Hermione and Severus have had little contact with each other since the war ended, but now that they are both stuck attending the 847th Annual Symposium for Potions Academia, that is about to change.

A really lovely ending.
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
Thanks, so much kitty, that's the way I hoped it would make people feel.
Snape was BRILLIANT!!! Perfect ending to a great story!!
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
Wahoo K.P.! You made my day!
Oooooo, wonderful twist!!!!
Drat, that dastardly devious Dwight is drawing dangerously close to our delicious duo!
Very vivid and well-written! And the shared moment of amusement was soooooo perfect!
Aww. That was adorable. The notion of Severus using an Unforgivable to get Umber to choose him rather than Hermione says his feelings louder than just about anything else.I was particularly pleased about the explanation for the bad eggs for breakfast (me being peculiar, I'm sure).I was a little worried about that "-Granger" and am delighted to know that Hermione and Umber aren't related. I'm amused that the audience actually threw things at Umber. Bet it's the most excitement they've had a symposium in ages. ;)Thanks for sharing. ^_^

Thanks for rising... and writing, Phoenix. I'm glad Sev's seemed in character to you. He doesn't express his feelings in words well, but his actions say it all.I just had to have a reason for the eggs making Hermione sick after the food was so good the first night. (I feel sorry for cooks and caterers. They get dumped on a lot.)I remember reading in one of the HP books that Hermione wasn't related to D-G. I didn't really want to use him as Umber's uncle, but he was the only famous canon Potioneer I knew. (I don't like making up new characters if JKR has one ready-made.) So I had to throw in the denial from Hermione for anyone who didn't know that.
Uh oh... perhaps Hermione has had an encounter already with the hyped "Super Serum"?
Oooo!
Very, very intriguing and well-written!
I loved this story. What a great way to end it. Bwahahahaha
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
*Cackles with glee* Yeh, the mystery continues. Will they or won't they? Thanks Southern Witch.
Nice way to end it leaving the way it all plays out to the imagination.

That's right,

. Everybody has a different take on this relationship, and it's nice once in a while to let the ol' imagination take over. Thanks for your thoughts.
Severus is such a sweetheart! What he did for her! Makes me go all AWWWW. I am sure he luvs her, he is just too shy to tell her that! And Umber got what he deserved... I think being hit by a sample cauldron is quite the punishment, eh? Lovely fic, well done!
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
You got it exactly right, Luce, That's how I feel about Severus. He just doesn't know how to talk about his feelings. Hermione will draw him out, I'm sure.Yeh, I love hitting meanies with cauldrons, even if they are the cheap, giveaway variety. Makes a lovely, ringing sound.
By far the best of the Intergalactic Quidditch Cup tales. Witty, well written and well plotted. An enjoyable read. Two thumbs up, though of course you did leave us without the end :)
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
Now, Hermione Jean, you know I couldn't give away all your secrets. ;) Thanks so much for the compliments.
The truth shall set you free! How cute. I really enjoyed this story. It was very cute and well thought out.

Thanks,

, we did have a very thorough plot-outlining session at the beginning, and everyone did a great job of filling it in. My team mates gave me a lot of interesting stuff to work with, so the chapter pretty much wrote itself. The hard part was getting it down to 2000 words.
I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't kiss but still that was a fantastic story that I enjoyed a great deal.
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
Aw, sorry, Snitchette, but, you see, I suck at romance-writing, and with a 2000 word limit and so many other plotlines to get in, I figured all the H/S lovers out there could fill in the blanks... maybe even dream a little dream...
Well this has been fun. In fact I'm sad it is over! Well done.
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
Well, there's the mark of a good short story; you just don't want it to end. But you can always make up sequels in your mind. Hurray for imagination!! Thanks,

Great job. Umber was revealed as the fraud he is, even though the potion worked. And Severus risked so much to protect Hermione. There's still UST, but at least they realize it and can proceed at a normal pace on their terms. Well done.
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
Thanks, for your kind words, C. What's UST? (Or do you mean the L word?
Nice job people, and generally seamless use of your prompt words even though you had some really tricky ones. I thought 'hydrogen sulphide' was going to be a prompt, but perhaps it was an extremely belated response to the 'Snape farting' challenge (to which I've only noticed one response). Now there would be an April 1st quiz topic...
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
Thank you,
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
, from the entire team. Funny how those prompt words just seemed to fit in. I got lucky I guess. A Snape farting challenge? Well, I don't think I'll be writng for that one...
She's not tempted to ask him one teeny, weeny question? Noble woman! :)
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
Yes, that's why I love her so. Thanks for the thought.
Awww, the ending was really sweet and so appropriate. Brilliant chapter - who knew you could include so much in so few words?

(my fave Star Trek character). I've had a lot of practice with condensing chapters. My first-ever fan fic was a series of adventures for Hermione for a contest on Sugar Quill. We had to fill out each plot bunny in 1000 words or less, and there were 12 of them.
Oh way to go Severus! Whoot! The manipulation of Umber worked out perfectly. I really loved that Severus was able to ramble on 'safer' topics. But when he turned the tables on the smuck! I only wish there was another chapter so we can see if they are going to be together now or what? I know its hinted at, but he never said it.I thought in canon Hermione told Slughorn that she wasn't related to the famed potioneer? Did she find out that she was afterall? when?
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
Yeh, I love that word "smuck". Great image, great sound. Sums Umber up perfectly. I was trying to hint that the development of their relationship would be ongoing, and wanted to pique the reader's imagination, and I have to admit, I s--- (rhymes with smuck) at romantic scenes.I'm pretty sure Hermione said she was no relation to D-G in my chapter as well and was relieved not to be because otherwise it would have made her Umber's cousin. (At least, that was my intention.) Thanks for your thoughts, be. Or is it bea?
Response from beaweasley2 (Reviewer)
You hardly s--k! It's jsut dare I say - I wish you had to write another chapter to this cuz I'd love to see the 'morning after' to this set up! bea~
Great story! :)I hope it wins!
Response from Neptune (Author of The Symposium)
**blushes and does happy dance** Thanks, Zuse!!
Ahhh!
I'm really enjoying your story. :)
Sneaky!
