Hermione and Severus have had little contact with each other since the war ended, but now that they are both stuck attending the 847th Annual Symposium for Potions Academia, that is about to change.

Aww. :)
I'm really enjoying your story. :) I love the dialogue.
I'm really enjoying your story. :)
Wicked clever, the way Severus turned Umber's plot around to bite the slimeball on the arse. Loved it!

Whoa! LOL, I do not envy that poor little plot. How gross! :) Thanks for your thoughts, H.D.
That was not how I saw things going when he called Snape to help him. But, thank goodness things didn't get ugly. I think this wrapped up really nicely, although despite the fact that we can assume they end up together, I would really have liked to see a bit more of the scene at the end in his room. Still, a really nice job!

. Originally, this chapter was just supposed to be the ending scene, and I could really have let fly (although overt sex is not my forte), but the story developed otherwise (to my delight), in a gentle, somewhat teasing, but realistic way. At the end, there were many loose ends for Snape a la Sherlock Holmes to tie up--"Elementary, my dear Granger!", not to mention the actual demonstration. Since we were limited to 2000 words, it got a bit tight. However, I have no trouble at all envisioning the passionate denouement, do you?
Oh, that was so good, except for the end! I don't mean that in a bad way, I just wanted them to really talk about what was going on. And, you know... kiss, declare their love for each other... stuff like that. But I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end. Nicely done.

Yeh, I know, I wanted him to throw her on the bed and smother her with kisses (or vice versa), but I only had about ten words left after putting the chapter thru an absolute wringer. And also, I felt that this particular Severus and this Hermione (as we have written them) would be shyer and more circumspect. I figure most H/S fans can fill in the blanks anyway, and who knows, maybe somebody will (hint, hint) write a satisfying epilogue and post it.
The symposium has aroused an interest in potions that I did not know I had, and I have to ask the obvious burning question that is now in my mind, but your story did not wrap up. "Why can't Wolfsbane be made to taste good?"

An excellent question,

. I shall pass it on to my colleague and team mate, Organic Chemist, who knows a lot about these things. All my werewolf friends await the answer with bated (and doggy) breath.
OH, she really should have discussed the effects of the potion with Severus!
Now I wonder what Umber is playing at.
You did a good job of keeping the reader on edge.
That scum-faced weasel!!! We know what he's using against Hermione. What on earth does he have on Snape that makes him so confident when he called him forward at the presentation? I swear I'll force feed Umber his own Super Serum to get the truth out of him!
Brilliant. Just brilliant :)
Great job!

Oh, gods! If ONE drop did that I cannot imagine what five would do! And I am shocked that Umber called Severus up and not Hermione. What game is he playing at?
Oh, Hermione, you shold have gone straight to Severus after that bout with Umber, but you couldn't, could you? And now it looks like you're both going to pay for it. Severus will be thoroughly humiliated in front of his colleagues, and you will suffer the intense regret of being unable to help him.
She was right to suspect Umber was up to no good. If he asked Sev about his feelings for her that may be very interesting.
On anothere note there's a detail that's bothering me. Hermione said she was 3 days early so her due date should have been the 22nd and not the 16th or she would have been late. Or is it me that understood uncorrectly?
Now that's really interesting. I wonder what's going to happen next.
Plotting on all sides. How ever interesting.
I love Severus. He's so cunning.
I can't wait to see what happens next! Loved the chapter, mate. :) Dun dun dun... hahaha
Ooooh, he's evil.
Very good, waiting on the end
Omg SB! I totally didn't see that coming. I can't wait to see how you guys wrap this up next week. Great Chapter! Much Love ~ Brena
and the plot thickens. i'm very interested to know what that awful man was going on about, and ever more interested to see the two of them put him in his proper place. :)
rules were made to be broken - hee hee!
umber reminds me of umbridge. coincidence? i'm not so sure.
Hermione, Severus, I shake my head at you. I suppose it's good that Severus trusted Hermione to come up with something useful after she'd taken the potion, but I can't see how sending her in there alone, unprepared, and without a back-up plan was the best idea they'd ever had.
I guess there was no other way to get a preview of the potion, but I feel as though it could have been even more unpleasant than it was, and I'm really just glad Hermione made it through relatively unscathed. Her horror and the verbal diarrhea was very well-written.
I had a bad feeling along with Hermione when Umber agreed so readily, and I'll be curious to see if Severus just tells the man to bugger off in the next chapter or if he's got more up his sleeve.
Will it turn out that Umber is just a really creepy matchmaker? LOL Looking forward to the next chapter. ^_^
Smoothly written.
