I picked up the Harry Potter fandom around the time the first movie came out and began writing fanfic early 2005 after discovering the adult online community. I identify most closely with the Slytherins and you will see my taste in writing lends me to writing about Slytherins more often than not. In addition to fanfiction, I also make fanvids on the Harry Potter fandom. I'm a Perfect Imagination acredited beta and am willing to help authors. My main 'ship interests are Snape/OC (never really got into the SS/HG pairing) and LM/any female (with HG as a new favorite). I have dabbled in RL/OC and RL/NT and am okay with those pairings. I generally shy away from slash, just not my thing. For updates on my writing, check out my Live Journal

I'm laughing at the fact that she didn't take the house-elf up on its offer, considering her campaining for them as competent beings. The elf might have a better idea than the both of them.
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
Well, I think her thought was that since she had no idea what she was looking for, there wasn't much the elf could help with, after all she is such a know it all that if she didn't know what it was, the elf surely wouldn't. ;) And of course she would want to see what Severus knows. Thanks for reviewing. :)

How, exactly, did Hermione make Severus eat a sandwich he didn't want? Pry his jaws open and force it in? Or maybe a quick Imperius?
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
Quite simply by telling him she wasn't leaving until he ate. Of course, that's not something she can hold over him much longer, is it?
Response from Very Small Prophet (Reviewer)
I sure hope not. She's such a nag.

Another one who questions the morality of Dumbledore! Good! I hated reading DH and having Dumbledore falling from the piedestal I'd built for him - he fell hard, too.I like your milder Snape. Being free from Dumbledore suits him. And I like Hermione as well. Your version of Dumbledore is as strangle-worthe as the one i DH and as cryptic. Well done.I'm looking forward to the Keepings' box.

That really hit hard when you find out more about Dumbledore, doesn't it? Though I was starting to get cracks in the pedestal in HBP, but to see how he used Harry and others over the years without concern for what it did to them hurt. Snape here is milder because he's more or less on the verge of giving up. He's just tired of being used for years and everything he had to go through and he's trying not to get his hopes up too much. Thank you for reviewing and I hope you like the rest of the story, too.

I'm enjoying this very much, especially Hermione giving it to Dumbledore. I'm curious about her statement about love. Hopefully we learn more about that later.
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
I'm glad you are enjoying this. Dumbledore really did deserve that tongue lashing for all he did over the years (not just to Harry, but to everyone he used). As to her statement about love, I hope you'll understand that more as the story progresses. She is highly frustrated with him and in a very contrary mood. ;) Thank you for reviewing.

I could throttle this version of Dumbledore! Hermione handled him well though... will there be more chapters for her to find this keepings box?
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
Dumbledore grew more and more exasperating as the series went on and I really do think that after 7th year she would have really changed her view on him, especially with some of Rita's revelations - which she would realize there would be some embellishment, but her innocence filter is gone now. More chapters will be coming. I'm planning on this being 8 chapters long. The next one will be in the next day or so.
Response from anoesis (Reviewer)
Oh goody, I eagerly await the next update!
And you're write about Dumbledore. Some of his actions were questionable from the very beginning, but by the later books his moral compass was completely skewed.

All that time spent together only for him to disappear the moment they establish the cure works? Something tells me Hermione won't stand for that sort of nonsense.
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
If you haven't seen the next chapter, it's up now, so you can see her reaction to his behavior. He's just so unsure of where he fits in now. Very foreign territory for him. Thanks for your review.

I love the ideas that people came up with after HBP and this is an intriguing opener! I'll be interested to see where this goes :)
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
I'm glad you are enjoying it so far. While this one is set after the war, I wrote this before DH came out (or the main concept of it), so the events of her 7th year happened differently. He was never bit by Nagini and thus never shared his memories with Harry. I did adopt some events that did not interfere with my original concept, which will become clear in the story.

So, was he keeping the info while waiting to be sure that the person who found it would truly believe in Severus. I mean, I can see a person who hates Snape simply destroying the evidence, so that makes sense.I can't wait for the next chapter!
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
Albus being Albus couldn't make anything straightforward or simple. As you said, he had to conceal evidence in such a way that only the right person could find it. Thank you for reviewing.

Yay! It worked. Hmmm.. I'm not sure if I should be more upset with Albus or Minerva. If Dumbledore didn't tell her, then I just hate him more than ever. If he did, then this Minerva is not one I care for. ;)
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
Being the conniving sneak Dumbledore is, he did not reveal this information to Minerva, because she wouldn't have been able to do anything with it. You'll see more about why in future chapters. More of his things have to be done at the proper time no matter what sort of suffering waiting until then brings. Infuriating man, isn't he?

I'm feeling bad for our poor Snape... but I'm intrigued.
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
I know. He gets the short end of the stick. It's so disheartening in the beginning how he starts to argue his case with her only to give up because he knows it's futile. Hopefully he can find some glimmer of hope to hang onto.

Hmmmph. Dumbledore. Never straight forward with Dumbledore. Thank you for another great chapter!
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
You really don't get one from him, do you? I mean who else would send a 17 year old wizard off on some sort of hopeless quest with very little preparation, not to mention not telling him the fact that you were going to die? Among a multitude of other things. The old bat probably didn't expect Severus to survive. I'm glad you are enjoying it and thanks for the review.

"You must find the keepings box," he said simply with his hands clasped on his lap.Oh my achin' back! Dumbledore can be so infuriating. I can't imagine why he would think that Severus would have preferred to spend the rest of his life in Azkaban. Or now that he has been pardoned, why living his life as the recipient of derision and condemnation would appeal to him.I'm assuming that a keepings box is like a hope chest. And I hope that Hermione and Severus can find Dumbledore's. Room of Requirement, anyone? But that would be too simple... yet Albus hadn't expected all of this things to be scattered to the winds... so I just sit here and bite my nails until the next update posts. Thank you for this interesting chapter!Beth
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
He's infuriating, even as a portrait, isn't he? Something tells me the old man was a bit surprised that Severus actually survived. I was going to say better hope it wasn't in the Room of Requirement is one option since this was written pre-DH and selectively complies with it, but you'll just have to see.

Well, how kind of him to divulge this bit of information AFTER his possessions have possibly been irretrievably removed. And just what the heck is a Keeping Box? Will he be magnamonius enough to at least describe it? ::sighs:: Yeah, I know, just a literary character, just a story... LOL!
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
Well, this is Dumbledore... When did he ever make anything easy? ;) As to answering your question, you'll need to wait until the next chapter to see how magnanamous he'll be.

Ooh things are moving. People cured. Hermione doubting. Severus (supposedly) free. Only one problem I see....no more chapters.
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
More chapters are coming. This story is mostly finished, so chapters should be coming every 3-4 days or so. Just putting a few finishing touches on it. Thank you for reviewing.

Good start. Hermione is channeling her inner B-witch. Poor Snape. Always gets the bad end of things.
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
Well, this is Snape so Hermione has to assert herself. Both to show him his place to to exorcise her own demons. And yes, poor Snape really did seem to always get the bad end of things. Hopefully you find this end less bad than what JKR did to him.

Excellent chapter! Snape is still being manipulative, although I can't say I blame him. And Hermione doesn't suspect. I'm interested to see where this goes now.
Response from phoenix (Author of Work Release)
Of course Snape is manipulative, it's in his nature. ;) And being paired with the greatest champion of the underdogs, how could he resist. LOL I hope you enjoy the rest of it and thanks for reviewing.

This sweet tale with a HEA is just what I needed on this gloomy morning. So glad I stumbled across this today.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks for giving Severus a better end.
Thank you for finishing this wonderful story. I love how realistic it feels. I've enjoyed stories where everyone gets along and lives HEA but here the finale seems more real. I loved your characterizations for everyone and how challenging you made getting to the ending. I miss seeing what happened to Crookshanks but we can't have everything! Well done!
I absolutely loved the story, than kyou so much for writing and sharing.
Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun writing it and 'correcting' what I see as a wrong.
Oh, Phoenix! This is just the kind of ending I was hoping for. I do love me some HEA, and you've provided that in spades.
I'm very glad Hermione told Harry and Ron that their opinions about she and Severus being together was a non-starter. She made the right decision for HERSELFand SEVERUS.
I'm already hoping that they will be able to find replacement books for the ones the Ministry confiscated (and no doubt destroyed). I can already see the magnificent greenhouse they will have.
And I'm really grateful you came back to finish this truly, madly, deeply, lovely story. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Beth
Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm glad that I finally got motivated to finish it. I figured Harry and Ron would be big on hanging onto grudges based on their past behavior. And of course both of them were really anti-Snape, so that helps. Now that the war is over and she has found someone who appreciates her intellect without trying to benefit from it by not doing their homework, I think she would be more prone to come out of her shell and stand up to them. They will live a long and happy life brewing amazing potions with many homegrown items.
I am totally delighted with the outcome of Severus' new hearing before the Wizengamot! And I'm still horrified with Harry's and Ron's behavior. However, despite their behavoir there is a tonne of good news here to warm my heart:
"There is perhaps a special witch in my life who I would like to get to know better."
"I think she would like to get to know you better, too."
Thank you for this!!!
Beth
Author's Response: Thanks. I really had a lot of fun with this one and the highs and lows in it. Amazing how much the right evidence can change the outcome of a hearing.
Oh my goodness! I do remember this cliffie...
And I can't wait to get to the next chapter.
Beth
Author's Response: I love cliffies. <eg> as the emojis don't work on my iPad. I think the next chapter has some of my favorite scenes that I have written.
I like the way this chapter has gone, and while I can't recall exactly what's going to happen next, I'm looking forward to find out in this next chapter.
I'm glad Severus kissed her.
Beth
Author's Response: Thanks. Funny thing is, when I was going back through this, I couldn't remember either. LOL I think that kiss was definitely a much needed moment and real emotional growth on his part.
I'm glad Hermione and Severus found a path to sharing parts of their earlier lives with each other. Whether he meant to or not, somehow Dumbledore bumbled his way into helping them learn more about themselves and each other.Great chappie!
Beth
Author's Response: Nothing quite like Dumbledore continuing his meddling ways from the grave, is there?
