Take a headstrong know-it-all and a surly Potions master. Mix thoroughly. Add an accidental discovery, a gift, which is either a blessing or a curse, and top with a unique common trait. Watch out for your cauldron, the combination is explosive!

I'm a 29-year-old from the eastern outskirts of Europe who loves reading, languages, her job and has too much time on her hands for her own good.
Reviews for The Mage
Great start! Poor Hermione, everyone is treating her like some kind of nutcase just for mentioning this book. I like the idea of her affinity for books and this definitely would explain her research skills. Eagerly awaiting the next chapter. :)

Thank you for reading and leaving a note! )) I've had this idea about the book affinity for years now, and now it's taken a form.
What a great first chapter. and this is already on my favorites list. You've set the stage for any number of possible directions the story can take, and I can't wait to find out what happens when Hermione goes to see the Headmaster with Professor MacGonnagal. I hope like all get out that Snape is there, too.Woohoo!Beth
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Aww, thank you! This is very flattering to read. I hope I manage to keep you enticed with further chapters as well.
interesting... definitely different than anything I have read before. I look forward to the next chapter :)

Thank you for letting me know your thoughts! And I'm glad you've enjoyed it so far
This is fantastic! I am really looking forward to reading the updates! I love your Severus and your Hermione, they are both very believable and multifaceted. Great great stuff! THANKS!
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Thank you! I'm glad you found my characters in character, pardon the repetition :) I hope I'll deliver!
Interesting and original beginning. Looking forward to more. Is there a chance that Snape shares this "affinity" and that it leads to access to unique material? Thanks for writing.
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Thank you for reading and letting me know your thoughts. There is chance of that... well.. in a sense :) You'll find out more in the coming chapters. :)
Interesting. Explains why she is so good at research. :)
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Thank you :) There's much more to this, but telling would be spoiling :)) Hope you find further chapters interesting as well.
Hooray! So happy to see this here. You've worked so hard on it. Keep up the wonderful work! I love the uniqueness of your story. Your ideas are wonderful =)
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Aww, but you worked just as hard :)) Let's drink to that, and thank you for being a fantabulous beta!
Interesting. I will reserve judgment until I see how some more chapters play out but this was good in as far as it went. ^_^
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Thank you for reading! I hope the coming chapters won't disappoint :)
This is an intriguing start. As a bibliophile myself, who has made her living in the world of academic and research libraries for many years, I always relate to the bookish, somewhat socially awkward Hermione. And, of course, Snape -- what more can I say there? Anxiously awaiting the next installment.
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Hail to the fellow bibliophile :) I also found Hermione to be one of the most inter esting characters in Potteriana. And, of course, Snape :)) The next chapter is on its way! And thank you for reading and reviewing.
I believe this is one of the best first chapters I've ever read, both in the realm of fanfiction and original literature. I'm absolutely sucked into this brillant storyline and can't wait for the next chapter. I'm guessing from the author's note in the beginning that it is already completely written. If so that is another bonus, knowing that your readers won't have to suffer through any long waits for you to find time to complete the story. I think your premise regarding Hermione's "affinity" with books is original and a fascinating idea. Also the piece of knowledge that she shares in the cross-disiplinarian magical course, as well as the premise McGonagall is teaching, that Hermione responds to are extremely interesting. I can't wait to learn more and I can't wait to find out the role Severus Snape will have in this tale! We already know he is a bibliophile too.
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Thank you for such a heartfelt review! It made my plot bunnis purr (yeah, I know that would be cats but your review achieved it with bunnies) and my Muse sing happy tunes :))I do indeed have the entire story drafted out, just considering adding a few things, then there's a whole matter of polishing it to shine. The next chapter is in the queue already. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
oh noo, poor hermione. It's worse than when Harry spoke parseltongue in front of everyone. :(
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Heee )) At least Harry had some solid proof in his hands, that is, on his tongue :)Thank you for reading.
Very interesting start. I really hope that more than one person (professors especially) will have to eat their words about Hermione reading that book or not. I am very much looking forward to read more.
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
You hope right! :) There will be some serious word-eating in the chapters to come, along with the other stuff. Thank you very muc, I'm glad it is to your liking so far.
Ooo, I cannot wait until the next chapter! The story is very intriguing so far, and with the perfect way your first chapter is setting the scene for the rest of the story, there are unlimited fascinating possibilities that beg to be explored! I'm very eager to find out which path this tale will take!
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Thank you very much for reading :) I hope it will remain just as interesting to you as it moves along.
Are you still working on this story? I think about it often and am looking forward to seeing itt finished.
Obviously Snape was right to be worried about her! Duh Hermione! Tell me the next chapter is coming? I all sorts of curious for what happens next!
It would have been fun if Severus said "cough Fazeem Noorta cough cough" Okay that would be completely out of character. Still I think its funny.
Your Lucius scares the beegees out of me. He is evil evil evil.
Oh thank goodness there is another chapter! Who is Fazeem Noorta? And how come Hermione got a flash of insight from a quill and not a book? Oh and I am upset that the Dodo has to go away. Sad.
I just checked SH to see if you'd updated, and saw a reply to a review that you were only updating here. I'm glad I found you!
Looking forward to seeing what happens next... Is Lucius collecting young Mages? Is he willing to overlook Hermione's blood now? How does this boy figure into it all?
So curious! :)
I love this story! Its so difficult to wait for updates!! ;-)
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
I'm getting there! hang on :) I had re-written the entire half of the story in a bout of whimsy, and I like it much better. I'm going to post the next chapter soon. Thanks!
