A little light reading and a chance comment lead Hermione to discover that Snape has nowhere to spend Christmas. But is dragging him home for the holidays really a good idea? (A WIKTT Christmas 2003 challenge fic; AU w/HBP & DH)

Reviews for The First Faint Glimmer
I thought you had abandoned the story and I'm truly happy you seem to continue, especially with Christmas approaching! Please keep writing, I enjoy this story very much!
I think this chapter was important simply because it began the healing process. Sometimes sitting with someone who walked the road you have and talking to them about things is the only way you can sort through what you feel.
Interesting, the argument took up most of the chapter, buy it was nice to see it work out. Hell, Severus even gave Hermione a left-handed compliment.
I loved Mrs. Nott, she reminds me of my own nosy neighbors. I often feel like Hermione, but I never had the guts to do anything remotely like what she did. So I would award her extra house points if I could but Hogwarts hasn't admitted me yet. I guess you will have to make do with a review and rating.
This is really good. I look forward to reading the rest.
I've enjoyed this very much so far, and I dearly hope there will be more soon!
Progress, I believe.
Nasty memories for both. Hopefully sharing lightens the load a little.
excellent seasonal story! interesting and intelleget. thanks so much
very cool!!!
I very eagerly await the next installment...
that is disGUSting.
I am going to remember the "annual rash of commercialism".
I LOVE the opening conversation between snape and hermione! it is ssooo perfect!and all these events seem entirely plausible (if you accept that hermione attends hogwarts during 7th yr). I love that.and can we please have a one-shot of the spineless and infinite limb hex scene? please? pretty please?
really nice story!!!i like the way Hermione interacts with Snape, quite realistic i think!!is this story written or are you writing it now?update soon!!

Thanks! The story's been written (& is entirely available on ff.net), and I'm hoping to post it all here before Christmas, with any luck.
I've never read this story before. I do hope you are one of those authors that updates frequently!

I'm hoping to have it all posted before Christmas, with any luck. Glad you're enjoying it!
I am proud to say that I have acted in exactly two of Shakespeare's fantastic plays, and those two just happened to be The Winter's Tale and Cymbeline. (A local director liked the rarer stuff.) I was a bit tickled to see the references here.

I enjoy a bit of obscure Shakespeare myself. ^_^
The first faint glimmer, indeed! This is a lovely story. Not all chirpy and happy, but caring and feeling. Thank you for this wonderful update.
Thanks for the update! Great chapter.
PLease continue I really like this story.
Severus' memory of Vespasian being throw onto the fire nearly broke my heart. What an awful thing to do to a child... no wonder he grew up cynical.

Unforgiven by Metallica! Lordy, but that was the perfect song for Severus to be listening to when Hemrione sought him out. Brilliant chapter!

That was an interesting conversation Severus had with Hermione's mother, but the one he had with Hermione herself was even more interesting. It was his turn to be reduced to babbling. LOL!

Genie is a wonderful child! She can really wrap Snape around her little finger, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of the interaction between the two of them.

Harry and Ron reacted just like I expected they would. but Hermione's little sister was as delightful as it was unexpected.
Well done.
