Hermione is thrown into a parallel universe where everything is the same but different. While there, she finds another who has suffered the same fate as her, and together they try to find their way back to their home universe. Originally conceived as a gift for nottonyharrison for the GE Fic Exchange 2013, based on her wonderful prompt; due to helpful encouragement and much needed sprucing up, and generous support by a help-squad of wonderful witches, the story has now been given more proper love and care.

Oooh! Evil cliffie!! I'm sorry I missed this when it posted recently, nag! I really enjoyed the confrontation with Flint and Parkinson - your characterisations are spot on... and what is going on with Sirius at the end? I'm reading on! Pxx
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Oh, Lord--thank you, sweetie! You needn't--you know why better than anyone, but thank you for the continued feedback: *mwah* So happy that the characterisations come across as intended and ring true to you. Sirius? Who knows--lol! Oh, the infamous Code Black thingy--ha! Thanks again for all of the support with this magical beast of a tale *whew*!
Finally, for the final chapter, I find myself at a computer instead of a phone! I enjoyed the ending, and I think that this story was strong the whole way through. I like when someone develops secondary characters from the books into important characters in fanfic. There is so much you can do with them that doesn't really go against canon, because we simply don't have that much to go on. I thought you did a nice job showing that with Flint and Parkinson.Speaking of Flint, he was sufficiently creepy during his confession. And even more scary than say, Voldemort, because with that villain, you at least know where you stand. With Flint, he is just a normal(ish) guy on the exterior, but on the inside he is super insane. I like Parkinson's involvement in terms of Flint's motivation. I mean, it is one fucked up love story, but it made things all the more creepy. In the end, I'm glad she stayed. I thought she would, but there was a small part of me that was worried, right up until she agreed. It seems like everyone wins, especially when you consider that this universe's Hermione is now reacquainted with Ron. Although, I hope that he is the same(ish) Ron from this universe. I mean, imagine if she just lost this Ron who was this super catch, only to get her dream of being reunited with him, only to find him unemployed, with a beer belly and receding hairline, lol. Anyway, I think I said before that there is a dynamic between Sirius and Hermione that I really like, and I think you've done a nice job capturing that here. Maybe you'll be inspired to write them again. *nudge, nudge*I'm sure a ton of people have read and enjoyed your story, so it is really disappointing to me that more people didn't review. That is just the way of things, I suppose. I find myself in school for the gazillionth time (why can't I decide what I want to be when I grow up?!), so I have been pretty much away for the last year and a half. But when I am done in May, I may have to channel my inner Hermione and start a one woman revolution to make people review, dammit! I just think it is a shame that authors put so much blood, sweat, and tears into the craft, only to get minimal appreciation. And for that matter, not enough authors respond to reviews *climbs down off of soapbox*At any rate, I've enjoyed reading this, and enjoyed your responses as I've gone along. I hope you have more in the works, and I am sure you have some already published that I haven't read. I'd like to be able to eventually say that I've read every story on this site, but they just keep coming! Yay!

, Thank you so much for reading all of this and for your wonderful detailed commentary and feedback--the fact that you have enjoyed it so much means the world to me! I'm so happy that you liked Flint and Parkinson's storyline & development; and that there was enough of normal(ish) to him on the outside to counter his true inner demons, etc. I think I was thinking about when I read all of these horrible, true stories of murderers--the 'regular-looking' neighbour, colleague, etc., and they've committed various atrocities for whatever whacked out, sick reasons and beliefs, etc. There was a time when I definitely ended this in a draft with a not so HEA thingy... but I'm happy at the end of this that they are given some happiness. Yeah, I guess I really am a softy under all my usual gloom and doom--lol! And yes, I hope that this universe's Hermione reunite's with Ron, and he is what she expects him to be--I'll leave that up to the reader's imagination--lol! Love your ideas!:-D Even though many find the idea of this pairing pushing their squick buttons, I would love to write them again. We'll see if the Muse will be generous to me about these two, Hermione and Sirius, as I really enjoyed exploring them... I have two mad plot bunnies about them, but I must definitely discipline myself and write an outline with a clear beginning, middle, and end, etc., before even attempting to post it. After I finish all my other many wip, I want to maybe finish the story before, etc. Thank you for the virtual nudging!Oh, I hope you find what you truly want to do and a happy, fulfilling niche! Good luck with this semester, graduation, and afterwards--wishing you the best! I'm sure that whatever you've decided, you'll find fulfillment with it! And perhaps you'll have time again for your own writing and posting? *waggling eyebrows*Thank you again so much! Again, truly, deeply, madly appreciate it! All the best, naggy pooh
Good grief! I sort of expected that Kingsley and Harry would save the day, but then I kept waiting and waiting. After awhile I sort of decided that maybe they weren't coming, and the skies would open up and out would pop some sort of super Hermione and Sirius. Like all badass black leather clothed, or maybe like knights in shining armor, or maybe even capes and tights. Okay, I didn't quite consider it in so much detail, but it sounds cool, at any rate. So glad they are safe! Will they stay? Go back to their own time? Go back to her time together? Off to find out!
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Yeah, it took a while for the ol' dei ex machina guys to appear and use their wands, for Merlin's sake! And of course there was all of that filler text to explain some more *stuff*--lol!--then the (love the image of Harry and Kingsley in black leather and/or armor and /or capes and tights--absolutely!) heroes could appear once Marcus had spewed a bit, etc. *whew* Thank you again for the read and supportive feedback, truly, deeply appreciate it, milady (the knight told me to use the 'milady' before he rode off into the sunset...)!
This chapter was really intense. It seemed to me that we had acquired a new Parkinson, from the way she was acting, but then we have a new Flint too? Hermione's Flint? I get the feeling Sirius knows more than he is letting on to Hermione. Or maybe he just has had a bit more time in this universe. Still, he and Kingsley, and even Harry seem to be in on something that Hermione has been left out of. And, just how much does Harry know? I love stories that continue to make me question everything! Even if it is from an author who won't spill any secrets before I have the chance to read on. *whines and pouts* :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
You're spot on with Parkinson, Flint, and Sirius, well, heck, with everyone, on all levels--but there will be some (lame) kind of an explanation/explanations to justify things by the last chapter--lol! Sirius-ly, I promise! I would et into it and spill secrets but it might be even longer than the chapters--lol!, so... So happy that it's keeping your interest, as I fell in love with Hermione & Sirius more and more as I was writing this and just kept on adding more stuff because I didn't want 'it'--their story to end so quickly, so... lots of all kinds of things emerged--lol! Again, thank you so much for reading, truly appreciate it,

!
While I was seriously cheering for them to hook up, I had hoped that they both realized this was for fun and comfort in the short-term. Damn emotional entanglements! I'm with Hermione on the practical, logical aspect of things, but still, I can't help wonder if there is any truth to Sirius' thoughts on what's meant to be. He certainly brings up a good point in questioning what she had to go back to. But, if he thinks she will ever give up on answers, then he doesn't know her at all. And, just what is Mr. reckless planning here at the end?
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you so much for the read and the feedback, and yes, I agree with you 'Damn emotional entanglements!' They do rear their heads when you don't want them to Absolutely, she is determined to get the answers, come what may; they're both discovering each one's stubborn, determined natures, and who knows what Mr. reckless is about to do--he definitely has to maintain his own self-control and also give Hermione some space to do her own thing, as much as that is difficult for him and how worried he is, with good reason *evil cackling* Thanks again, truly appreciate it! :-)
Whew! I was a little concerned when he ran away from her at first, but apparently he just needed to wrestle some inner demons. Good for Hermione for knowing to give him some room and some support before flinging him into bed. Must have worked because damn, that man was on fire *fans self*
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Oh, yes, she wanted to pounce but had to give him a little breathing space before she did--lol! And in his defence, he had two universes full of *anticipation*, so when she definitely gave him the green light They'll get back to their detective work in the next chapter, just a little interlude to get the elephant out of the room;-) Thank you again so much for reading, and so happy that you're enjoying this--means so much!
It's good that they have a direction to take their research, but it seems there are still so many unanswered questions. How very frustrating! As for me, time travel always blows my mind, so when we start talking about parallel universes, I'm in real trouble. Are there other sets of Sirius/Hermiones who are also working on answers? Does each person only jump once, or could these two potentially get lost again? If the mystery is solved in one universe, does it right all of them? Are Flint and Parkinson bad in every universe, or is only one set of them controlling things? You're hurting my head, but I'm loving every minute!
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Oh my God, I'm loving all of your questions; they are all so exact and complete spoilers if answered now by yours truly, but I promise, as mad as everything seems, they'll be answered--Hermione has to dig a bit deeper and wider for the full details and links to eveyrthing and everyone still, but you know her, she won't stop until she unearths them!;-) Thank you again, truly appreciate it!
Boy, you are lucky this is complete! If I had to wait to see what happens, there'd be a bit of trouble, you know? :) I hope she really does remember so they have a little more to go on in figuring out the mystery. It must really throw Hermione off kilter to have Kreacher not only be helpful and respect her wishes, but truly treat her as though she is his mistress. Never would have happened in her universe.
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Yes, I couldn't resist having the impossible be possible with Kreacher and Hermione!:-) I was trying to have a wee bit of Kreacher's elf ability to be loyal and 'do the right thing' with/by Hermione present or something like that--lol! Yes, slowly but surely things will be remembered and help answer questions to the mystery. Thank you again for reading, truly appreciate it, and yes, an ongoing New Year resolution (year after year) is to complete wip stories... Real life, move over--ha!;-)
You're killing me here! Flint and Parkinson seem to clearly be up to no good. But on the other hand, it could just be that they are pretentious, power hungry pure blood types, and it's making them seem suspicious to us. If they are bad news, is Kingsley completely oblivious, or is this part of a bigger plan? I, for one, think she should show him what she found, so they can get back to that elevator business. ;)
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Oh, thank you, and I agree--they need to get back to that elevator business--heeee! I promise, all of your questions will be answered--it might take a while, but they'll all be answered--thanks again, truly appreciate it!
Ugh! Flint is such a shady character, but then there is a chance that he isn't. What the heck is going on?! We just don't know enough. I don't know how Sirius and Hermione can pull off being other versions of themselves, but kudos to them for doing so. I kind of like this protective Sirius, too. I have no idea if I think they will get back to their own times, or if they will end up having to settle in this one.
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Absolutely agree with you about Flint Sirius and Hermione will have to help each other fool the others--yeah, we'll see how long that'll last--lol! I was trying to go for a more mature Sirius, Hermione being more mature as well, perhaps drawing it out of him, as we only get the heavy-sided, emotionally stunted, unstable look of him mostly in canon, etc. Yup, at this point, they don't have any idea whether they'll get back to their own times or not...
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
, thank you for reading, truly appreciate it!
Well, yes, being dead is a bit of a mood killer, lol. How confusing for them to be dealing with people from three different universes. It would be a little creepy for Hermione, knowing that he has feelings for her, but not really her. And, for him to have one Hermione who has feelings for him, one who hates him, and one who is in awe that he is alive at all. How are they possibly going to get out of this mess? How many universes are there, and have they all been affected? This seems so impossible for them!
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Oh, thank you for continuing to read! Yeah, when do you tell someone that he is dead? lol! They are both going to need some time to let the differences sink in. It'll be difficult for both as they both need to get to know the person in front of them and not what they'd like to project onto them from the past, etc. Things will slowly be made clearer Thanks again for the read, truly appreciate it!
I have to tell you, I have no idea what's going on here, and I mean that in a good way. There is also not enough Sirius/Hermione fic if you ask me. I don't care if they are friends, colleagues, or lovers, there is kind of a nice dynamic between them. Although something about the chapter leaves me feeling unsettled on her behalf. Off to get some answers!
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you so much for reading and the feedback, truly appreciate it! I agree with you about the lack of Sirius/Hermione fic and about the interesting dynamics between them. I must confess, if I hadn't been given this pairing as a request in a fest, I probably wouldn't have explored these two, but now I'm so happy that I've had the chance. Yes, you're spot on regarding Hermione at the end of the chapter, she's just beginning to realize Sirius isn't the only thing different:-( . Thank you again for the read!
