fifty-something happy wife and college mom.
Matchmaker is on a bit of a hiatus. We've had two deaths amongst our closest freinds, my beta is ill, and my mom is in bad health. So it may take me a while to get back to that cheery place where I can write such nonsense. I will finish it though, unless I die, too.
Reviews for Matchmaker
And the fun continues!I thank you so much for doing some more chapter.may the next one follow quicker? please?Soso,Severus simply has to show up more often. wich is of course just to serve the greater good. lol, this is a nice way of double-match-making. nicely done! And who has sent the potpourri? Ginny, but aided by the whole gang? Dracos mother was fun this time. she shows her son how to court. just great. well, some day he has to learn his trade. His father is to busy at the moment. The shopping was very efficient. Will she get these presents now? I wish! ha! and never give them back! that would serve him right.
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thank you sticking with this tale! Real life has been tough, but I am writing the next chapter now.
It was Justin and Micheal that sent the 'potpourri.' and George was happy to sell it to them.
As for the gifts, ettiquette demands that a gentleman never give a lady a gift she would need to return if they 'break up' - although an exception is made after betrothal. Even then, if the betrothal is broken off, the lady ought to return any expensive gifts. (jewelry, real estate, family heirlooms, cars, etc.)
The books are hers to keep.
Life imitates art. Yesterday I had the "proper gifts" conversation with my daughter, reminding her that although she is approaching age 21, that merely makes her an adult- not less of a lady. So she can't take jewelry from guys.
I think she was half hoping I would tell her that the 'books, candy, flowers' rule was only in effect untill majority. I DID tell her that when you marry a guy and later divorce him, you get to keep all jewels given you. But I also pointed out that it was not a good reason to marry somone! (athough for the Malfoy Emeralds.... Hmmm )

Great chapter! I'm rather surprised that Draco is so blind and stupid - but then again, I'm not surprised, all things considered... *giggles* - I wonder how Ginny will react to the shower of goodies raining down over her ;o).
Author's Response: Thank you for sticking with this story and reviwing! I'm writing about Ginny and Neville right now. (Well, a short while ago I was writing about them.) Sorry about my long delays. My mother is ill.
heh! that 'potpourri' took me by surprise. Cissa's dictated letter to Ginny was way over the top and insincere; no subtlety. I hope Severus and Hermione can get some time together, perhaps to 'chaperone' Neville and Ginny. thanks for the update!
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Narcissa is quite sincere in her desire to have Draco marry Ginny. It is her motives that are questionable. Thanks for your review and the pretty stars. I'm delighted you like this!
Oh, I'm so glad you updated, pookah! Narcissa was definitely in character. Snooty wench that she is. Everything seems to be simmering nicely. Can't wait to see what Snape and Hermione plot for Ginny and Neville.
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thanks for being a loyal reader (and reviewer!) I am delighted that you think Narcissa is in character.
Like the stinky pot-pourri! :)
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thanks for reviewing. I like the pot-pourri too. I think the Weasley boys were clever to think up such a thing. Do you suppose they got the idea from the Muggle revenge websites our heroines visited?
Thank you so much for the update, Ginnys revenge was wonderful:-))
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thanks for the review. It wll NOT be so long for the next update! I am delighted that you stuck with me!
ROTFLMAO!!! I just discovered 'Matchmaker' ... I completely LOVE revenge fics, especially when my favorite Slytherin headmaster is involved. I especially can't wait to see Draco's reaction when he finds out about his, erm ... potential paramours-to-be!!!
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thrilled to have a new reader! Thanks for reviewing. I am so happy you are enjoying this little opus.
"potential paramours-to-be" how elegantly phrased!
LOL Oh a house full of the scent of dung! So, is Draco still going to send the gifts?Severus setting you Neville with Ginny, oh, that's rich! Good match, but funny that it's his idea. Good update, doll. Keep 'em rollin'!
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Draco is not one to give up so easily; He will continue to pursue Ginny. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I am so happy you are enjoying this!
Ah, bringing in the big guns with Narcissa. But then there is Circe in the other camp. Very interesting.
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thanks for reviewing. I hadn't originally intended to bring Narciss into the story, but she sort of butted in, and was a joy to write! She has a little diferent motivation than Circe has!
Buahaha, good plotting, boys! Don't ask, can't tell...clever girl Narcissa!
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thanks for reading and reviewing! I'm excited to get a new reader. I'm glad you like the plotting and counter-plotting.
Fake pot pourri? Clever....Narcissa's a hoot! Thanks for bringing her in on this.
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thank you for the r & r. I am so happy you like Narcissa. She was really fun to write. I'm delighted to have another reader! I don't know what made such a thing as horrible potpourri pop into my head, but I am glad you enjoyed it!
Scooter and Libby? That's priceless!!!
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
10 points to your house for noticing. I debated with myself and consulted with my beta before naming them.
Thank you for reading and reviewing! Thanks for the shiny stars! So happy you are enjoying this little opus.
Great chapter, does Ginny know what her gift does?
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thank you for reviewing this! I am so thrilled that you like it.
No, Ginny actually doesn't even know that she 'sent' a gift to Draco. Justin and Michael did it, with help from George and his "Gag Potpourri", guaranteed to induce actual gagging.
yay pooka! faboo update! thanks so much
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Oh! thank you for reading and reviewing so loyally! I am so happy you read this even after a dry spell, which was a busy Real Life for me. I will be working on next chapter later this week.
I love the girls's plotting... and the letter to the religious fanatic was a hoot! Nice bit of story there.
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thanks for another kind review! The letter to the religious fanatic was my idea, but the leter from the religious fanatic was the brainchild of Chivalric, who helped me with this plot. (But the idea of Severus and Neville being pals was mine! I am very proud of that) Glad you like Ginny's letter to Mr. Gaylord. Such a shame Hermione won't let Ginny send it.
I loved the house elf pranks. Great chapter, thank you for brightening my evening.
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thanks for the review! I am delighted to have brightened your evening. Thank you for continuing to read this tale!
The meeting between Michael and Justin will be fun. I wonder what kind of "revenge against Draco" Michael will try to get Justin to help him with.Being friends with Hermione and Ginny will be good for Circe, and perhaps Circe can do a few things to advance Severus-as-husband-material to Hermione.Good chapter.Beth
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thank you for reviewing each chapter! it was very kind of you. I think Circe is just the sort of friend Hermione and Ginny need. and she will be delighted to push Severus and Hermione together. (She loves to get her own way!)
What did Rita Skeeter, in her Animagus form, hear Neville saying to Lucky about the red crocus bulbs that Noble Headmaster Snape was looking for? Who are they for, I wonder? He has taken more than a passing notice of Hermione on the last several occasions he has been in her company... Hummmmm......Snape is pleased by the notion that Hermione is flirting with him, and she has invited him to visit her and Ginny when they have their own flat. I like the turn this is taking.A lot has happened in this revenge plan the ladies have embarked upon:• Michael has been turned blue and blames Draco the Stinging Hex.• "Draco" has placed an advertisement in a gay wizarding club, and apparently garnered a lot of interest.• Harry, Ron and their brides will soon be turning blue.• Draco is sending the family emeralds to Ginny. And just what is Blaise up to?
You have been busy, busy, busy, dear pookah. Well done!Beth
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
What a long lovely review! So the crocus bulbs caught your attention? You will find out what they are for, never fear! Now Rita knows, can the world be far behind? Thanks for taking the effort to review each chapter. I am delighted by your kind words!
Sounds like it's Draco's turn in the barrel... so what do the ladies have in mind for their revenge on the Malfoy heir? Whatever it is, it's bound to be good!Nice work!Beth
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thank you! They have a thing or two plotted out for Draco! But I don't feel sorry for him.
Now that Blaise's mother is in on the wager her son and his cohorts have made, I wonder what part she will play in the antics to come?Going on the the next chapter now!Beth
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thank you for the kind rating and for reviewing each chapter! I hope you like Circe's part in this little opus.
I can't wait to see Draco's reaction when he arrives in the private dining room at The Leaky Cauldron only to find he is the guest of honor at a gathering of gay wizards who are romantically interested in him! Tea with Circe and Severus was an interesting afternoon for Ginny and Hermione. I hope Circe's encouraging words to Severus about Hermione give him a nudge toward expressing his interest in Hermione. The sentiments Severus expressed about Minerva were so sweet. I'm glad they are such good friends.Great chapter!Beth
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Yes, Ginny may be in for more excitement than she expects! Believe me, Severus will be making a move, of sorts, but in a very autious manner. He is definitley considering Hermione.I'm so glad you like the relationship between Severus and Minerva! I have always thought they are good friends. And it makes sense that when Dumbledore was playing favourites with his own house, that McGonagall would have stood up for Young Snape, even against her own house's students.
Well, that went well, didn't it? Now that the witches are suitably enraged, we'll get to see how they have decided to torment their worthy(?) suiters.Good show!Beth
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
I'm so happy you find this amusing! Thanks for reading and reviewing. I hope you enjoy the coming revenge plots!
Silly boys! They've done it now! When the objects of their affections realize they've taken Chastity Vows as part of a bet on which one will wed the witch of his dreams, there will be a four horny and supremely unhappy wizards.Great beginning!Beth
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Heehee. Thank you for such a nice review! I am delighted that you like the tale so far.
LOL, poor Blaise must be thinking he's going crazy. Especially if this won't be the first and the last time something odd happens!Circe is a lot of fun, and I really do like her idea about getting Hermione together with Severus.
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
Thank you for continuing to read and review! I'm so happy you like Circe! She is a clever lady. I hope you continue to like her ideas.
Oh, they only pulled the disappearing clothes on Blaise once? They should have doen it at least two more times for full effect! Oh well. Circe is a hoot.
Response from pookah (Author of Matchmaker)
They have only pulled the stunt on Blaise once, so far.Perhaps they will think of some other things to do. They have to work around the House Elves, you know. Thanks for reviewing!
