Reviews for Dark Roast
So.... is he going to see her in the next chapter then? Good story!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
We'll have to wait and see (but I promise that some interaction is coming soon). Thanks for reviewing!
Wow! That is one powerful scene!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Thank you so much for taking the time to review! :) Glad you enjoyed it.
Just wanted to drop a note to say that I'm enjoying your story so far. I particularly like the way you've portrayed Neville in this chapter. His interaction with Snape was an interesting contrast to the Hogwarts years, but still believable; I could easily see Neville turning out something like this if he ever manages to build a bit more self-confidence.
I also had to chuckle a bit because my hometown has a rather large Italian population, particularly in the West End, where I grew up. One of my childhood friends was a Rossi, so your mention of the name brought back a few amusing memories I'd forgotten I had.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
I am quite attached to Neville and I think that he deserves to be treated with respect in the 'fandom.' I choose to believe he'll turn out a relatively adjusted and self-confident individual. :) Thank you for the truly lovely review.
ohhh!! finally!! one of them is getting off their bums and doing something lol even though he is doing it for Minerva *cough* well written chapter I really liked it :)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
I know - they're both a bit stubborn and take a little *okay a lot* of prodding! :) Thank you for the lovely review! There's still more to come.
He's going to ride to the rescue, but is the charger going to be white or slightly grey?
Loving this.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Thank you so much for the kind review! And while I think that a grey horse is more suited to Snape's personality, a white horse would compliment his black robes fantastically. Don't you agree? :) The next chapter should be up within a week or so.
These last three chapter were great additions to an already enjoyable and compelling fic! Thanks for the update! Cheers!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Thank you so much for the kind review and the compliments. The next chapter should be up within the week. :) All the best!
Great interactions between Neville and Severus. I have always liked Neville. I am glad that you portray him as an intelligent and confident adult.
When will Severus and Hermione meet?
The suspense is AK'ing me!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Thank you! I think that Neville deserves a happy and fulfilled adult life. He needs to be treated with respect! Glad you enjoyed that. Hermione and Severus won't meet for a little while ... but you've only got a few chapters to wait for an encounter. Thanks for reviewing!
I like the way you are developing the characters into their post-Hogwarts, post-war selves. It makes a lot of sense that Neville would come into his own and overcome his fear, that people change much as they go through life-changing experiences and get older. I liked this chapter. And it developed nicely what I'm almost sure is going to happen next.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Are you so sure? ;) Thank you for the lovely review (as always) and for your great work on the chapter.
The story is just like good coffee, the more you make it the better it is. I am thoroughly enjoying your story. The enjoyment increasing with each new chapter. Best wishes.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Thank you so much for the lovely review! :) I'm glad you're enjoying the story - the next chapter is in the queue and should be up for you shortly.
... And the plot thickens. I love the suspense: Will Severus and Hermione finally find themselves in the same place? Will Severus explain to her why he left? Oh, the questions ...
I love it. And all that Slytherin talk too.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
I love all these faces you're able to make on your reviews. :) Thanks for always putting in a kind word for me to see - it's very, very appreciated!
That was beautiful motherly advice. Now I'm waiting for Hermione to act on it. I decided to catch up with this chapter before working on the next one for you. Glad I did, too!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Thank you, m'dear. Glad you enjoyed the chapter! :)
I've just sped through your first 7 chapters. Usually I try to stop and review during the reading, but I was compelled to continue till there were no addtional chapters to read! Your exploration of Hermione and Severus' relationship is well developed and intriguing. I do hope Hermione decides to make the first move, as I fear Severus' honor demands that he remain removed from her, whether he wants to or not. Thanks for sharing such a compelling piece. Cheers!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Thank you so much for such a lovely review! I'm glad that you're enjoying the story. Making a relationship meaningful within 20,000 words is not an easy task, and I'm glad that it's come across. The next chapter is currently in the queue and should be up shortly. :)
gods I love this story I just spent the last 5 minutes crying my eyes out over this chapter, when Daphne mentioned Severus I could just feel HG's heart breaking :( this is the best chappie so far well written and a delight to read :)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Thank you so much for the compliments! It was very emotional to write, as well. Your support is very much appreciated. The next two chapters are currently in the queue - hopefully they'll be up on the site within the next few days! :)
Wow, I had no idea Wikipedia had information on JKR's characters. I'll have to go look.
Nice development of Daphne's character. I was afraid for a moment she was going to tell Hermione to stay away from Ron, but this girl really does have mettle. ;)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Their list is incredibly comprehensive. And I go on just for fun, too ... *blushes*Thank you. I really wanted to make Daphne into a believable, sympathetic character that would make Ron happy (and, of course, bring Severus back into the picture!). Ron gets mistreated in fandom, I think - he's always stuck with bimbos, witches (hem hem), or Lavender ... he deserves someone better if he can't be with Hermione. :) As always, thanks for reading.
Why would you save all children from harm? All over the world children can do evil things. If they are exempt from any counter spell. Then how would you stop them, or at least prevent them from continuing? Also you state in this story Hermione gets sunburnt? In book four there is a balm that clears sunburn within minutes. But takes a Dragon burn longer to heal.Your story is good, and I will keep reading, just thought I would state my opinion.Best wishes, I am now going to read the rest of the chapters.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
I'll go back and take a look in book 4 - thanks for catching that. The next two chapters will be up soon - I hope you continue to enjoy the story!
Ah! How sad ... yet it was a much-needed chapter. Now we know why she is so reluctant to meet with Severus. This was full of emotion ... I could feel Hermione's despair.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Yes - hard to write, but a much needed chapter. Thanks for continuing to review. :)
I want to take Severus and shake some sense into him. He could find a way ... he HAS to find a way to approach her. Darn it!
Off the topic of the plot. I really enjoy your writing style, the way you paint the picture for us so well. I am looking forward to what else you have in store.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Thank you so much for the compliments! On the topic of Severus - I find, rather frequently, that after I finish writing a scene for him I want to just slap him. No idea how that happens.
Ah.... bittersweet. Not unlike dark chocolate.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Dark chocolate, which is definitely what I should name my next fic. That's a superb candy, there! Thanks for reviewing - hope you continue to enjoy the story! :)
Haunted by Snape... *lol* I look forward to reading about how her subconscious remembered the happy times.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Oh come now, who doesn't want to be haunted by Snape? :) Seeing as how chapter three is in the queue, the flashback is mere hours/days away!
Response from notsosaintly (Reviewer)
Haunted by Snape ... hunted by Snape ... taken by Snape ... did I just say that?
Yes, the flashback isn't too far away for me, is it?
I thought I'd read this as an accompaniment to my morning coffee. ;) What I loved most about this chapter ... there were two things. First, I felt as though I were experiencing the sun, wind and sand. You described the scene beautifully. Second, with the description of what Bill and Fleur's daughter went through, you made me feel Hermione's urgency to find the protection against the Cruciatus. I'm eager to read more...
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Thanks so much for the review, and my apologies for getting prompt updates in! Real life is crazy, but now that summer's here I'll enjoy being able to upload the rest of the chapters regularly. Thank you very much for the compliments. :)
Thaz it?? No, no, no.... this will not do! You must write more!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Oh, that's not it. :) There are currently eleven more chapters written, and a few more on the way I'd presume! My apologies on the lack of prompt updates - you'll be getting them more regularly now that summer's here. Thanks for reviewing!
i am curious about her past with him and what happen
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
You'll find out very soon! Thanks for reviewing. :)
awww....I loved that. I was reading it over at MuggleNet and I had just finished the tenth chapter there when I noticed your Author's Note about how it was posted over here. OMG. That story was amazing. Absolutely Amazing. <3
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Dark Roast)
Thank you so much! It's good to know that you enjoyed it. Reviews like this are very rewarding! Thanks for reading & reviewing. :)
LOVED IT. What a perfect ending. I had hoped (and believed) that you wouldn't contrive a squishy ending. "Take this..." is a line to remember and I loved Hermione's well-expressed fury. I've so enjoyed your story, Lady Rhian. Thank you,

! I am so pleased indeed that you enjoyed the ending. ::blushes at the compliments:: You do have an epilogue coming to you... at some point. Whenever my laptop decides to unbreak itself and let me back into Microsoft Word!
