I think now that he has something positive in his life to balance all of the negative happiness is not only possible but probable. I believe a person is only truely and completely unhappy when there is nothing in their life which is positive. A happy home life can make a negative work environment bearable just as a positive work environment or job you love can make a less than happy homelife tolerable. It is all about balance.
