War is hell, and the aftermath is often the most hellish part of all. Having lost everyone she most loves, Hermione Granger is only a shell of the woman she had been. Devastated by loss and guilt, Hermione draws the attention of Severus Snape with a random utterance.

Oh, you warned us it was short. *haz a sad nao*
Oh, Hermione, Severus will come for you!
Not sure whether she's trying to punish him or herself. Not sure she knows either. :0
Poor Hermione. She is so depressed that she can hardly breathe, let along go out and about. But depression does that to a person, takes away the ability to process emotions, to make a decision. It seems that the only thing she can do is feel depressed and wish she weren't.
I felt a little hope for her when she had actually planned to "make Snape pay" for not coming to her. Taking a sample of his hair from the shower showed that she still had a bit of gumption and actually had a plan.
I was still worried when she crawled under the blankets and hid herself away... ignoring her familiar's need for the food he was used to told me that she was sinking once again. But then she remembered that the next Order meeting was just a week away, and she did not want any of the Weasleys coming to check on her–only Snape. I think it was another small ray of hope that she got herself out of the bed and set and keyed her wards to only Severus.
And now she's back to feeling sorry for herself enough that she has sought out the medications that she'd been given to sleep. Fourteen hours is a long time... I dearly hope that Severus will knock and then let himself in if she doesn't answer the door. That would be a perfect time for him to pack her up and take her home to Spinners End where he can keep an eye on her. But maybe this wouldn't be the right time for him to do something like that... she needs to be able to say aloud the words "Please, I need your help."
A very complicated and powerful chapter you've given us. I'm really looking forward to the next update!

Are we allowing ourselves to be "Owned" by purple potion? Actually, it almost sounds lovely ... almost.
Anything that results in you feeling 'stupid' has just proven that point.
My goodness, I can imagine the door as the last separator.
Oh to have it removed...
Thank you for sharing~Elou
Share some more please???
By God, he'd save one of them, or die trying.
I LOVE reading Snape's pov. And, the fabulous way you've ended the chpt with the knocking turn-about.
I'm beginning to think what Hermione needs is a good swift kick to her arse.
Or the Snape equivelent.
And maybe some chicken soup.
Aaaaaaaaaaaah! Why didn't he just open the door!
*sniffs*
You're a beautiful storyteller Sub.
Your descriptions of Hermione's survivor's guilt/ptsd are heartbreakingly good. *sniffs*
Write faster, k? I'm onto chapt 4.
oh! well, i loved getting to know exactly where hermione is at, both physically and emotionally - but dammit! i want forward movement! i want snape! *pouts*
wow. what a powerful story. thanks so much
Poor Hermione. Her friends are clearly not familiar with the phrase, the road to hell being paved with good intentions.
I hope this story doesn't end with Snape owning her. He knows how it feels to be owned, I hope he helps her stand on her own, beside him.
I'm totally hungry for more.
This chapter brought back to my mind a very distant memory... I was on a school trip and we were supposed to leave for a walk in the afternoon, After lunch I started to feel ill and I went back to my room to lay down a bit. I wanted other people to notice my absence... at the same time, I didn't want to stand up and simply call someone and tell him/her I was sick.
(In the end, the professor came and dragged me out of my room :P)
I´m sorry, i was excited!! at least we know what happened with Hermione :)
Will be Hermione alert when Snape knocks the door??
will Snape knocks the door????!!!
I can´t Wait!! please!! i need moreee!!
OMGOMGOMG It's such a great start!
Argggh! Dammit!!!
I knew I should've waited more than 6 chapters to start reading.
*whinges
Now I'm going to read too fast and catch up. And then, I'll have to WAIT. I knew better than to try and pace myself with Sub.
*shakes head*
wow. Excellent chapter. Her thinking is just not right at this point. It's sad and exasperating. I can't wait to read what happens when Snape arrives.
Response from Subversa (Author of Owned)
It is sad to be in her mind and see what she's putting herself through. It will be interesting to see how (if?) Snape navigates the shoals of Hermione's illness.
GRACIAS!! NO PODIA ESPERAR POR EL SIGUIENTE CAPITULO, NOS TUVISTE MUCHO TIEMPO CASTIGADOS!!
COMO SIEMPRE UN CAPITULO QUE REBAZA LAS ESPECTATIVAS!!
SALUDOS!!
I love these short-ish chapters because they come often.I hate this short-ish chapters because they end too soon. You are killing me.
Response from Subversa (Author of Owned)
I do it because I love you, darling. You know that.
ah, so that's the reason for hermione's retreat from the land of the living...does snape have the courage to knock, to ask permission? i think that's the point of knocking, right? to admit your desire to be in their presence and you don't know whether they will accept you?
Response from Subversa (Author of Owned)
I definitely thing knocking is taking responsibility for your desire to be in the presence of the other person, and yes, it requires taking a risk. Thank you for your comment!
Oh, come on! He still hasn't knocked on the door?
Response from Subversa (Author of Owned)
He's still standing on the doorstep, LOL! This chapter was a flashback, and all of it took place before the events in the previous chapter. They will meet in the next chapter, I promise you.
She is truly ill, isn't she? Poor thing. And Severus didn't really help, she was too far gone for what he had started doing.
Response from Subversa (Author of Owned)
The spark of hope, here, is that she's scheming a little. When you're completely depressed, you don't have the energy for malice, so it's really a bit of improvement for her. She's still very unwell, of course, but I don't want you to completely despair for her.
Intense indeed! Then if he really cared whether she lived or died, he’d come to her. -- oh man. She's going through a myriad of emotions; it's really fascinating to watch. I'm hoping, of course, that Snape comes and checks on her, but I'm equally torn as to whether I'd prefer him *not* to and her to humble herself, acknowledge that he has been instrumental in her care, and go to him for help getting better ... hard to say. Hard to guess. A wonderful chapter, Sub.
Response from Subversa (Author of Owned)
She is putting herself through it, isn't she? And I think most women have had similar thoughts in their lives, if not the disturbed frame of mind to act on those thoughts.Thank you for your continuing support, sweetheart. It means the world to me.
lol, the tables have turned!
i love this new empowered hermione =)
Oh, so now we see that Severus is wounded too and knows how she feels.
This is really quite beautiful, I hope you'll continue it soon.
