George tries to rectify the problematic relationship between Hermione and Ron at the Ministry of Magic’s New Years gala, although, I don’t think things turned out exactly as he planned.
Written as a gift for my beta, Southern_Witch_69, as a New Years surprise, and she decided to let me share it with all of you!
I hope 2008 brings hope, happiness and loads of good memories for us all.

I only just thought of it... was Severus' mask inspired by that beaky thing worn by Alan Rickman in Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street?Just a random question. :D

Actually it was inspired by a mask my brother and sister-in-law brought back from Italy. Sorry. All the masks mentioned are hanging in thier hallway! You pass them on the way to the loo. Teehehehe and yes, the 'banner' has Harry and Ginny's masks.

And it was terrific, of yes indeedy! My favorite part was the description of Severus' laugh: ". . .and he laughed, a low, deep laugh that sent shivers down her spine."
I have always dreamed of being held by a gentle man, and leaning back against his chest as he spoke or laughed, and feelind it rumble through me, and that was just so perfect. It gave me goosbumps.

I enjoyed that! I am wondering though how Severus was able to make love with that mask on if the nose was as long and pointed as the mask in the photo shown above. I suppose the answer will be "very carefully."

Truthfully, I simply chose two pictures of Venetian masks and two Mardi Gras carnival masks for the banner, that I liked. Yes, the mask Severus wore had a large nose, but it was magical in the effect that it stayed in place, even when he drank from the flute of champagne. It wouldn't reveal his face, even when he tipped his head up to drink.
The fun was that he was able to make love to her with it on, and it heightened the experience for Hermione.I'm glad you enjoyed this little story. Thank you for the compliment.

I am glad that Hermione was truly over Ron before she took up with Severus. I always dislike it when she doesn't know what she wants, yet she's pulling Severus along. Anyway, I enjoyed your short story. I hope you have a happy new year!
