story runs parallel with HP and begins the year before he comes to Hogwarts.

Reviews for Madame Potion
oh my
Scary draught! I see my son--Draco--is sniffing around Snape's woman.
So long since i was able to read this. catching up now
Bwahahaha! LOL Loved this POV
Whew... this was a good chapter. I wondered how long it would be before he gave in, and he can try to pretend on some level that it's only because he needs info for Dumbledore, but we all know it's what he wants. LOL Whatever became of his date with Umbridge's niece? And just what the hell's going on with Madame Collins. Seems like she's under the Imperius or something. Is Lucius trying to use her to get to Davindra? If so, why? LOL I'm intrigued and want more! :)
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
The so called "date" with Umbridge's niece was never meant to happen! Can't you imagine the niece hearing that her nutty aunt wanted to set her up with some stuffy teacher and probably went, "Ewh, no thanks." And as Snape said, he doesn't date.I'm glad you are enjoying the intrigue. I'm trying to pepper each chapter with enough info that it keeps people interested without being too frustrating or giving too much away. And frankly, I feel almost relieved that Snape and Davindra have finally got on with it too!! Of course he wants it! But he can't really act like it. That wouldn't be "Snape" at all.
Davindra is turning into quite the little Slytherin, isn't she? :) I like how you're weaving the canon into your tale. G ood work.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
You know, I think I've developed a theory that each student has a degree of each house in them. Sort of like when you get your astrological chart done and there is your sun sign that is the "main" sign for you, but you have influences of the other signs depending on where they fall in your planets. Davindra is smart and clever, so that gives her the Ravenclaw attributes (and of course it's a legacy), but she is cunning and crafty like a Slytherin, but without the malicious pranks. Thanks for reviewing!
This is the best story so far. I only beg you to update ASAP!Bec,

I'm glad you like it! Don't worry, the next is on the way!!
This was a great chapter. I liked that Davindra isn't just giving up and giving in. She knows if she wants Severus, she's going to have to fight him all the way over it.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
She's as tenatious as he is and less concerned with pride, so of course she isn't giving up. She's pissed! And who could blame her. Being told you were a mistake, a lapse in judgment! Frankly, he's lucky she didn't try to hex him! Personally, I'm fairly proud of the Snape/Voldemort scene. It wrote easily, which is always a sign that it's fallen into place as it should. Thanks for reading!
I can understand Davi's desire to see him. She's worried, she cares, and she wants reassurances. I'm glad he still has the Vision Well. Madame Collins seems to genuinely love her, and I'm glad that she wouldn't exactly approve of Snape moving in on her granddaughter's goods. She did seem to be pimping her out, just like he'd said before, so that makes me feel a little better about her at least. Finally it seems that Snape's loyalities are with Dumbledore. It's been quite ambiguous thus far. I can only wonder how things go south or how you portray what's to come. The thing about Davi is that now she knows how to drive Snape mad, so I don't know if she's going to stop just because he's told her so. Looking forward to more (start writing!!). :)

Yes, M'am! I always stay a couple chapters ahead. I'm on the last few laps of Chapter 13 right now. You know all these characters have their share of good and bad traits. And each one is fairly self-serving. But that doesn't mean that they are devoid of the capacity to love. I suppose I like painting these characters with all of there extremes showing! As far as Snape's loyalty to Dumbledore, I think just knowing him you can assume that even his good deeds are ambiguous because you are rarely sure why he does them. I like him that way. If Snape had no mystery, he'd be just another man (wizard).
*lets out a hiss of breath*
Wow. Wow wow. I don't even know what to say. That was so powerful. First the way he took her, which I'm not sure how I feel about. The fear that he will do wrong by her, or that she will get pregnant for that, that he'll break her heart... even more so.
Then the final bit. I can't wait to see how you write Severus returning to the Drark Lord and where you take his relationship with Davinda. I hope I don't have to way too long. Like I said, patience is not my forte...
This story really is fantastic, and I applaud you in awe.
Response from Soul Bound (Reviewer)
I forgot to add that when I read the intro of 'Fear' I stuck that song on and listened to it throughout the chapter. It was very fitting and poignant, though I'll always see Max running from the Crashdown with that song going. It's an interesting parallel, I just realized. Don't know if you're a Roswell fan, that was random, I know... lol
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
I'm glad that the BIG scene was not a let down for you. That stuff is harder to write than you think. Of course I don't want to give anything away, but they are both in equal amounts of danger as far as the ramifications of this relationship are concerned. Though Snape might try to always make it look like it is under his control. Don't feel TOO sorry for Davindra, she has her own set of strengths she gets by on. And I can tell you now, I'm not intending on anyone getting pregnant! No, I haven't seen Roswell and didn't know someone else had ever used that song for anything. But I LOVE Sarah McLaghlan. I always say she speaks for me when I don't have the words. I think Fumbling Towards Ecstasy is the most lushy, romantic, beautifully dark, and powerful album. I personally have 3 copies of it. And don't worry, my next chapter is in the hands of my beta! I'd like to maybe have it up by the 21st (Alan Rickman's birthday ) But if not it shouldn't be too long after that. Currently, I'm working on chapter 13. Again, thanks for giving my work a chance and sharing your thoughts!!
*snort* That was too funny. Funny that Severus took it upon himself to threaten Nott into asking her, then threaten him if he goes any further. Interesting that he doesn't feel jealous or threatened, but I wonder how long that will last once he sees her in her lovely robes, on the arm of another... hmmm?
It's only a matter of time now, I'm sure of it. Once again, let me say I'm loving this and am very glad it was reced to me. You're doing a marvelous job, and I'm almost afraid to read the next chapter because it's the last and I know I'm going to want more and have to wait for it.
Patience is not one of my virtues...
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Yeah, poor Nott!! But he was picked for a reason. Snape knew being a Slytherin that he would have more control over Nott than some other boy. Being the control freak that Snape is, he figures if he controls the situation then he won't have to feal jealous about it.
Wow. This is so good. That Demelza is something. I don't trust her. I wonder what she's got up her sleeve. I just hope Severus doesn't sleep with Lillyth. I can only imagine how that would break Davinda's heart. Something's gotta give between them soon... Good grief.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
You know, I've had people from about the first or second chapter say they found Mdm Collins really shifty! I'm sure not saying she isn't!! But her motives are meant to remain unclear for some time. Who is her biggest concern, Davindra or herself? I'd like to keep people wondering about her intentions a little while longer. But I will say that she does love Davindra and no matter what her actions look like, she does have what she believe are the girl's best interest at heart. Doesn't mean SHE'S going to miss out on anything though!!I really like Lillyth. And I haven't totally decided how she is going to come out in this story. Sometimes I think Snape needs a woman a little more forward and cunning than himself to teach him a thing or two about manners!
*whistles* My, they are both in over their heads. I wonder who will crack first...
Yeesh. Rough night for Severus. His feelings of jealousy about other boys lusting after Davindra must be powerful if that scene was among his worst possible moments. This was a great chapter. You handle emotions in your characters very realistically. I am, once again, impressed.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
I think also, what I wanted to convey with that vision was his horror concerning his own feelings and desires. It wasn't just that seeing her with other boys was disturbing, but that he too could be so easily caught up in her seduction. That was probably meant to be the worst part of that nightmare.
Response from Soul Bound (Reviewer)
Yeah. I caught that too. That's been there from the beginning - his fear and disgust with himself for being suceptable to her. Especailly for him, someone who values being totally in control at all times so much. To have his own responses out of his hands would definitely be his worst nightmare.
Ahhh, I see now. This next year should be interesting, particularly with Davinda's amotions in upheaval.
I can't help but be curious what James Potter had to do with that book. This story gets better and better. Moving on!
Oooh. That book is brilliant. You are really good a coming up with bits to intrigue readers. I'm anticipating finding out how Severus uses the knowledge of what he finds about horcruxes when you get to the post HBP timeframe.
I also can't explain why I'm titilated by the idea of him searching for and finding those hidden spells, but I am. Maybe it's the whole burried treasure thing; I'm a sucker for a good treasure hunt.
And it will be interested to see him fall to Davindra's charms. I'm curious about when she'll realize she's doing it and make the choice to do it on purpose because she wants him.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Who wouldn't love to go pawing through all the stockpiles of junk in Hogwarts! Who knows what you'd find. I think I mentioned to someone somewhere that Davindra isn't aware of her "powers" over him. Also she isn't aware that wanting him and having him would be inappropriate! For all her maturity, she does still have the childish trait of "I want it, it's mine!" when it comes to him. But she'll eventually learn, like all us ladies, to use our talents to our best interests!
Wow. I wonder where the dream came from. I'm again impressed, and I can't wait to see what happens from here. Well done!
Ooh, I am intrigued. I wouldn't normally read anything Snape/ofc, but this was reccomentded to me, and I have to say I can see why. You write very well, and the character development is already shaping up to be superb.
I'm off to read the second chapter!
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Thank you so much for giving me a try! I feel confident that the later chapters will impress you much more because I only became a better writer as I went and found more to DO with the story. Please let me know what you think as you go. And thanks again for checking in. If you like it, recommend it to someone else too!
I just love your writing so much. I get lost in it. Even though this one ending up being 28 pages, I found myself wanting more when I finished reading it. I look forward to what's next. I also like that he told Dumbledore what was going on and that he declared himself her protector (even finding her a "good" date!). The kiss she placed on his lips was very sweet. I like that they didn't have any awkwardness after. Great work.
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
I sure appreciate my couple dedicated fans!! I love hearing that I've taken you into the story with me. As I had told you, this has probably been one of my favorite chapters. It came out so easily and I was very happy with each and every scene. I felt like a lot of important background information was given. It was fun creating Snape's history of "romantic" conquests while he was a student.
I liked that Snape went to her father's funeral, and I know that it meant alot to her. I must say that the idea of the Vision Well is cool. I like it very much! Snape had many near misses with the Well (of witnessing anything naughty), but I seriously doubt that it will stop him from looking in again. I can't wait to see what happens next. How will he explain why he didn't go to her? Or will he admit to being near her often? :)
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Luckily, I think all your questions get answered in the next chapter. Hopefully there will be new ones after! I think the Well is very much like one of our own decadent, dirty little luxuries. Like trashy soap operas or eating an entire cheesecake. We keep thinking it's something we don't HAVE to have, but then we always give in to the slightest temptation. We see one too many stupid, predictable plots on TV or get horribly ill from over eating and we think "never again." Well, at least until the next time, that is.
Oh wow... oh wow... <3
Response from Snapekat (Author of Madame Potion)
Thanks! I love these stunned sounding reviews almost as much as the wordy ones. It makes me feel like I've achieved my goal of entrancing the reader.
Response from togspled (Reviewer)
oh yea... defintely entranced
hmmm.... interesting... :)
I think girls will be girls. We've all--most of us anyway--played games with boys/men we like (jealousy thing). I can see her doing this, especially at her age. She's what? 15? Just discovering guys. Uhhuh. I can also feel Snape's horror and fascination with his feelings. And when he started shunning her to preserve himself, I think it was the right thing to do, but I think he's denying his "true" feelings, as much as he hates them. He couldn't destroy the Well (I love that device and can't wait to see it used!) or turn her down when she asked him to be there for her the next year. I'm glad he understands her feelings and their sincerity. Looking forward to more.SW
I'm really enjoying the behind the scenes plot that you have going. It's nice to see it weaved into canon. That was on bad draught that he took. Poor thing. I hope he can come up with something to ease Davi's dad. That would be great.
