Ending up as one of the more prominent portraits at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a dull thing indeed, for a former double-spy. But there are ways to amuse oneself when boredom gets the better of you.

I knew that was what he had in mind, sneaky devil.

Nothing like a bit of a Slytherin headmasterly gossip session! :)

*Giggles* Exactly so, and Phineas turnad out to be the worst of the lot, surprisingly.

A much nastier and more sinister version of Albus? Phineas Nigellus is an absolute pussycat compared to Dark Lord Albus Dumbledore, and nobody knows it better than his principal enslaved minion, Severus Snape. Albus's number two minion, Harry Potter, was merely brainwashed so he never did catch on, but Severus has known it ever since he was sixteen.
With Phineas and Severus both in her corner, the Board of Governors doesn't stand a chance against Hermione. :) Thanks for posting, P!hm88

Ya know, I think Phineas Black *really* does like Hermione. ^_^
Response from Pyttan (Author of Framing Hermione)
He does. Who wouldn't like a girl that carried one around in her beaded evening bag? I think Severus might even have some competition here.

Interesting conversation. I like the idea of two of the former headmasters having tea and Phinneas seems to be interested in the goings on that others who came before. Very fun to see the two Slytherins being sneaky.

I'm glad you like it. Phineas get far to little attention in fan fic. or any fic, so this is my way of trying to repair that damage. And thank you, glad to have you along.

He is a sneak, isn't he? At least he tried the direct route first before getting overly sneaky.
Response from Pyttan (Author of Framing Hermione)
He is a sneak, yes. And I love that so much about him.

Oh Severus you sneaky SOB. He really played Neville perfectly, didn't he? Well done.
Response from Pyttan (Author of Framing Hermione)
He did play poor Neville. He is rather skillful at manipulating people isn't he?

Cunning bugger, ain't he? :)

Indeed. And that is why we love him so much. *nods*

LOL. Because, after all, it's not *just* about finding the best leader for Hogwarts, is it? When confronted with the choice between Neville's or Hermione's companionship for the rest of canvassed eternity, the solution was obvious. ;) Well played, professor! I just hope, for the sake of her children, that you're content to wait a while to see your labor bear (still life?) fruit. Thanks for posting, P!hm88

*Giggles* Yes. Severus wants som decent company. And what can he do? He's just a portrait ... Thank you for reading and reviewing. I hope you'll like the rest too.

Aha! Now I spot the 'true love ever after' everyone else probably spotted ten chapters ago. How very devious of Snape. It only remains to be seem whether he'll ascertain an early death as well... ;-)
Response from Pyttan (Author of Framing Hermione)
Very devious indeed, but what can he do? He's only a portrait, after all ... ;)

Neville will be happy being deputy, and will do a wonderful job. Severus is the ultimate Slytherin after all, and will have his own way.
Response from Pyttan (Author of Framing Hermione)
Neville is nice that way: he raises to whatever the task might be ... he would be an excellen head though. But as you say: Severus is getting his own way in this one.

Putty in the hands of a master, Neville was... but in the end, Severus did him a favor, I think.Looking forward to reading more soon!hm88

Severus is playing things close to his chest, as usual. The interviews should be interesting.
R.I.P. Minerva.
Response from Pyttan (Author of Framing Hermione)
I feel terrible about Minerva, but alas, we all grow old and eventually we die. And this time Severus has an agenda all his own ...
Response from mick42 (Reviewer)
Doesn't he always?

*waves hands over crystal ball* I see a revolution in Headmastery looming. Job sharing! :)

Three Gryffindor Heads in a row, with only a single year of a different House tucked in due to extremely abnormal circumstances. It really is a Gryffindor world, isn't it? Sigh!
Those dratted paintings do have loud mouths, don't they? (I'm thinking Violet here LOL). It'll be interesting to see what comes out of the interviews.

Very nice moment they all shared there. I like the reminiscing about the Sorting Hat. I've pictured Neville having that exact conversation with the hat (wrote a drabble about it years ago). Funny about Minerva being expected to go Ravenclaw. So very true about folks coming to the end of their lives and everyone trying to have a last few moments.
Response from Pyttan (Author of Framing Hermione)
I always did imagine that the Sorting Hat might take the opportunity to talk to the students more often than not. And I was always curious about what it might have said to Neville ever since I read that little thing about him having to sit with the hat on for a long while before the Hat finally called out 'Gryffindor'. As far as Minerva goes I could see her coming from a Ravenclaw family and ending up a bit like the Black Sheep of the family but dealing with it quite well. And yes, the living trying to hold on, or maybe trying to get the person dieing to hold on just a bit longer maybe.

I was expecting the offer to Hermione but the one to Neville surprised me. Not that I don't think he could do it, just a surprise. Enjoying the story. Sad about Minierva. Looking forward to more.

I'm glad you are enjoying it. I hope I will surprise you once or twice more before the story ends.

A bittersweet chapter. Glad to see Severus take charge of things. Gruff but he cares.
Response from Pyttan (Author of Framing Hermione)
He does care I think. In his own and somtimes even clumsy way. And I see Severus as a take charge kind of personality. Glad you like that.

My, isn't someone being quite the mysterious one? Is this the beginning of Hermione's path to portraiture? RIP, Minerva. Thanks for posting, P!hm88

He is a bit mysterious at this point, isn't he? I hope you'll like the interviews ... And poor Minerva. I'm still feeling a bit guilty about her. Thank you for reading and reviewing, and I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the story.

Oh, this is a turn. Something tells me he will resolve this very well, and perhaps in the end make Neville headmaster. Just to prove that he has indeed put the past behind him, and because teaching might actually agree more with Hermione. Well, we'll see :)
Response from Pyttan (Author of Framing Hermione)
He will resolve it. And you will see ;). I hope you'll enjoy the interviews.

LOve the last line about Sybill :)
Response from Pyttan (Author of Framing Hermione)
I'm glad you did. I always thought that Sybill, making a happy prediction, would be such a worrying thing. Thank you for reading and reviewing.
