When Hermione's safety is threatened by a suspected traitor amongst the Order of the Phoenix, Snape is forced to protect her. As they work together to flush out the traitor and win the war, a new understanding begins to develop.
A response to the long-ago HP Chapter Challenge; HBP and DH ignored (except for the challenge sentences included!).

I'm a forty-something American woman who is addicted to the SSHG pairing, relatively new to this fandom. I'm also considering starting some original fiction soon...
Check out the story I co-wrote with Remarkable -- it's called "Hidden Attractions" and (as soon as it's through the queue) it's archived under the penname remarkable_linlawless.
For those who are interested, I've got two WIPs at my website (which I will eventually post here, but not until I have a complete draft). It's easy and free to join the website, so I hope you'll visit!
I am honored that my story, Witchy Woman, has been selected as a featured story for September 2010. Better yet, this honor came with the very awesome banner at the top of this post!
Here's a couple of banners my friend Atuliel made for the two WIPs at my website:
Reviews for Target
She does know how to use her brain. I think she's impressed him.
Response from linlawless (Author of Target)
Yes, she's very good at puzzling things out. That seems like the sort of thing that would impress him, doesn't it?Thanks for reviewing!
Severus treats Hermione kindly, which is very strange. It also makes me wonder - the way he watches her. Could it be he's intrigued by her?
Response from linlawless (Author of Target)
LOL, I believe he is. Also, I think he's feeling like he can let his guard down a bit during the summer, when no one is really around to see him being nice to her. Thanks for reviewing!
I never did like that darn Percy, he was always to angry.OMG Hermione is thinking about Professor Snape, this could be very interesting.I love this update, and I can't wait for more.
Response from linlawless (Author of Target)
Thanks so much! I always thought Percy's obsession with appearances and his own importance would leave him vulnerable to the wrong kinds of persuasion. Thanks for reviewing!
As much as I don't like to admit it, Severus should benefit greatly from Hermione's research, even if he doesn't like the idea of helping her.
Response from linlawless (Author of Target)
Yeah, he should, hopefully. Thanks for reviewing!
loved that line fron CoS! great update. thanks and smoochies
Response from linlawless (Author of Target)
That line was a bit of a challenge to use, I must say! Glad you were happy with it. Thanks and smoochies back at ya!
I was so glad to see this one update, great work, can't wait for the next one.

Thanks so much! The next chapter is in the queue, so it shouldn't be too long (although my other WIP will be updated first, as it's higher in the queue).I appreciate the review!
Hagrid sure has a knack for coming up with hilariously innocuous-sounding names for large and scary beasties, doesn't he? Anyway, a traitorous Weasley? Oh boy, that's going to make things rather tough, what with Hermione's long friendships with most of that family. On the bright side, it does sound as if Hermione will get to spend plenty of, um... quality time with Severus for the foreseeable future...
Response from linlawless (Author of Target)
Gotta love Hagrid and his sweet, cuddly pets! And yes, a Weasley traitor may make things extra-complicated for Hermione. But yay for quality time! Thanks for commenting!
Lovely. Really. Yes, it might be a Weasley.
Response from linlawless (Author of Target)
Hehe, thank you! I appreciate the review!
Ooo, another promising chapter. It's fascinating to watch Hermione discover other sides to Severus, such as when he handles Hagrid. Yay, research!
Response from linlawless (Author of Target)
Hagrid does have a way of taming savage beasts, doesn't he? And Severus can be as savage as they come, so it seemed like he might react to Hagrid just like other dangerous beings do. Meanwhile, Severus has always struck me as a frustrated intellectual, so a research project seems like the ideal arena for him to forget to keep his guard up. It's gonna be a slow build, though (or as slow as it can be in a nine chapter story! ) Thanks so much for reviewing!
I found that a good way to pass time while waiting and hoping for new updates to the wonderful story "Having Snapes baby" in any archive you decide to repost the story, is to re-read your other stories:-)) This one is perfectly sweet and a I had a great time reading it all over again:-))
Response from linlawless (Author of Target)
Thank you very much -- glad you enjoyed this on re-read. I really *am* going to get back to posting HSB soon -- I've been re-working the earlier chapters a bit because of a plot problem I discovered. It's definitely going to be posted on Archive of Our Own while it's a WIP, and possibly elsewhere, too. Eventually, it will find its way here, too. Thanks again! :)

First let me say that I LOVED the idea behind the prompt. Second, it's ever so awesome how Voldy died. I'm sure the literary Severus is rolling in his ill-got grave in glee!
Response from linlawless (Author of Target)
So glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I like to think Snape would be delighted with this way of taking care of Voldie. And thank you very much for reviewing. :)
Loved it. You made the quotes fit perfectly.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it -- and your English is far better than my Spanish, so you won't get any complaints from me about that! Thanks for the review! :D

Hola¿Cómo estás?Talvez tu puedas ayudarme.

HelloHow are you?Maybe you can help me. Two months ago I read a story that I loved, but I forgot toadd it to my favorites.Hermione travels back and meets periodically with Severus every few years in the past. In the penultimate chapter, in the final battle, Severus is dying, Hermionetries to help him, but Ron appears and prevents that from happening, Severusdied then. Hermione returns to the future but makes one last trip to the past, whenSeverus was a child. She gives him a message and returns home.if you could help me with the name of history or know someone who knows, I would be very grateful.
