I am a grateful fan of Ms. Rowling and of her overwhelming Byronic Character, Severus Snape! Please check out the first chapters of each fic (except for "How Can I Tell You," which is on Chapter 2) to see pictures of the Heroines.
Admins' Note: Livvy6 died suddenly on February 22, 2012, leaving behind her husband, six-year-old daughter, and seventeen stories well-loved by the TPP community. All who knew her—including those in Harry Potter fandom and all of us, here—are richer for having known her.
Requiescat in pace, Livvy. Always.
Reviews for Silent All These Years
Was this the day she was attacked, or did it happen on another trip to collect the herbs and plants he needed for potions? If it was this way I assume that he decided that taking her with him to collect would be part of her training to become an apprentice and then a potions master. I hope this wasn't the day.
I enjoyed the interchange between them. Katherine was already developing an quite ego and he was right in trying to rein it in. He knew from personal experience that egos, such as the ones James and Sirius had, won't win friends and influence people. His own ego had always been balanced by his insecurities, Potter and Black had no insecurities.
That's what worries me about restoring her memories, that it will make her a bundle of insecurities. That seems more likely to me than unforgiving anger and resentment at Severus who did it to protect her and preserve her sanity. I include Minerva in this equation too. I would give anything for a way to get rid of the dark memories that haunt me.

No, this was Sept. of 2001. The attack took place in April of 2002. So this was the first of many future outings they would have.I'm glad you liked the banter between them. She definately can be a smug little thing and that just infuriates Snape.
In an earlier chapter, he had said during her third year that he was considering taking her with him to the forest to replenish his stores, like she had begged him to when she was a second year. He really wanted to shake her out of her love-struck stupor with Ludddington. But yes, this was the beginning of the process of her becoming a Potions mistress.
Yes, it took me weeks to decide on how to develop Katherine's reaction to her restored memories. I hope you will like the outcome.
BTW, I am still going to respond to your private e-mail. My husband was out of town and we did Valentine's this weekend. I'll get back to you when I get a mo.
Thanks as always for reviewing!

Oh my. Oh my my my.
I'm so glad she went to Severus. And he took care of business. But still. I'm shaken.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Silent All These Years)
Oh yes. That was a particulary nasty piece of business for Snape to handle. Luddington is a dog of the worst kind. But what is sad is that he knew and he tried to warn her.
That will be a theme that will repeat itself. Katherine is weak, Severus must save the day. It will have to be dealt with. And it shall.
Yes, this is a sad story that goes into very dark places, but I hope you will stick it out to see the light at the end!

This was a very difficult chapter for me to read I started reading it when I got the email alert, but I put off reading Minerva's flashback and the rest of the chapter until we got back from our Valentine's Day dinner. The chapter was very well written, but I will probably have nightmares about it. I've had far more than my share of tragedy in my life and I've dealt with it much like Severus did for most of his life, that's why I have such an affinity with him.I'm pretty sure this is only the beginning of the unfolding of what happened to her that day and how she has to come to terms with it. I like your story and I want to continue to read the story because I like your plot and I like Katherine. Would you put a warning at the beginning of any chapters that will deal graphically with what happened to her? That way I could just skim past the parts that are difficult for me to handle and so could any others who want to read the story but avoid the parts that can possibly be upsetting.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Silent All These Years)
Absolutely. I've also had many horrible things happen in my past, so I can empathize with you. Writing has been my way to get a lot of things out. I've tried very hard to write this story in a delicate way. I will respect your request and I will place warnings for future chapters. I do want you to know that I appreciate your sticking with the story and I promise there will be happiness at the end of the tunnel.
Thank you so much for being honest with me.

Thanks,

Hello,Well that was a great read. I am usually a HG/SS shipper - so I was a little out of my comfort zone with an OC, but managed! Well actually more than managed. It was a lovely fic - eerrr ummm except the rape and the wedding night...Hmmm perhaps better described as a well written fic that had just the right balance of angst and happiness in a nicely developed linear plot with believeable characters...Linear? Oh! Ah dagnabit...It was good!Would the young Minerva be called 'wee Minerva' by the staff? Especially by her namesake? And Hagrid?Cheers
Response from livvy6 (Author of Silent All These Years)
I hope it wasn't the wedding night with Snape that was so bad! Luddington sure was a piece of work.I never thought about what people might say about Minerva Snape! Perhaps they would! Thanks!Livvy
Response from reets67 (Reviewer)
Oops. Yes to clarify my comment re. the wedding night: It was wholly and solely reserved for Luddington
You were very correct in thinking that i would enjoy this story of Yours as well. I thank You for bringing it to my attention. It is a wonderful story.

I like Severus' righteous rage in this chapter. Also, it was very artful of you to reveal only a little bit of her ordeal at the beginning. Good exposition of plot!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Silent All These Years)
Thank you, I worked very hard to work the plot in this way. I'm glad you liked the confrontation between Snape and Marcus. Marcus is truly a nasty piece of work!

I got a little lost in the time frame and had to go back to the previous chapters to get it straight. Now I think I've got the time frame straight, The incident happened 5 years before her wedding, and she she started at Hogwarts in 1998, and graduated in 2005 and then completed her 2 year Potions Master apprenticeship before the wedding, right?Once I got past the wedding this chapter was a real shock, I already had a strong suspicion about what happened to her in 2002; but what happened on her wedding night was a shocker. You've done a good job of showing what a slimeball Luddington is in those few paragraphs. Now I'm dying to find out who did that to her and Who was killing off the DE's. Did Severus do the, or was it a conspirancy between him, Minerva, and Poppy? There is even a possibility Katherine did it herself under their protection. Update soon, I want more clues and more information about what happened after the incident.

Oh I am so glad you're digging this fic! Yes, you've got the timeline down. I just uploaded the next chapter and hopefully it'll be up soon. You'll get a POV from Minerva on that fateful day in April of 2002. But there is more twists and turns ahead . The darkest is always before the dawn! All shall be revealed in the end!

Wow...I really quite like the way you portray your characters (and JKR's, too, of course!). The way you've started this story is great - v. tantalising! Can't wait to see where it goes, and to discover what has been happening with Katherine and the Death Eaters. She's a really sympathetic heroine!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Silent All These Years)
Yes, she is but also, as the story goes, you'll see her sink lower, but then she will make a discovery that wil pull her up and make her stand on her own feet and become her own woman.

Oh, goodness, first love makes dunderheads of us all. I so love your original characters! They are so varied, and each one is a uniquely perfect foil for Snape.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Silent All These Years)
Thank you so much! You don't even realize how true yuor statement is! Snape is on the money about Luddington. He's NO good! Thank you for your praise on my OC's. I try to put a lot of hard work into developing them into characters that can stand up to such a complex character as Snape.

From what I've seen so far, Katherine would not only make a good Griffyndor, she has the brains to make a good Ravenclaw and enough ambition to be a Slytherin. I wonder why the hat put her in Hufflepuff?
Response from livvy6 (Author of Silent All These Years)
You will see a sense of loyalty that will shine through everything and that is what Hufflepuffs are- they are fiercely loyal
Thanks for reviewing! I'm starting to despair! I have all these hits on my story count, but you have been the only person to review. I really appreciate it!

Only one chapter and you already have me hooked. The 11 year old Katherine Hannover has captured my heart already. I need to know what happened to her that caused her to have the panic attacks and to change so drastically from the out going and charming 11 year old into the shell that she is today. And what it was about her besides her ability with potions that caused Severus Snape to care so deeply about her welfare. You say the story is a sad one, I hope it has an upbeat ending.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Silent All These Years)
Thank you very much! I promise all will be revealed. Many twists and turns ahead, though. But I post new chapters quickly!
