Chapter 7 of 11
nagandsevSirius hesitates, leaves, and Hermione goes after him to help rid him of his ghosts—nothing a little loving healing won’t cure, so she thinks… But will it worsen their dilemma?
A/N: *Regulus' note to Voldemort, from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2007). My greatest gratitude to the one and only Proulxes for her alpha/beta work on this story and her unconditional friendship, as well as the same thankfulness to the admin goddess, Clairvoyant, for her saintly help and patience.
oOoOoOo
Hermione kissed Sirius with an urgency she never knew existed.
Reciprocating just as needily, then breaking for breath, he cupped her cheek and covered her face with featherlight kisses before claiming her lips lightly with his own.
Her fingers grasped and clenched at his bathrobe: she needed to touch him, feel him. She ran her fingers through his hair and then discovered the contour of his neck, shoulders...her fingertips grazed under the opened robe's cloth, feeling the heat and sculpted form of his torso. She started to slowly open the robe further, following his heat, going lower.
Suddenly, Sirius broke off the kiss, pressing his forehead against hers; noses touched, their breath warmly panting against each other. Hermione felt herself melding into him; she touched his face, ran her fingers over the stubble on his chin and lightly outlined his tickly moustache.
"Sirius," she whispered softly and pressed again against his lips with hers, insisting that they continue.
"You're going to break my heart," he whispered and paused, giving her an odd look, and abruptly stood up, running his hand through his hair.
What? She didn't understand what he was doing or saying. Hermione rocked backwards on the bed, adrenaline pumping through her system making her lightheaded with surprise.
"It's going to break my heart," he uttered, correcting himself. He looked away from her, closing and tightening the robe around him. "But if I truly want to help you at this moment, if I truly want to make you happy, I need to..." He seemed suddenly unable to look her in the eye and glanced around the room as if searching for something. He inexplicably took his wand and waved it around in an S-shape. "Knowing my notorious family as I do, there might just be some good to come out of this. Revelio!"
There was the slightest pause before Hermione heard thumping and thudding in various degrees of loudness throughout the house, as if objects were unable to get out of confined spaces.
"Hidden objects sealed away in the house." He seemed to not know exactly what further to say about his actions and awkwardly suggested, "Eat something, freshen up...rest a bit if you wish. I need to find something. I'll be in one of the other rooms if you need me."
And with that, he left.
What the hell is wrong? How could he stop like that? Why? What does he mean that he needs to find something? He needs to...What did he mean I'm going to break his heart? She sat back against the pillowed headboard, exasperated. Wasn't I showing him how I feel about him? What kind of woman does he think I am?
She sat there struggling with her emotions, whether to go after him and demand what was going on in that impulsive, erratic brain of his or to wait until he returned before confronting him. As her stomach rumbled softly, and she glanced at the dry blood stains on her clothing, she calmed a bit and decided to collect her thoughts more. However, she could barely concentrate on anything other than asking herself, What is wrong? I know Sirius wants me...and yes, I want him as I've never wanted anyone or anything in my life before! She was trembling from the feeling that had enveloped her.
She was so flustered and confused that she barely registered eating something.
She barely registered showering and dressing in the undergarments and old Muggle tracksuit she found in the other Hermione's wardrobe.
She barely registered grasping her wand and leaving the room in search of him, determined to find out why he had rejected her clear intentions to fully reciprocate.
Hermione only knew that she had climbed the stairs to the top floor and had entered Sirius' old bedroom: a single lit sconce showed that no one was there, but a refurbished and familiar Gryffindor look surrounded her. Even the old posters of Muggle girls on motorbikes still hung unmoved, permanently stuck to the wall, accenting which of the Black brother's room this truly was. Hermione couldn't help but smile at the posters' defiant symbolic stance as she left and slowly gravitated to the door opened directly across the hall with the sign 'Regulus Arcturus Black' nailed upon it.
She entered quietly, and in the soft light, she called for him.
"Sirius?"
She found him sitting on a small settee, a pile of books and trinkets on the floor beside it. He was wiping his eyes with the heel of one hand, holding a framed picture in his other.
Hermione swiftly took in this Regulus' room: it had been converted from the younger brother's bedroom, formerly strewn with his family's crest and Slytherin décor, photos and articles about the Dark Lord and his followers hanging all over the walls. Now it was a somber, austere study of sorts: half a sitting parlour, half of it shelved with books from the floor to the ceiling.
She saw on the wall of the sitting area where Sirius was that the entire wall was covered with framed pictures of varying sizes and shapes along with several parchments. As she walked closer, she glanced over the photos and became mesmerized by the figures of Albus Dumbledore, Fred Weasley, Ted Tonks, Dirk Cresswell, Colin Creevey, and so many others. Her focus kept coming back to several photos that had the moving forms or blinking eyes of other unexpected but familiar faces that made her chest burn with a heavy, maudlin emotion. There's Nymphadora, Remus... and Professor Snape!
She slowly crossed over and sat down beside Sirius. They both gazed silently at the wall, but she could feel his turmoil evoked from the assemblage of those deceased.
His pain is my pain; his loss is my loss...ours!
She felt an uncontrollable yearning to touch him, kiss him, be with him. Be one with him.
"It's a private collage of loved ones, a war memorial of sorts... A commemoration to those fallen or who have passed away," remarked Hermione in a quiet voice.
"Yes."
"May I?"
Sirius showed her the picture he held so tightly. She gasped at the three figures in it.
Two easily recognizable adolescent wizards, James Potter and Sirius, seemed to be urging on the photographer to take the photo while the third person standing on the teenage Sirius' other side, a tall, scowling youth with black hair and grey burning eyes, was staring balefully forward. The sullen youth was slightly hunched, arms crossed tightly over his lean chest, as if he was in pain.
Harry's father, Sirius, and... Regulus? She was confused by the incongruousness of the three of them ever being together and asked, "When was this taken?"
She watched Sirius' eyes narrow. "It was... right before he disappeared. That year...the last time I saw him... Well, the last time I saw him alive. Only a few photos remain. Lily took this one. I was living at the Potter's. I knew Regulus was deep in it...but I had also heard through the grapevine that he wanted to leave..."
Sirius was struggling with attempting to make light of it contrary to what he appeared to be feeling at that moment, saying, "I still wanted to protect the little git, even though he had rejected me, despised me, and renounced me being his kin, his brother."
"I don't believe that, Sirius. He didn't despise you." She squeezed his hand encouragingly. "I believe he was scared, alone, understood too late how diabolical Voldemort and his followers were, wanted to get out, but couldn't. I think he did what he could and kept face to protect his family...his brother. If Voldemort knew he still cared for you, he would have used it against both of you in the most despicable ways. Believing that both of you had become meaningless to one another worked...it satisfied Voldemort and didn't attract his attention further."
"I could have, should have protected him more, but it didn't happen," argued Sirius, visibly troubled. "The Potters offered to give my brother a safe house until we could arrange to sneak him out of the country, beyond Voldemort's and his followers' awareness, beyond the Ministry's...away from my parents reach. Regulus agreed to meet me, but... Something happened. He didn't meet me later at the clandestine rendezvous point agreed upon. He never showed. At the time, I took his no show as a final answer of where he had decided his true loyalties lie or that he had turned tail at the crucial time... It was only much later, years later that the truth came out."
Hermione took his free hand into her own, covering it protectively. "Regulus did a great thing. An incredibly brave deed, Sirius. Without his sacrifice all those years ago, we wouldn't have been able to defeat Voldemort. Everyone's contribution was needed and vitally helped our cause...sacrificing his life like that." She kissed Sirius softly on the cheek. "The ultimate sacrifice for those he loved." She gave him a soft smile. "Well, that's your true brother, that was the true Regulus, wasn't it?"
Sirius held her gaze and whispered, "Yes." He lightly kissed her on the lips before deepening it.
Catching himself once again, he stopped, and she saw him make a decision to redirect his focus. "I found something relevant, although not exactly what you want." He picked up a book from the pile and showed her its title: A Translation of Herpo the Great's Treatises of Fundamental Magical Truths.
"I'll look at it, later." At that very moment, she couldn't give a fuck about Herpo the Foul. Sirius, on the other hand, she was very concentrated on.
"Sirius, you need to make peace with Regulus' memory, with yourself. You are proud of him, aren't you? He did what he felt he had to do. He was true to himself at the end, to you...he protected his family the only way he knew how with the choices he had before him. He was truly a noble brother in blood and deed."
"In the end, of course I am proud of him. Just... what a miserable, fucking life he had. Growing up in this madhouse."
Hermione became acutely aware of the myriad eyes watching them from the vast array of pictures, and she instinctively wanted to be alone with Sirius is his intimate state.
"Sirius, come with me." She needed to get him out of the somber room. "We'll take the book and look through it; we can come back here later and go through more things."
She tugged him gently up, and he paused for a moment, saying, "Let me just..."
Sirius placed the picture back on the wall where it hung beside the framed note from Regulus to Voldemort found in the fake Horcrux so long ago:
To the Dark Lord
I know I will be dead long before you read this but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret. I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can. I face death in the hope that when you meet your match you will be mortal once more.
R.A.B.*
Sirius took a deep breath and said, "Regulus, Snape... Sacrificing themselves at all cost under the guise as Voldemort's followers. Fuck it all... Who knew? Rest in peace." He grabbed the Dark book about Herpo's treaties and stared at the pile consisting of other dubious family belongings.
"Sirius, come." She took and tugged his hand again gently, leading him out of the room.
As they entered the corridor, their hands gripped each other's tighter, and Hermione felt a surge of uncontrollable longing and guided Sirius not down the stairs but directly back across the hall, leading him into the centre of his old room.
Sirius became hesitant, even though his eyes were burning with emotion, mumbling, "My old sanctum sanctorum..."
Hermione locked eyes with him and ran a hand up his chest and through his hair, guiding his head downward. "Exactly."
Her lips met his, seeking and demanding that he reciprocate her need. Our need...
"Hermione, are you sure?" he asked, his voice husky and low.
She pressed against his sculpted form, her eyes losing themselves in his grey ones as she slowly caressed his body with her hand lower and lower, down his side, near and around his groin, intentionally not touching his erection.
She heard the book fall to the floor. Wands fell from pockets sporadically as they began to move synchronously towards the bed.
"Sirius," whispered Hermione urgently as he swept her hair back and kissed her neck, his soft mustache tickling her sensitive skin, causing her to tremble uncontrollably, driving her mad. She moaned and undulated as his hands felt and caressed her body, moved with her, held her and followed her movements, both swaying and losing themselves into each other.
Their slow dance of love-making turned quickly into a frantic fandango.
All of the frustration and insanity that they were existing in, experiencing in the here and now exploded, and all Hermione was aware of was Sirius; their bodies melded together, grinding into each other, leaving no parts of each other untouched.
Hermione felt the back of her legs hit the bed, and in the next second, they had tumbled onto the mattress, she rolling on top of him, covering his face with urgent kisses. Sirius nipped and sucked at her neck in between his heated whisperings of "Hermione". Both of their dominant wills challenged and tested the other one's out until Hermione decisively sat up straddling Sirius, panting hard. Her fingers grabbed the bathrobe's belt and unknotted it in quick, determined movements. She heard his breathing become pronounced as she pulled both belt and robe away from his body.
Their eyes met as she reached out and slowly began tracing the mosaic of tattoos and scarred wounds marking his sinewy, sculpted form. Her fingertips traced down the soft tufts of hair of his treasure trail until she reached his lovely cock. She delicately traced its warm firmness and continued on, feeling over his defined thighs and back again to his notable, hardened manhood.
Hermione gazed at him, curious and admiring; her cheeks burned as her eyes met his again.
"Come to me," he pleaded softly.
She slowly lowered herself; her clothed thighs brushed his erect cock's tip as she stretched upwards, meeting his mouth. Her fingertips outlined his rugged jaw-line as their mutual kisses searched and demanded union.
In a delicious haze, Hermione felt Sirius' fingertips exploring her breasts, searching for the opening to her top and, finding none, impatiently grabbing her buttocks, nudged her hips to move forward. She undulated at his insistence, rolling her hips, pressing against his full erection.
Apparently, it was his undoing because she was flipped onto her back, her top pulled up and over her head. She clumsily undid her brassiere as he lowered his head, his mouth capturing one of her nipples, rolling his tongue around and sucking its hardened point while his hands slipped lower to tug her tracksuit trousers down. Eager to be unencumbered by clothing, she helped him pull and take them off as the cool air hit her exposed flesh.
His fingers grazed over the soft, damp cloth of her knickers and continued to slowly explore around and between her legs. As his fingers gently felt underneath the moist material, she heard Sirius moan softly as he discovered how abundant her wetness was. All thoughts of extraneous foreplay seemed to disappear, and he peeled her knickers down, tossing them aside.
Ever so gently, he lowered his head and pressed his lips on her vaginal ones, slowly increasing the pressure with circular motions; the feel of his tongue lapping out strategically over her clit caused a tingling sensation to burst from her core throughout her body, down to the tips of her toes and throughout her breasts.
He broke from this position, impulsively rising upwards, nipping and licking her abdomen, naval, ribs, breasts on the way...on and upward, she felt his ministrations until he reached her awaiting lips that met his with a crushing kiss. Her hands felt his flexing muscles down his back to his buttocks, urging him on until her fingers found and stroked the length of his shaft, stroking him slowly up and down, up and down in an erratic rhythm until she began to pump him in smooth, even strokes. He huffed in between uttering soft expletives. Responding to her will, he pressed his body between her legs spreading for him. She felt his cock's tip seeking entrance and heard Sirius' barely audible, "Please, Hermione..."
"Yes!" she answered and clutched him to her with all her strength, encouraging him to enter her, relishing the feeling of his burning weight pressing down on her. Her breasts were rubbing against his firmness and heat, and she continued to cling to his lean muscular form, her fingers memorizing every inch of him as she felt downward and pressed against his buttocks. She could feel the tip of his cock placed in the centre of her wet heat, but he was delaying, rubbing his knob's end teasingly around her labial folds, poking and pressing against her clit before gradually guiding it back to her vaginal entrance. Her moans were soft and suppressed, waiting for him to plunge inside her. Her muscles clenched in anticipation as she felt Sirius cup her buttocks, and she cried out with release as he slowly pushed the head inside her, sheathing half his cock within her tight, wet heat.
He stopped, gasping, "Fuck, Hermione, you're so tight, love."
He pulled out slowly, and she whispered impatiently, "Sirius," only to be cut off as a bolt of pleasurable sensation coursed through her, feeling his lips firmly nip and suck at her sensitive skin on her neck, the whiskers causing her to tremble again uncontrollably as they pricked and tickled her. Then her mind went blank as she felt him begin to tease her sex with his skilled fingers. All she knew was him caressing her folds, then carefully inserting first one and then a second finger inside her. His burning mouth continued to plant kisses, lowering his head downward again until she whimpered with a breathless mewl, his tongue searching ardently between her vaginal lips and finding her most sensitive nub. His sucking and swirling intensified even as he guided her to lift one leg and place it over his shoulder. She grasped and clawed at his shoulders to brace herself as her body undulated and curled beyond her control.
"Oh, oh my god," she cried in breathless delight, feeling waves of pleasure rolling over her body, building in intensity as he suckled her clit; he was holding one hand placed behind and under her buttocks as the other held and braced her firmly in place. He lapped and sucked, swirling his tongue harder and faster, burrowing into her rhythmically and then back around and on her clitoris, urging her to come, his tongue jutting down and around her swollen nub, tongue fucking her hard without mercy. "Oh, fuck... fuck...," she gasped and gave over to the all consuming sensation, climaxing.
She continued to shudder from his ministrations and abandoned all rational thought as she gave in to and luxuriated in the myriad physical sensations she was riding at the moment. She was only aware of him continuing to kiss and lick around her sex and inner thighs, alternating between placing soft love bites and swirly licks here and there. His fucking, wonderful moustache will be the death of me! she thought, shuddering again in climax at its titillating sensation. As her breathing began to slowly become more normal, he paused to look up at her, gauging her pleasure for several seconds before huskily saying, "I could do this all night. What do you want?"
Breathing heavily, she curled up enough to trace his lips with a fingertip and whispered, "You. Now."
Eagerly complying, he positioned himself again, the tip of his cock placed in her wet heat's entrance.
She lifted her hips, pressing against him, and not needing any more encouragement, Sirius pushed inside her burning wetness, sheathing himself deep within her heat. He drew in his breath sharply and then slowly moved his hips around, his cock being pushed deeper within her, allowing her body to adjust to his size. She gasped and mewled as he proceeded to slowly pull out of her only to then thrust deeper each time in controlled, steady motions. She dug her fingers into his back, and his rhythmic, thumping pace steadily increased, each fucking motion, hard and urgent, inward and upwards, deeper and deeper.
Something opened inside her, a flood of need and longing. Hermione gave over to the sensation and began to meet his thrusts, their rhythms slapping flesh against flesh, the grinding thrusts growing wilder and wilder. Her vaginal muscles began to clench and tighten around his cock, and he gave over to pounding madly into her sex. She held onto him, her fingers grasping where they could to brace herself, trying to meet his vigorous thrusting. But as the feeling of both of their bodies tightening was mounting in an exquisite pain, his huffs of exertion mixed with her cries as a mounting climax impelled them frantically on.
Hermione cried out in wild abandonment as his thrusting increased in dizzying speed and force. She felt her vaginal muscles begin to clamp him even tighter and faster, signalling her unstoppable, oncoming climax. He seemed to feel this intensely, as she heard him moan anew, and their mutual pace of fucking began to blur any known sensibilities of speed. She clenched her eyes from the intensity, seeing flashes of purple and red; her only other awareness was of his thrusting and pounding into her in a blissful rapture of rhythm.
Suddenly, he hit an exquisite, raw spot deep, deep within her, and she froze in ecstasy, crying out, "Sirius!" Her toes curled and her body shook. Convulsing in orgasm, she clawed and clung to him for life. As her fingernails marked his back, a searing bolt seemed to shoot through him, and in rapid, fervent pulses, he stiffened and spent himself, coming deep inside her.

I loved the ideas in this story, nag. The idea of different universes - so dangerous that the knowledge of them has to be hidden deeply within the Ministry. I also loved the way you explored the natures of love and duty, and the conflict between them.... I'm not apologising for the happy ending either! I think that they both could do with a different ending than the one they were giften by JKR!!! Can't wait for your next story, sweetie! Pxx

Thank you for all of your support and feedback--yes, perhaps that kind of knowledge would lead to a kind of madness, knowing that your 'other' is living a life with different choices, different consequences... dangerous indeed. Couldn't/Wouldn't have done the happy ending without your Knuts worth;-) Thank you again for all of generosity--truly, deeply, madly appreciate it!
Some people do not take rejection well.
Unrequited love in canon reverberates through time; unrequited love in this story reverberates through time and space. Good depiction of Flint’s self-delusion that first-Pansy needs his help to realize that he is the one for her. It seems second-Pansy has delusions about Sirius, which makes Flint’s obsession with her a delusion.
Flint’s interrogation explains why Pansy made the choice she made in the previous chapter.
An idea held by the Ministry is that some things (this Dark Magic) should be destroyed. There is no way to use them for good (ie., LOTR). There is also the idea (or belief) that, once destroyed, they cannot be recreated again. Contrary to this are the propositions that nothing is all good or all evil (expressed by Hermione) and that anything one person can create, another can (not expressed in the text) and that one should study this item to develop defenses (which doesn’t appear explicitly in the text).
If this were a scifi story, the two homecoming scenes at the end would depict outcomes in different universes, but in this story, they may not. I can’t recall any previous chapters depicting dual universes.

, for all of your thoughtful reviews throughout this tale--I truly, deeply appreciate all of your detailed observations and feedback! Yes, was trying to depict different states of rejection, unrequited love, self-delusion/delusions and perceptions, and tie them all together--also had this notion of exploring the dubious, seemingly hypocritical nature of the Ministry of Magic, flawed but nevertheless persistent to keep face and keep the status quo consistent and protected.Yes, with this particular tale, I'll leave it up to the reader's interpretation of the ending scenes, how they wish to fill in anything not explicitly given/decided--suggestive and inferred ideas regarding the dual universes--again, thank you for your specific, detailed feedback, as it has helped enriched me and given me so much food for thought--thanks again!

Good chapter. Great tension and suspense. Enough happened and is revealed that it is difficult to comment on all of it. (One would almost have to take notes for a full review.)Did a previous chapter mention that Hermione had a scar on her neck? The conduit process resembles sex closely enough (penetration, possession, small death) that it makes Hermione ucomfortable with Flint. It may have contributed to her loss of control. Pansy and Marcus appear to be under compulsion from their amulets - Pansy less voluntarily than Marcus. A humane Pansy almost broke through. One might wonder if her fond memories are about Sirius or Harry. Marcus is careless enough that one can conjecture he is not the one in control. On the other hand, he may be certain enough of his power to not be discreet.Of course, a question is how much is Malfoy involved.
Response from MHaydn (Reviewer)
I forgot to mention the reversal with Hermione and Harry where she first cautions him about prematurely provoking people before one has solid evidence and then Hermione pulling that stunt in Malfoy's office.

, and the very thoughtful feedback--truly appreciate your insight! Oh yes, it was mentioned in a previous chapter about Hermione's scar on her neck when Sirius traces it with his finger and asks her about it--should have included a reference to it or have had Hermione touch her scar while reflecting on Marcus, Bellatrix memories--thanks again for the keen insight on (missing) details! ) Food for thought!:-) I'm trying to convey that although Hermione is controlled, a professionally disciplined Auror diligently falling back on doing things by the book, when in a new situation her subjectivity and confusion about those and things done by them in the past doesn't fit in the box and even she can be hypocritical or lose control at times. Yes, I feel with this Hermione, the more the sexual elements of the conduit curse sinks in and the realization hits her, the more uncomfortable with Flint she would be; once she has time to solely focus on it, I'm not sure how she will fully react, but for now, it definitely has layered on and contributed to things overwhelming her in the meeting. Who and what Flint has done to her, her fluctuating memories and experience with him, the Lucius of her universe, etc.--takes its toll and is the last straw. Trying to convey it's all happening too quickly, her (worst) conjectures are true, etc. Yes, Pansy, Marcus and their amulets are all intertwined, who exactly her memories are about will be revealed, the narrative spaced out in the final two chapters, and it's a bit of both, regarding Marcus' behaviour--as always, you're spot on! Malfoy's degree of involvement will also be touched upon. Thank you again!
I admit to being as confused as Hermione. Which Flint started this mess, and whom did he (try to?) resurrect? How would he chose the other universe(s)?Do all three Flints gain from the deal?I kinda see why he'd pick Hermione: she's too smart when not thoroughly confused and thus too dangerous.Hoping you'll soon shed more light to this puzzle!Great narration anyhow. Will they now confide in Harry?

, and for your feedback! All will be explained in more detail in the next two, final chapters... well, maybe a brief epilogue, although I will try to cram it all in within the next two chapters. The next chapter's content is fully completed--just waiting for my beta to return from holiday and then I'll queue it. It will explain a lot regarding Flint's detailed motivations, intentions and a partial listing of why he chose Hermione. And then in the final/next to final chapter other details will, hopefully, round out the whole picture. As Hermione realises and confirms in this chapter, 'this' Flint is definitely her Flint--they are both from her universe (don't think I'm letting the cat out of the bag too much with re-confirming that :-) Her Flint definitely started it all, and all we'll know for sure in this story is how this Flint fares, although there will be some speculation about the other two by the end. I appreciate your copmments, and am sorry it's been, perhaps a little too intentional, confusing, so I appreciate your feedback about this.:-)Regarding Harry... next two chapters will reveal the extent of confiding in him;-) Thank you again!
Emotions erupt as the possibility of choosing between worlds arises. Sirius is committed to his true love while Hermione thinks in terms of familiar surroundings and old friends. Hermione might be thinkiing that Sirius will come to resent her because of the separation from his friends. If they are in complete control, they may be able to choose the best mix of different worlds.
Sirius plans a mission that does not include Hermione. I assume he is reacting to what he feels is a rejection.
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you so much for reading and the feedback--truly appreciate it! Yes, as the possibilty of returning draws nearer, both must deal with what each has found and what will be lost, and the acceptance of that. Or not. Control is an issue. Sirius plans, reasons, and decisions will become apparent, his perception of being rejected colouring them. Thank you again!
Oh, my, here goes Sirius the opportunist vs Hermione the stickler for the rules! You've comstructed a particularly fitting set of universes for Sirius' logic.I'm beginning to doubt that the current blend was Flint's intention! Or should I write the Flints' intention?
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you so much for reading and for the feedback--truly appreciate it! So glad that some dubiousness is coming across on some level; we'll see whether Flint, or the Flints , or how Sirius further contributes to Hermione's situation and decisions, etc. Thank you again!
"Get back here, you impetuous man," called Hermione from the bedroom.
"I'm of the moment," cried Sirius, "and I'm checking family mementos.""When I catch you, all Heaven will descend upon you, and fiery Hades will consume your scorning arse," declared Hermione.
And so it did.

! I've been chuckling and grinning like the Cheshire Cat all day by your gift of a review/drabble! Yup, that sums up the whole kit and caboodle of it--he can run but not hide from a woman on *fire*--lol!Thank you for continuing to read and the generous feedback!
Good action sequence. Good portrayal of Sirius and Hermione.
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you for continuing to read and the feedback! So glad the action sequence comes across effective enough as well as the depictions of Sirius and Hermione--thanks again, truly appreciate it!
Marcus and Pansy are such obvious co-conspirators that one wonders why Shacklebolt is not suspicious of them. Why didn’t Sirius detect Marcus suppressing Hermione’s memory?
On the other hand, another Hermione and another Sirius are running around in some other universe. The alternate Hermione was about to marry Ron-of-the-Biker-Chicks and may be a different person. Marcus and Pansy are disrespectful, and this may be pureblood prejudice, but it is also the way police treat suspects.
So, it depends on how twisty you want the tale to be.
Why doesn’t Hermione plan to reach out to Harry and Ginny? At the moment, she is trusting her romantic impulses.
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
, thank you so much for continuing to read and the feedback... truly appreciate it! Whether Shacklebolt is aware of Marcus and Pansy remains to be seen... Maybe a deus ex machina, maybe not... oops! hehe!Sirius not detecting Marcus' supressing Hermione's memory is due to something that's been done to him similarly by our other culprit which comes out a few chapters later, his senses dulled on some levels, and also a mandatory request by my beta to try to write this story through Hermione's eyes only, or as much as possible, as I have a tendency to (and enjoy it) write multiple characters pov's... so it's been and is very much a challenge for me to keep to seeing/experiencing things through her eyes, and/or force/limit the reader to this... I'm not comfortable with it, so I truly appreciate hearing from you what works and doesn't for you, and all the gaps left! Yes, I see that Marcus and Pansy could have multiple twists incorporated in their characterization and function in the plot... The ending is already written for this tale, but maybe in future tales, I can learn and try to layer on more sophisticated plots--this one intentionally being an obvious one, with the obligatory fangirl romance current winning out I was trying to convey that Hermione was still in a state of not knowing who to trust with their 'secret' except Sirius, being freshly thrown into the situation/parallel universe, but maybe she will reach out to others--she might definitely need to. Thanks again for giving me lots to think about!:-)
Response from MHaydn (Reviewer)
Okay, Sirius missing the memory suppression because he has been subjected to it is a subtle point carried to its logical conclusion. Very good.

Both wish to reeturn to their original worlds. Since they are not tempted by new possibilities, their previous lives must have been acceptable to them. Why doesn't the wild Sirius want to explore a brand new world? What does he miss in his home world? Is it the other Hermione?
From the last scene, Flint is more than a physical thug.
The term "Unspeakable Pansy" is almost funny, but what is her relationship to Flint, and her previous relationship to Sirius?
There appears to be a lack of material on alternate universes in the wizard world in contrast to our world which has extensive information, including maps of the near domains. Out of the blue, is the Hogwarts Express a portal between worlds?
(Some of this review is a bit flippant.)
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you so much for continuing to read and for all of your feedback and observations! You're spot on regarding why Sirius, initially, misses his home world. ;-)Yes, there is much more to Flint; I'm loosely, very loosely, trying to explore writing an inverted detective story/'howcatchem', where we (both the writer & reader) are shown the criminal act and apparent, obvious perpetrator(s) but other aspects of the characters and the possible resolution of them may still be up in the air... or something like that--lol! It's fanfiction and the wizarding world so anything is possible--hehe! 'Unspeakable Pansy'--HA! *rolling eyes* The phrase is funny, given the different meaning(s) in a different context--lol! More of her relationship to Flint as well as her past relationship to Sirius will be revealed in the next chapter or two--definitely past history there. Hogwarts Express a portal between two worlds--now there is an idea! Maybe true alternate universes in the wizard world could be a sub-genre--so many possibilities! Thanks again for reading, truly appreciate it!
What a thrilling tale. I am enjoying it very much.
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you so much for reading! So happy that you are enjoying it--thanks for the feedback, truly appreciate it!
Ooh, that evil Flint. What a bastard. Still, there was nekkid Sirius... ;)
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Dearest
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
, yes, there is a nekkid Sirius *waggling eyebrows* Surely she can not let that go unnoticed or to waste (the bathrobe is not fooling anyone, eh? lol!) Hehe... Thank you so much for reading!xxx
You big tease! What did she find out? :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
I have no idea--oh! hehe! More of Hermione's deductive findings in the next chapter--thank you so much for the read, sunny!<3
Ooooh... the plot thickens! Love the way your characterisation of Sirius is developing. I like his vulnerability... and when Marcus Flint asked Hermione to "Remember?"... shivers...! Keep writing! More! More! Pxx
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Dearest proulxes, thank you so much for rereading this and for all of your support! Yes, it's quite an experience writing this side of Sirius, digging deeper into what might be there if... Lot's of ifs--lol! Thank you for all of the nudging *squishy hug* Marcus... Well, he is Mr Innocent, isn't he? Feeling very *smug & smoothe* Thanks again for everything!<3<3<3
Flint looks like a shady bugger in any universe! :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Sunny! Thank you so much for reading--truly appreciate it! And I agree, absolutely, Flint can't fool anyone regardless of where he pops up--'a shady bugger in any universe'-heeeeee! Thanks again!xxx
Love how you have depicted Hermione's confusion and trauma -- and I'm also impressed by Sirius' kindness and care. Perhaps there's something else gogn on here... ;) Pxx
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Aaawww, *squish* thank you for reading, yet again:-) & for your generous feedback before, during and after--I had the help of a dearest friend with the confusion & trauma depiction, couldn't have done it without the one and only proulxes! Yes, I agree, it's, um, *interesting* to see this possible side of Sirius... but maybe only Hermione brings it out of him;-) We'll see what develops between these two in this particular scenario, shall we? lol! Thank you again, for everything!xxx
another great chapter. Looking forward to understand what is going on. I like riddles but unlike Hermione can never understand them. Looking forward to more
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
! I truly appreciate your feedback--more will be revealed about what is going on, and if anyone can solve this, Hermione can:-) We'll see what she does about it! Thank you so much again!
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you so much for continuing to read,
Quite a concoction. Events and emotions from three different universes. Well handled.
I have the feeling that this universe is going to create its own mix of emotions and regrets.
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Oh,
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
, thank you for the read and very thoughtful feedback--truly appreciate it! I'm cracking my knuckles, trying to devise a bit of a mystery plot here (the ending is finished/resolved, however, the characters' developments and narrative in between are fighting back...), wanted to barrel along with the plot... but it became quite clear immediately that the emotions and regrets of each character and the three universes could not be pushed to the side easily... Thank you again for reading!
Response from Fairfield (Reviewer)
Glad to hear about the effort you are putting into the plot. The two characters are initially in shock, but their rational selves will soon assert themselves, and my feelings are that a strong plot is needed to hold this complex scenario together.
Strong enough story to stand on its own. It doesn't really need Hogwarts as a background. It could be any strong and intelligent woman in a society recovering from recent conflict.
Lots of suggestive questions. The narrative presents Sirius as more of an enigma with more potential than Flint (independently of what canon says about them).
Very good.
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Oh,
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
, thank you so much for giving this a read and the very thoughtful feedback--I truly appreciate your keen insight and opinions. With your wonderful eagle-eyed gift, I love how you've described the essence of the personified Hermione in this tale-- she's/it's new unchartered territory for me, so I appreciate, again, that she and the story's set up are coming across as intended.Yes, Sirius... he is presented to Hermione as very much an ambiguous presence in this first chapter, and Flint the seemingly obvious one--trying to explore character dichotomies in a more focused way in this story than in some of my other ramblings;-) We'll see how it goes... Again, thank you for your thoughts!
Hmm, interested to see where this goes and what's going on.
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you so much for the read and the feedback--truly appreciate it! Story is completed, just have to re-write/fill out some of the middle chapters a bit more, but next is in queue. More of how they both got to this time & space and what is going on more specifically in the next chapter--thank you again for reading a rare pair!
Woo hoo! It's here! Love the characters in this story - can't wait to see it played out! Pxx
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Yes, our baby has finally arrived--lol! Seriously, thank you so much for your nerves and talent you've given/shared with me and this story and characters (no, I didn't mean your blood, sweat & tears... did I? hehe!) These characters couldn't have fleshed out as they have without your nudging & nurturing-thank you again, from the bottom of my heart!naggy pooh
Intriguing, I like a good riddle. I Wonder if Flint is the villain here, and it is nice to meet Sirius agin, it looks like they are together in this time. Looking forward to read more
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you so much for reading and the feedback--truly appreciate it! There will be more of Flint and others;-) and more of how they came to be together in this time in the next chapter (story is completed, just must re-write some in-between chapters with more filling out of the riddling parts in more detail)- Thanks again for reading!xxx
A deduction and action chapter that settles the current criminal case, but leaves many things unexplained.
It appears to have brought our pair closer together.
Accusations and questions are flying. About events in different worlds. And who knows what a slightly different Sirius or Pansy might or might not have done. Or the crazed Marcus.
The chapter suggests that obsession with love - either as a profession in the case of the Department of Mystery personal or as an emotion in the case of Marcus - can be dangerous.
Sirius is revealed as more competent than Hermione had assumed.
At this point, I'm not certain whether or not Sirius and Hermione have counterparts who are now in the wrong universe.
We may discover that some things are irreversible and some things must remain unexplained.
(Canis Major at its zenith. )
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you so very much for continuing to read and the detailed feedback--truly appreciate it!Reference to Sirius' and Hermione's counterparts in the other universes will be touched upon in the next/final chapter. Hoping to tie up many of the numerous loose ends of the multiple half-explained or completely unexplained things--perhaps a few will be left for the reader to fill in as they wish, but other things will be specifically, finitely expressed for this version of this tale. Again, thank you for taking the time to give this a read--and I love the Canis Major at its zenith!
An interlude of remembrance, discovery, and bonding.But. Being impetuous is seen as a fault in Sirius, but perhaps it is a matter of his being totally connected to the moment, and its other manifestation is being totally connected to the ones he loves to the point of being willing to die for them.
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Dear
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
, thank you for reading and the thoughtful feedback--yes, Sirius is impetuous and the observations about him being connected to the moment as well as being totally connected to the ones he loves will perhaps lead him to make decisions that will clash with how Hermione sees decisions needing to be made, due to his nature... Thank you again, truly appreciate it !
Excellent, really satisfying description of Knockturn Alley which sets the scene for an exciting fight which leaves Sirius seriously wounded -- eek! Can't wait for the next one to post, nag. This is a really enjoyable mystery. Pxx
Response from nagandsev (Author of Parallel Dilemma)
Thank you so much for all of the feedback--as you well know, I've been very loosely trying to follow an inverted detective story *thingy* here, a 'howcatchthem' of sorts... I'm so happy you like the Knockturn Alley vision (I know I took extra liberties with it, but yes, I also find it hard to believe that all of Magical London is confined to two narrow alleys, etc., so thank you for entertaining this notion)--thank you again for everything!
