Take a headstrong know-it-all and a surly Potions master. Mix thoroughly. Add an accidental discovery, a gift, which is either a blessing or a curse, and top with a unique common trait. Watch out for your cauldron, the combination is explosive!

I'm a 29-year-old from the eastern outskirts of Europe who loves reading, languages, her job and has too much time on her hands for her own good.
Reviews for The Mage
Eee, impenetrable darkness! How exciting, and a lovely cliff hanger. I am enjoying the interactions between Severus and Hermione, the hesitant and fragileness of it is wonderful, and offers beautiful depth. Very much looking forward to the next chapter. Hopefully RL will calm down.

Aww, thanks so much. Your review made me very happy. I think that's exactly what I was aiming at and you worded it awesomely - 'the hesitant fragileness'. I'm glad you're enjoying it!
She's daft... that's the only answer! Now Draco is up to no good too! Can't wait till she knows what her magic is and knows how to control it!
Hot damn! A FAVOR! She's bound herself to do Severus a favor - any favor of his choosing, no less. *rubs hands together* This is going to be good. And perhaps Hermione can study Rules 1 and 2, so she won't make such an error in judgment as to ignore his instructions again. Silly girl.
And while they are continuing her "training" I hope they find out what's gotten up Draco's nose. Could Lucius have read his son the riot act because he isn't a mage? That would probably make him very angry, and of course, Hermione would be his target for passing on his father's ire.
Thanks for this update. I'm looking forward to your next
one!
Beth
Maybe she should have been on the lookout for him. Couldn't the twins train her?
Oh boy! She's in trouble now!
I hope we find out what would have happened had her magic "leaked" out when Draco was threatening her. That should be very interesting.
You can't stop there lol. I hope you post more soon:)
ahaha! that last bit sounds like a world of trouble in Hermione's future... :)
New chapter, yeah! Excellent just as the previous ones. Hermione certainly does silly things when she's tired. I'm very interested to see what more Draco decides to do to gain info. from Hermione. And Severus, we didn't see too much of him in this chapter, but he certainly seems to dominate the chapter anyway (as usual.) Oh, and Lop is great. Looking forward to the next chapter.
Making unknown bargains with the Head of Slytherin. Hmm, she may get more that she expected. :0
What fun! Very intrigueing and exciting. I an ejoying the spooky bits and the humour. Also quite curious to think what Professor Snape is (maybe a protector mage or something.) I love Hermione's personality in this story, her reactions to what she is going through are perfect. I hope we see more of the twins.
Ooh! Fun! Do we have a mental journey coming up? I like your Venla, and the whole wobbliness of everything. Snape is, of course, irritating. If he weren't, he would hardly be himself, would he? It's about a million degrees where I am, so I'm wishing I could have some of Venla's snow, but I'll settle for the next chapter instead!
I definitely thought she'd be a descendant of the Library of Alexandria, with that mentioned in the first part of the chapter and her book affinity. I like the line about silver bells, if they could whisper. I've thought that about other things, and it was really neat to see someone else had a similar idea. I can't wait to see what you do with this...
This is really a refreshing and wonderful story. It's hard waiting for updates!! keep going!!
I'm enjoying this. I love it that Fred and George are mages. Loki mages. LOL. Perfect.

Thank you! I'm very happy to hear you're liking it as it goes along :)
Great story! Looking forward to a new chapter :-)
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
It's on its way :) Thank you for your support.
Someone should warm Hermione that you can get nasty lung diseases hanging around that much bird poop and feathers. Fred and George are awesome, would love a snippet of those two being trained by Snape. She appears to have learned one lesson so far. Is her ability to learn more than she actually reads specific to her or to Mages in general? :)
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
But those are magical owls :) I think she'll be fine! Maybe one day, when this story is all set and done, I'll make a one-shot with Snape and Forge. Those three must have a sizzling chemistry. Thank you for the idea :)I can't tell you more about her mad skillz, except for the fact that it will all be addressed. :) Thank you for your review!
I thought for certain that they would be found out by Lucius and Draco. Hermione should really thank the gods that Professor Snape had placed that tracking nugget on her. She would have been kidnapped if Snape hadn't reached her when he did.And now that Severus seems to know about her meeting with with Forge, she will surely be grilled to within an inch of her life after the meeting with the Midwife.I wonder if Hermione has really learned her lesson: Rule One and Rule Two. For now she seems quite subdued. Snape's disappointment hurt her more than his anger, so maybe she will "straighten up and fly right."Thanks for this exciting chapter, and I can't wait to see what's in store for them next. The Midwife, perhaps?Beth

She is one mixed up witch, isn't she. She's so used to being right, sensible and in charge all the times with the boys, that she applies the same patterns here. Not gonna work :)And yes, we are seeing the Midwife in the coming chapter.Thank you for your continuous support, Beth!
Fred and George were their hilarious selves. Can't wait to see what she learns.
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Thank you! :) She does have a great deal in store for her to learn.
Aaargh! I have this scorching, searing, blistering need to know exactly what kind of Mage Severus is!! And as a further testament to your immense talent as a writer and storyteller, I have to say that I know precisely how Hermione felt just before she began to read the book of Mages in the Owlery – because every time I get an email alerting me to an update of this story, I experience the same emotions, the same powerful draw... I tried to wait to read until after my RL work was finished, but I couldn't last more than 5 minutes before clicking on the link to this fic. I absolutely cannot wait until the next chapter!!
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Aww, your review made me all warm and fuzzy inside. This is so inspiring, thank you so very muc! *hugs*.I promise, we will know their Mage kinds, but it might not happen for a few chapters yet... and... well... um... well, you catch my drift :)Anyways, thank you a gazillion times for your continuous support.
great story, really great. Very different and I'm loving it....added to favs so I don't miss an update

Thank you! I'm really glad to hear you enjoying it :)
But she has to know. Sigh. Oh, my.
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Hermione's a smart girl :) She'll figure it all out. Thanks for reading!
I have been enjoying this story right along, but the little "Forge" (or is it "Gred"?) section made me smile - a lot. I am also glad that you're withholding the type of Mage both Hermione and Snape are. We don't want too much instant gratification, do we? Anxiously awating the next chapter.
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Thank you very much for such a flattering review :) Next chapter is coming, maybe not right up, since there's a waiting list, but its on its way. I'm very glad you liked the Forge part. They were a bit hard to write.
She deserved to be take to task by Snape because of her need to know everything. I knew she was going to get it from Snape and I was right. She really needs to learn to start trusting him. Great Chapter look forward to more.

Fantastic story. I love the dynamics. ;-)

Thank you very much for reading and letting me know you liked it!
Wow! so somehow, Malfoy found out that Hermione was a Mage? Was he going to take her to the Dark Lord like a prize? Oh, how horrible. And Snape saved the day, of course.I loved the bit with Forge. Very much in character.
Response from windwings (Author of The Mage)
Lucius is nothing if not quick and devious ;) But I think he might have his own agenda, which does not necessarily involve the DL. Or does it?Thank you for reading and letting me know your thoughts!
