Severus loses a magical bet to Albus. The consequences? He's forced to take Argentine Tango lessons from Hermione during her summer break from University. An uneasy friendship is formed that turns into something more. What part does the Wolfsbane Potion play, and what is the mystery behind the Enchanted Leaf? Equal parts: humor, sensuality, adventure, and mystery. My answer to the codpiece challenge on Wiktt. HG/SS (Rating for later chapters).

I am amazed and enthralled with the Harry Potter universe, with the emphasis on Snape. HG/SS is my favorite ship (you have been warned). I like sci-fi ? Star Wars, Quantum Leap, Star Trek, and Ray Bradbury to name a few. Horror also catches my interest as in Stephen King. I am a married, mother of two teenagers, multiple pets (dogs, cats, rabbits, turtle), and I work way too many hours. The rest is window dressing and subject to change without notice. I am also on staff on a wonderful new site called Playwitch. Visit when you get a minute: WWW.Playwitch.net

Reviews for Dances with Witches
Does Hermione ever think of "Professor Snape" as a possible partner in this life?
He is obviously running from the idea, though it continues to try to haunt him, telling him it is something to be seriously considered. It is obviously Dumbledore's intent.
Does Hermione notice how he seems to feel at all?
Is she being a tease or does she really not realize that any guy, no matter who he is, would find this whole thing to appear like just one great big "Come on Big Boy" invitation?
I can't think of any red blooded man or wizard, who likes women, who would not be somewhat aroused by dancing with a beautiful young woman wearing what looks like painted on clothing and a flimsy excuse for a skirt, paired with a revealing decolletage conveiently pressed against thier chest. I find it hard to believe that Ted or any other guy would be able to dance this dance without noticing it's sexual context/contact. It isn't exactly square dancing.
I wouldn't want my husband dancing this way with beautiful, lithe, young women as a pass time.
I must go to bed but I just had to read this chapter. Severus is going to fall hard. Poor man. I'm guessing that Vanessa is related to Albus Dumbledore in some way. Good move. He's hemmed in on 3 sides now. I'm surprised that Hermione wouldn't know better than to yell Snape's name out like that in public. Well, she isn't in love just yet and she certainly isn't affraid of him so I guess there was no reason to be sensitive to his proclivity for sculking. I must find time tomorrow after work to watch the other 2 dances Hermione did. I gave my husband a few bitter words when he came home and caught me crying. He's sorry. If I could draw a great big empty bag of nothing in the emoticons I would. Sorry is so empty unless the person plans to change. I also gave a few words to my 30 year old daughter that uses up so much of his emotional engery with her non-stop drama. She's real sorry too. At least I can look forward to your wonderful story tomorrow night again.
Ahhhh...She got a grin out of him this time. Did she notice? I watched some more tango videos and it was more enjoyable now that I was able to pay attention to the male dancer's hand movements on the female dancer's back, directing her. I really like the instructions along witht he plot very much! Thank you Pearle.
The only thing was, I began to feel sad and even a little teary as I watched the lithe young women moving across the dance floor and felt true regret that I let my stick in the mud husband keep me from learning ballroom dance. Now I have nerve pain in my feet and I'll never get to learn. That son of a bitch! Problem is, I knew if I went out and had that kind of fun without him, well... Marriage is a sacred union and I vowed for better or for worse so I only have myself to blame in the end I guess. We must take resposibility for our choices. After a few fights and coming to the conclusion that no matter what, he wasn't going to cave, in back in my youth; I was pretty sure I would have enjoyed going dancing without him too much. It seemed best on many levels to let it go. Only, I guess I haven't. Now I just have reqret and sadness that he couldn't be more flexible. He has no idea all the things I've given up have meant so much to me. No matter how much I talk, he can't understand because he didn't give up anything. He didn't want anything. I know that's hard to believe. I promise it took about 15 years to believe it myself. 32+ years later, he's at church tonight and I'm enjoying your story. Thank you Pearle, for offering something I can enjoy in life. You have no idea.
Tisk, tisk... Must Albus bring it up to other staff members? At least I think Lupin will be the most gentle in his teasing, should he desire to partake. He will understand not bashing another man's ego in the wrong company. Severus should be thankful it wasn't Hooch sitting at the table. Lupin also knows that he is more likely to be hexed than one of the female teachers too, I think. Why must Hermione tease him unless she secretly wishes to seduce him? She should give that some thought the next time she choses her outfit. I think she will also do well to continue to appeal to Snape's pride and the fact that whether or not he practices, he will still be dancing at Hogwarts in front of students at Halloween.
I have been sucked further into the vortex that is Snape and Hermione spinning with their bodies pressed together.I wouldn't miss the next lesson for the life of me. Poor Snape. He's really in for it, isn't he? I imagine that men who don't spend all day holding lithe, scantily clothed women against them professionally would have a much harder time keeping the dance about dancing. Isn't that the point! Yippy! I'm off to look at men's fashion of the time required.
Utterly and completely intrigued. I even went to youtube and watched some sexy Argentine Tango dances to get into the spirit of the moment. I can't wait to see how this developes. Lead on Fair Pearl!
I am utterly loving this so far, and I am absolutely horrified at the thought of it remaining unfinished.
Please, please, PLEASE, for the loveof God, finish this!!!
I adore this story so much. I hope that your muse (and your life outside of fan fic) will allow you to complete it!
I really hope you finish this story. It's really good.
You've got a good balance of humour with everything. Keep it up!
A very nice chapter.
I love bread and butter pudding. I might try this recipe. It looks good.
on Severus for being a gentleman. Oh, well. It was a very, very nice kiss.
Gorgeous chapter.
Oddly enough, I have never had wine with pizza. I might give it a try. I'm kind of sad that he didn't try to kiss her.
I saw the update notice, and realized: ooo, I like that one. Then I realized that you started this story before I started reviewing. So, I love this story and am glad to tell you that!
I can't get the image of Severus dancing around the dungeon on tip toe out of my mind.
Lovely lesson. I liked how she shot down Mr. Wells.
I think it is so cool that Severus smells like lust.
I know why he was unaccountably angry. hehehe.
Maybe Vanessa is related to a certain twinkly eyed Headmaster?
I'm just sitting here grinning like an idiot. Fortunately the only other beings in the house are the cat and the fish.
I really liked this chapter.
Gosh, this is an epic but I am loving it - I have just read the whole thing from the start and I am really enjoying it. Look forward to an update!
I have read this story several times in different places, Pearle, and one of the things that continually enchants me is Severus's internal voice. I find it so amusing. I never fail to smile when I'm reading the desperate urging on it gives Severus. Between it and the Thong, I grin and grin.
Good to see you posting again. I have followed this story from way back when and have hoped you would finish it. I have always loved Severus' inner voice in this story. Once it is all done I'll have to reread from the beginning. I hope you will have less health problems. They can be quite annoying when they keep us from what we want to do.
I feel like this story should've been over a long time ago when the bet was settled and Severus performed his dance. Everything that happens after that could possibly have been another story. As it is, the subsequent chapters no longer have anything whatsoever to do with the title and the first half of this story. Does this story REALLY need to be over 46 chapters long? You should've wrapped up the loose ends of this story by the time Severus fulfilled his part of the bet so it wouldn't feel so dragged out. I don't mean to be rude with this review, it's just that I think you've really over-extended the shelf-life of this story and now it's a completely different plot from the one you first started out with.
woot! Glad to see a new chapter up. Enjoyed it :)
hope you get to feeling better soon.
