Reviews for You Don't Know Me
You've got to love the way Lucius gets himself out of a potentially embarrassing spot in this chapter!!
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
He's very good at wriggling out of tight spots, is Lucius. Thanks for that.Scar
This is one of my favourite chapters. The bit with Lupin in the Shack was wonderful, the bit in the Three Broomsticks was wonderful. It just gets better and better as it goes along. It's a long time since I read this story and I keep reading bits and thinking--- Oh, I forgot about that. I honestly think I'm enjoying it more on a second reading.Oh and the part where Severus leaves the Infirmary and obliviates Lupin's memory with 'quiet regret' was just what Snape would feel. I could go on and on.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks for that, Steel. It was one of my favourites too. A kind of watershed, so to speak. Thanks again for sticking with it.Scar
And we see James and Peter hatching their plots. I never decided whether James knew exactly who they were and timed those directions accordingly. The heartbreak is horrible here. I feel as bad for Andromeda, shuttled between so many different things, as I do for Snape.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks, Rose. Yes, Andromeda is in as bad, if not a worse position than Severus. He tends to think he's the only one with feelings trampled through the mud though, although he does acknowledge that. I suppose that just makes him human. Thanks againScar
...."it was the day Sirius Black and Severus Snape set aside their adolescent differences completely and embarked on a plan to destroy the Dark Lord that lasted the rest of our lives, and destroyed us both, until we had nothing left fo fight with, and not even on another to turn to" I did not remember those very ominous words from the first read a long time ago, oh my - it is an angsty tale indeed but so wonderfully written that I have to follow it to the bitter end
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks for that.I'm so glad you're sticking with it the whole way through again.Hope you enjoy the rest.Scaranda
poor Lucius, had to dirty his outfit. Voldemort gets more and more scary and mad. Glad tha Sirius and Lupin escaped

If I were Severus I'd go right back for the whisky, he's going to need it.Great work again.

Another great chapter Scaranda. I loved the story of Nicolas Flamel and the stones too.I know I've said it before but I love the way you backtrack so seemlessly to let us know the history. It gives all your stories such depth.Great stuff. Steel

Ted Tonks is the least frightening or offensive person in the canon, but his presence is not good news for Severus at this point. So much going on. Riddle's little tests which Severus ultimately passed but would have been better off failing, the Blacks scattered to the winds, and Lucius on the run.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks so much for that, Rose. Sorry I'm so remiss with replying just now.Scar
although I have read this before you can still surprise me with the wonderful imagination you posess
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks so much for that.I hope you keep on enjoying it, and that I can still surprise you at the end (I know you haven't read that).Regards and thanks againScar
Somehow I would expect Ethyl to protect Andromeda rather well, but I'm sure it's better if the house wasn't left seemingly empty for just anyone to poke into it.The history of the stones is fantastic. I love the way they work together and apart. The attractions, repulsions, and cravings between them are telling.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks Rose.At this point I suspect everyone, including Dumbledore, is unsure of what, if any, real power Ethel has.As to the stones, the bits are really a bit like broken pieces of one magnet, aren't they? Thanks, as always.Scaranda
This is such a rich chapter.Tom Riddle just becomes more and more menacing, the way you have him speaking is perfect!! You do as good a job on Riddle as you do on Severus.Love it.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks so much for that, Steel.I hope you keep enjoying it.Thanks for all of your support.Scar
a good thing he had the white stone ( and that Riddle did not sense it) Looking forward to learning where Lucius' faith lies and if he has the courage to follow them
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
A good thing indeed,

.More from Lucius very soon. Thanks so much for your support; I value it very much.Scaranda
A lovely job.I love the seamless way you slip back to fill in little bits of everyones history without it breaking up the story. I'm looking forward to Lucius coming in. If I can remember from the first time I read this he plays a big part.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks, Steel. Lucius will be along directly; after all, we can't keep a good Malfoy down for long, can we?Thanks, as always, for your support.Scar
You do such a lovely job here of showing how both sides just barely trust Snape. Meanwhile, something comes to hand and another thing slips away... as if by magic. It's as if he was getting help.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks, Rose, as always. That's really the crux of Severus's problems though, isn't it? He doesn't really trust anyone (not yet anyway), and no one is quite sure of him. Thanks again; your support is wonderful.Scar
Ahhh! That last line from Andromeda! That's both my most and least favorite chapter of the story. It's a testament to the times and place they lived in that people would snatch whatever moments of happiness they could get.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Funny you should say that, Rose, but it was one of the hardest chapters to write. Thanks as alwaysScar
now it starts to be unbearable exiting, on to next chapter
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks for dropping by again again!I hope you enjoyed your holiday too!Scaranda
The Sorting hat bit is all so plausible and i like Dumbledores assertion that there are no true Muggles, and the way you've backed that up with your own facts. Looking forward the next chap. Post soon pls.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks, Steel.I always thought the Hat was worthy of more investigation, and that if it knew some of the future, it should surely know of the past too.I'll be posting every few days.Scar
It's getting darker now. That's what I remember most from the first reading was the way it seemed to slip into a nightmare as Voldemort gathered power. And still there were lighter moments of great banter. I'm loving this even more this time round. By the way you'd better have finished it this time!!!
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
It's finished already, it's finished!Yes, it is getting darker; it was a dark time, after all. Thanks for that.Scar
So in character yet bears no relation to what actually happened. I love the way this is padded out the whole way along. Steel
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
That's the problem when you've been writing fan fiction for as long as I have; you can't remember what's canon, and what's a figment of your own imagination! Thanks again, Steel!Scaranda
I love the way you fill in the history as you go along and always finish each chapter with a little hanger. Great stuff!!
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Glad you're still enjoying it, Steel. No pressure there, asking me for a cliff-hanger every chapter! Thanks as always for dropping by.Scaranda
This being a lazy Sunday, I've finally found the time to delve into this fascinating piece. So well written - I salute your considerable talent and remain eager for more.

Snap. Poor Dumbledore, living out the proverb of having to do himself what he wants done right. Of course he might have chosen better messengers than a witch pregnant with another man's child and a wizard who taunted Snape all through their school days. For someone so smart, sometimes the old man lacks understanding of the world around him. Good information, here, and this time I note the fact that you perhaps deliberately left out Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. However will Snape compose himself for the next interview? There's so much to hide and so much else put on as a garment of fiction... all with the Gryffindor audience in the snapshot.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
It's ever the way of those who consider themselves to be the 'great minds', Rose, isn't it? All brains and totally lacking in common sense, as my grandmother would have put it.Thanks for that, as always. Scaranda.
I like the way you have him act about his Dark Mark. In this story he sort of gets dragged into the Death Eaters by his ankles. It's natural that he has to get used to the very idea of that mark and everything it means after he receives it.I just love picturing the looks on Sirius and Severus's faces as they realize whose relatives Ethyl is. Even Dumbledore seems a bit taken back by her relaxed behavior. That chair I used to have was broken and thrown out years ago. It wasn't the sort of chair a person could actually sit upon... it was more of a perch that you could drape hoop skirts around, and my teenaged sisters didn't understand that. Perching completely suits my mental picture of Ethyl.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
She is just like a little bird, isn't she? Thanks for that, Rose.Next chapter up shortly.Scar
It goes from bad to worse, and he must be doubting their ability to protect Lily when he can't even protect himself.
Response from scaranda (Author of You Don't Know Me)
Thanks, Rose. Sorry I'm so far behind in replying.Scar
Snape splutters so magnificently. Of course he realizes this sort of gathering had to be done, just to get it over with. I think he's most angry that he hadn't thought of the polyjuice himself.
