Reviews for Unseen
I was already excited when I read the summary :)
And now, I'm very happy. This was another brilliant chapter.
I'm still completely enthralled by your characterizations! It's like I'm right there alongside them as they grow and mature :)
And concerning how James is using Pepper to get to Lily... ooh, that makes me mad. But it's quite believable. And I hope Pepper doesn't make too big a mess of things... though that little scene with Severus... hmm, doesn't bode well.
And I have to mention how much I loved the way your wrote Severus' reaction to seeing Tobias. Everything was so dramatic and just heart-wrenching.
Oh! And of course, the chapter's ending was so sweet. Absolutely wonderful :) The expression on my face while reading it looked something like this -->
I loved this line (one of many that I loved): He did not release her, but hugged her clumsily, seeming to fumble about for acceptable places to rest his hands. Very realistic. And I can imagine Severus being like that.
Anyways, here's to another amazing chapter!
And of course, good luck with the next chapters
Man, I love these smiley things, haha!

I'm so happy to know that you feel that you're growing up with them - that's a huge compliment to me. Don't you think that adult Petunia is wayyy too nasty about Lily & James - more than just sibling rivalry would create - more along the lines of a woman scorned?
Tobias is a world-class jerk and deserves to be used for target practice for Death Eaters practicing their Unforgiveables.
I'm glad you liked the tender scene at the end, though. thanks for your support, my dear.
Aww! This was a great chapter, from disastrous (the meeting with Snape Sr.) to the sweet, heartthrobbing moment inside the Kingdom. I know it won't last (sob*) but it was nice seeing it written down. A bit of sweetness in Severus' taciturn life. Lovely!
Response from Subversa (Author of Unseen)
It was a real roller coaster, wasn't it? No, it can't last, but it had to part of the whole story - or it would not have pushed him so hard into Voldemort's arms, I think. Thank you, my dear!
You had me in tears with this rollercoaster of a chapter. Poor little Stephy and such a tragedy for that family, only to be compounded by Tobias leaving. The confrontation between Severus and his dad was so powerfully written. Tobias is first-rate jerk for naming his new daughter Stephy - as if he's trying to replace the daughter who died.
The first kiss was beautiful. *happy sigh*
Lovely as always, my dear. I think this chapter is my favorite, thus far.

Yours are the first eyes to see each draft, love. I don't know what I would do without you.

Ah, the arrival of the Marauders! James is a prat. And they invaded the Kingdom! Even bigger prats. Poor Severus! His safe place invaded by the enemy. His destruction of the Kingdom was powerfully written, his anger and resentment and pain was palpable. I'm relieved that Lily went to Severus and fixed things. Whew! The medallions are very clever and are a good way for her to show Severus how much she values his friendship.
Have I mentioned how much I adore Pepper? Well, maybe not her exactly, but how you've written her. What a fabulous job of fleshing out a minor character in canon.
You know how much I adore this story, dearest. The relationship between the sisters is wonderfully written and feels so real. Their friendship with Severus is beginning to solidify, which is fun to watch, particularly the scene with them wrestling around on the floor. The interaction between Severus and his mum was heartbreaking. I love how you show just subtle hints of the adults they will become.
Grrrr. Potter. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
It's so wonderful that Lily understands Severus! That she understood it was his safe place and what it meant to him to have it invaded! And the explanation of Severus' nickname is great! I've wondered for a long time where "Snivellus" came from, exactly.
I cannot wait for chapter 4!
Response from Subversa (Author of Unseen)
I'm not original with the interpretation of where "Snivellus" came from, although I cannot give credit where credit is due, at this point - I just know I read it in someone else's story at some point in the last two years. I think part of the draw to Lily for Severus is her kindness - he's not the kind of boy to be drawn for looks alone, after all. I'm glad you're angry with Potter, too! He infuriates me, the prat. Thank you so much for leaving a note for me - you know how encouraging it is for an author to receive feedback!
This was so worth the bit of wait.
The parts with James and Sirius were amusing. But I was angry when they showed up and started harassing Lily and Pepper (I don't even think of her as Petunia anymore :D). The scenes were all really well written.
Again, your characterization is absolutely wonderful. Severus is just perfectly written. Just how I would imagine him as a teenager. And when Sirius was describing Severus' appearance... I loved it :D Especially this part: Whispers regarding Snape’s newly-deepened, silkily-snide voice had been heard from the girls in their year, but Sirius could see no factors to mitigate the unprepossessing appearance of the acerbic Slytherin. Wow, haha ;)
Oh and I loved that Lily went to go see Severus! It was a really great scene and I smiled when she hugged him :)
Last thing... When I was reading your description of the flag.... oooh, I was tempted and inspired a bit. Perhaps, just maybe, I'll draw a picture of it someday :) It would be sort of difficult since I don't draw animals too often... but if, if, I ever do get to drawing it... I'll be sure to tell you.
Anyways, well done! And good luck writing in the future :)
Response from Subversa (Author of Unseen)
I don't often think of her as Petunia anymore, either. I think we're all enamoured of the Potions master's silky voice. I don't think anything short of Lily going to ask him to come back would have brought Severus back again - his pride is such a huge issue for him. I would adore to see any attempt you might make at the flag, my dear. Thank you so much for reading and for sharing your thoughts with me, as you go.
This is a lovely friendship story, even if we know it is doomed to fail in the future. Bittersweet. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
Response from Subversa (Author of Unseen)
Thank you, MmeSnape. There is tragedy, yes - thank you for being brave enough to read, anyway.
What a lovely first chapter! I was wondering when you'd upload your Snily story :) And now, here it is.
First of all, I'm so glad that you're writing this story, because it begs to be told. For sure.
It may only be the first chapter, but I'm already loving your characterization of Severus and Lily. And I loved this: Smirking, Severus vaulted over the wall ... ‘Show off,’ Pepper muttered, turning and stomping away. So great :D
Oh and I loved the Narnia and Mr. Tumnus reference :) This was also lovely: ‘What have you found?’ Lily demanded, apparently suspicious of the expression on his face. ‘Oh, just another world,’ Severus said tauntingly. Ahh, tauntingly; very much like him to say something like that.
Alright, done rambling. I love it! I wish you good luck with this story. And I anticipate the next chapter :)
Response from Subversa (Author of Unseen)
Severus is such a snarky git, even as 12, isn't he? I agree that the story begs to be told - thank you for wanting to hear it.
Oooo! This promises to be a cool story, can't wait to see what happens next. :)

OMG!!! I LOVE your stories! I was kinda dissapointed that it wasn't HG/SS, but that's OK, 'cause you rock!!
Author's Response: Thank you, mrsdan! It's not SS/HG, but it is a prelude to SS/HG - he had to become the sarcastic bastard we love, somehow.
mrsdan's response: Of course!!
I love stories about Severus as a child. Not many dare to attempt it properly though. Usually it's just a hint at his past or brief segments. Will be looking forward to finding out what else you have created for him.
Very curious - why did you choose to make Lily and Petunia fraternal twins?
Response from Subversa (Author of Unseen)
I wanted them to be very near in age and to be very close. I had a set of fraternal twins as friends in high school, and I never knew siblings who were closer than they were - so I made it easy on myself and made the Evans girls twins.I love child Severus - I want so badly to hug him, you know? And he would HATE that! But it fascinates me, too. Thanks,

I was thrilled this morning to see that you had written a story. Your writing is superb. I will add this to my favorite stories and will await chapter 2.

*creeps in*I was so nervous when I clickety clicked the link. Even though I know how completely brill you are, I just didn't know what to expect. Your story is off to a great start. I await Camelot, I mean the next chapter.
Response from Subversa (Author of Unseen)
*hugs you*Think of it as a prologue to SS/HG, babe, and it won't hurt so badly. Keep in mind that happiness awaits him in later life. And thank you for being brave enough to give it a whirl!
A good start to your story, and I look forward to more!

. It's a sad one to tell, but it's been living in my heart for a long time and I have to write it.
This feels good - I really enjoy reading teenage Lily and Severus so far :-) And looks like you're planning on making us like Petunia, too. Love the nickname, for one.
And Camelot? Looking forward to see what happens!

Is The Love You Take the story you refer to in your Authors Notes? Btw, I love this story, it had me almost in tears several times, & good work on getting most of the things that happened in DH right seeing as you wrote 90% of this before it was released. It's very sad, but still, amazing, I've never read a severus/Lily story before, preferring Hermione/Severus mostly & I really like this one. Top effort.Cheers!~Bree
Response from Subversa (Author of Unseen)
No, Bree, I'm sorry to say that I've never written the SSHG post-DH story I thought I would write. DH hurt me - hurts me still - what she did to Severus in that book changed him in my eyes, so I prefer to keep *my* AU Snape, tyvm, JKR. Perhaps, one day, I'll write an SSHG sequel to Unseen, but I have no plans to do so at this time. The Love You Take is my last hurrah in SSHG; I am writing a story for the SSHG Exchange, on Live Journal, but after that, I've promised to try my hand at original fiction. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing this story - it has a very, VERY special place in my heart.

Wow. This story picked up a lot in the later chapters and ended up being a really good tale! Very nice!!
A tragically wonderful tale. It could so easily have happened this way. Beautifully written as usual.

Thank you for your friendship and your support for these last two years, dearest Ally. I don't have the words to tell you how precious you are to me.
How utterly, utterly, heart wrenching! I was in a total haze as I read everyone of your carefully crafted words. There is so very much I want to say but I am still in limbo with my emotions right now.Well done for rendering me speechless (which isn't an easy task)BRAVO, my dear friend, BRAVO.Love Sonia
Response from Subversa (Author of Unseen)
Wow, Sonia - I am so pleased to know that you reacted so strongly to my story. I know it is not necessarily a story one enjoys to read, but rendering you speechless is an accomplishment.Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for taking the time to leave a note, as well.
Response from sbrande (Reviewer)
You are more than welcome. I was a bit hesitant to start reading the story when I saw that it was a Severus/Lily pairing. (I am still in denial about the whole canon thing) However, this story blew my mind. The characters had real depth to them and I felt that I was standing in the shadows and watching the story unfold.Thank you darl!Love Sonia :)
Oh this is tearing me apart. I really feel for Severus and I guess that is what you are trying to do with your exceptional writing.I cried when Severus and the girls went to meet his father who pretty much said he didn't want him. When he lifted up his shirt to show off his grandfathers handywork, I bawled like a baby. You are trying to wrench my heart from my chest aren't you? I can see how hard this was to write for you, and I commend you for seeing it through.Off to read the next chapter, with my trusty box of tissues next to me. Well done on the closing scene of this chapter.Love Sonia
