I have loved the written word since watching my mother’s fingers trace the lines of a book, luxuriating in riveting tales and well-turned phrases. Many a night I read until dawn, a plastic flashlight hidden under the covers to light the pages as I raced the rising sun to finish my latest must-read.

Since joining the HP fandom, I've been privileged to receive more than 50 awards, including Best Author (Quill to Parchment Awards) and Best Classic Author (Most Potente Passions). Among others, my stories have won awards for Best Hurt/Comfort (Spoils of War, Morning Has Broken), Best Novel Length (Calling Card, Guard…Check…Mate), Best One Shot (A Beach in Ireland), Best WIP (Saving a Death Eater, The Summoning), Favorite Overall Story (Complexities), and Readers’ Choice (A Quest of Paladins).

Aside from a judicious polish for formatting and egregious typos, I don't plan on revising my early work. Those stories are the stepping stones of my writing journey. Please note some stories contain adult content. None is more graphic than equivalent scenes in the television shows True Blood or Game of Thrones, and age appropriate warnings are posted.

I no longer write fanfiction prolifically. Like many fanfic authors, my focus has shifted to original work. A member of the Romance Writers of America and the Southern California Writers Association, I write under my name: Lin Thornhill.

My original story Verisimilitude published in Thoroughly Modern Monsters (Story Spring Publishing, 2013) reached the top 100 fantasy anthologies and broke into the top 10 in the UK the first month of release. Ben and Christine’s story will continue in 2016.

Fixation, my latest short story, slated for publication in J. Aldis’ anthology Immanence, with a winter 2015-2016 release, is particularly exciting as it anchors the Messengers of Inari novel series I’ve been developing for the past year.

Just reread this... oh, so beautiful. The vulnerability, the nakedness - not just literal - is moving. It's hard to read, at times as jagged and harsh as Severus' scars, but... there's that promise of hope. I don't really have the words to praise this piece.

Indeed - how could I have ever missed this before!?!?

Words cannot completely express so I will choose only one:
BRAVO!

Wow, how did I miss this story?  This is sad, all that the war has done to both of them but in the end, as long as they have each other I think they will be ok.  Very raw emotions, it is just a tremendous read.  I think that more healing went on in this one night then in the entire time she was patching him back up.  Amazing how that works!

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

I think you're right about the healing on this one  night ... for both of them actually.  This is a gorgeous compliment, and I thank you.

Okay, that was just gorgeous. Absolutely... stunning! Most of the SS/HG erotica is essentially PWP, stroke material. While that has its place... this was just so much MORE. I adore it. *places it in her favorites* Blessings!

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

I wrote this when I was first attempting to write a strict PWP (which assignment I failed spectacularly on more than one occasion,) and it turned into probably my favorite of all my stories. Every time someone likes it re-affirms my feelings for the short piece ... so thank you very much.

That was very touching and sad at the same time. A dozen years later, though? Good grief, it took them a while to come around. Well written, as always.

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

I was thinking of England's Hundred Years' War when I started to write this, and then it just sort of grounded from that point.   I'm delighted you were moved by this interlude between them, so poignant and on the brink of something much more. Thank you.

How wonderful! I love this story! Adding to favourites as I type!

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

::blushes::  Thank you very much.  This is one of my personal favorites as well.

Hot, of course, but also so very beautiful!

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

Thank you very much.  This is one of my personal favorites, actually, so I'm always thrilled when someone else enjoys it.

OMG!!! I've never read a one-shot this good before. Have you thought of expanding it into a multi-chapter?

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

A multi-chapter?  Hmmm.  I've never even considered the idea.  I'll have to think about it, although, on quick reflection, I'm not sure the impact of this piece wouldn't be diminished if I extended the arc. This is one of my personal favorites of all my stories, so when someone tells me they liked it my day is made.  Thank you very much.

Very nicely done. The idea that Severus was uncomfortable with his nakedness, but in the end believed that Hermione would accept him despite his injuries stands proxy for so mch more in their relationship.

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

Thank you.  I'm trying to learn how to 'show not tell,' so your comment is most encouraging, and I'm very glad you enjoyed it.

Fantastic blending of the harshness postwar and utter rawness with the sensuousness of the moment.  Wonderful!

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

::blushes:: Thank you very much.  Your comments reflect exactly what I was attempting to create in this one-shot, and it's very gratifying to see.

How lovely.  I admire the blend of hardship and hope that you bring to this story.  In terms of craft, you make it look easy to interweave expositional information with current action, but it's bloody difficult to do well, so kudos.

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your compliment.  This is one of my personal favorites, and I'm very pleased to know you enjoyed it.  Thank you.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.  Thanks.

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

I'm particularly fond of goodie trails!  ::grins::  Thanks,

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

This story resonates as a gritty, realistic depiction of the possible development of a post-war relationship.  Not pretty (literally or figuratively), but beautiful nonetheless, if that makes sense.  Thank you for once again sharing your wonderful talent with us.

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

Wow!  What great feedback.  You let me know that I've managed to convey everything I wanted to in this little story and thank you very, very much.

Nicely done. It's sad that she lost everyone, yet at least saving him saved a piece of herself and gave her purpose.

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

Thank you so much, SW!  I'm really glad you enjoyed the underlying notes to the story.

Love it. Really tugs on your heartstrings. Beautiful. Just, lovely. Wonderfully done.

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

I really appreciate your kind words.  Thank you.

*claps in a standing ovation*Once again you have run me through the gamut of emotions with your writing (I'm Delicate Poison over at SH) and humbled me.  By the end I had tears in my eyes from the sadness, the vulnerability, the sacrifice and the love that your words illustrated.  I think one of my favorite moments was when Hermione wanted to kill Dumbledore all over again.  I love that man to pieces but most people depict Albus as omnipotent and so kind hearted that he can do no wrong.  It was nice to see him written from a different perspective.

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

::curtseys ... blushes::  Telling me that I've taken you on an emotional journay is a remarkable compliment.  Thank you very, very much.

Can I just say again how much I love this story, not just for being a hot PWP but a moving character study? Going straight into my favs list now that its here I can tell ya.

Response from Bambu (Author of The Spoils of War)

::smooches::  Thank you.  It is one of my personal favorites, so it's always a pleasure to see when someone else likes it as much.
