Molly interferes, Ron is a twit but gets over it, Lucius is reformed (well, a bit), Draco grows up, Ginny is a good friend (apart from recommending the shoes), Harry is a hero, and Hermione has fun and spends a lot of time in a library. Snape, meanwhile, considers that he is getting his usual shit deal from fate, although to be fair, he never expected to find a family of his own.

*looks for next chapter button* *wails that it's not there* You know, despite all the comedy in this chapter, there's such inherent pathos too that my eyes filled with tears. Poor Severus. Poor Hermione. I really, really hope Molly gets her come-uppance for this. (Though at the same time, I suspect a child of Severus and Hermione will end up being very much cherished.)

Next chapter is in the queue! If I allowed myself to write what I would like to happen to Molly, things could get quite gory. I must be a horrible person, I really like putting my characters through the emotional wringer...

WHAT A BITCH, why in the name of all that's wonderful didn't Molly reverse the spell, when Ron and Hermione broke up? Did it just slip her mind, that she had violated her daughter in-law. I'm sure Severus and Hermione will cope with all this, and build a life together, but that can not abslove Molly of this crime.

Personally I haven't forgiven Molly for any of her crimes either. Particularly for trying to keep the Trio in complete ignorance because she wanted them to remain children. Lucky for her Hermione is a forgiving sort, although maybe the Slytherins have plotted a subtle revenge...

Hell hath no fury, like a Slytherin scorned, and Severus has been well scorned.

Dinner was wonderful, and the lemon pie for desert, a yummy unexpected treat.

Hermione is certainly held her own, and in that company, it was no mean feat.

So much in one chapter, Severus is alive , Lucius has turned over a new leaf, a little one but it's a start, Ron showing signs of growing up, now he just needs to grow a set, and stand up to his mother, and Hermione shows everyone what true class looks like.

Ron was so quick to want a divorce,it could make your head swim, and as for Molly, her attitude is beneth contempt. It seems that Hermione{ or indeed any woman} has no value except as a brood mare. I can't help but wonder, what their attitude would be, if it had been Ginny that had been cursed, and Harry had casted her aside, with as little compassion and respect.
Response from gingertart (Author of Out of the Shadows Came a Rose)
Hm, good point. I admit that I don't really think Hermione and Ron were suited to each other; he wanted a family and when he knew that he couldn't have one with Hermione, he was looking for a way out. He wanted an earth-mother type more like his own mother. Hermione wanted someone to match her brain...

I usually can't get into Mpreg stories, but I'm hooked and hoping for more soon.

Oh I hope Molly sees the inside of a cell soon, she has no bussness interfering in any ones life like that. She would be outraged if it happened ro one of her children abd demand that the person who did this be kissed or sent to Askban to rot. Im gad Severus decided to carry the baby and knows how much this means to Hermione, their is still hope for them. I can't wait for pregnecy sex to kicks in.

I really don't like Molly at all, I never did. Overbearing Mother-knows-best woman! I understand why Bill went to Egypt and Charlie to Romania...

Molly is quite creepy here, really, and probably ought to check into Hotel Azkaban for a bit. Love the characterizations of Hermione, Lucius and of course Severus. Compulsively readable :)

Glad you're enjoying it! I think canon Molly is creepy. She knew that Harry met Voldemort on an almost annual basis, yet insisted that the Trio were kept in ignorance because 'they're just children' and she didn't want them to grow up, then she used the killing curse on Bellatrix. Obviously that's not Unforgiveable if you use it on a baddie. Even Harry didn't use it on Voldie...

I agree with the reviewer that Molly should end up in Azkaban. She attacked a man by proxy. That is a crime. Severus is living a nightmare, like in the movie Alien, of having something foreign invade his body and subvert his blood and tissue, consuming him to live.I don't agree with the POV of "she really didn't understand the ramifications of her actions" She understood that she would force someone to get pregnant and give birth. Just like the Nazis did. This whole concept of "all's well that ends well" sucks. Severus has been victimized (by Molly not by the baby) and the victimizer needs to pay. Whether people are happy about the baby is irrelevent. If Severus and Hermione had asked Molly to cast a charm to help them have a baby, it would be different. They had not. They were not wittingly or willingly participating in her scheme. Also, the fact that she cursed her uncared-for, "expendable" daughter-in-law rather than enabling the son she claimed to be helping to conceive. And her curse stripped the free will of the person by forcing them to become pregnant. And she kept her actions and their consequences a secret from her victim Hermione. This proves to me that Molly knew the curse was criminal behavior and did it anyway.Molly is not a prankster, she is a criminal. She should be locked up.
Response from gingertart (Author of Out of the Shadows Came a Rose)
I dislike Molly intensely and I think someone who prevented the Trio from being taught what they needed to defend themselves because they were 'just children' and who was capable of casting the killing curse (that even Harry didn't use on Voldemort) was not a nice person. She also blamed Hermione when Rita Skeeter wrote that Hermione was two-timing Harry with Krum. Really? Molly preferred to believe a muck-raking journalist rather than the girl who was Harry's best friend? A girl who was 14 years old? We're not talking about an adult here but an adolescent girl.Although Hermione and Ron didn't ask her to interfere, she was aware that they were trying for a baby. It still was no excuse.

What a marvellous update, I absolutely loved it. I am quite sure that no matter what complaints SEverus gives, he will not let his son out of his sigth after he is born. I trust him to scheeme at his very best to find a way to keep the baby, Hermione and Lucius in his life :-))

I don't quite understand how she got away with casting the killing curse, I thought that it was Unforgiveable? But then, Mother knows best... Glad you're enjoying it!

*snigger* I'd have paid good money to see Molly's face when she realised Ron would have had to carry the child himself rather than Hermione. ^_^

Oh yes, Molly never did think things through. If she had, she would have encouraged everyone to teach the Trio how to fight, not keep them in ignorance because they were 'just children'. You may have guessed that I don't like her...

Oh well. Usually I steer clear of MPreg-fics but Severus is so dear and believable as a disgruntled pregnant person. Thank you!

This was an awesome chapter, more than I had ever hoped for. I loved the dinner conversation between the three of them and especially the desert. I had no idea they would end up in bed so quickly but it was quite delicious. Of course she woke up alone, now they have to come to terms with it all. Molly, yep..denial anyone? She can be quite nasty when she wants to be that is for sure. I am happy that Harry and Ginny are still there for her and thought it was hysterical the way Harry tried to get Hermione to tell him what was going on with Draco. I am so looking foward to the next chapter. :D
Response from gingertart (Author of Out of the Shadows Came a Rose)
Glad you liked it! Oh yes, Molly doesn't see why she should explain herself to anyone younger than she is - mother knows best, after all! She was pretty horrible to Hermione in canon when she thought that Hermione was two-timing Harry - when Hermione was, what, fourteen years old? So I fear that I indulge in a little Molly-bashing now and then...The next chapter is on its way!

I think most of us could get off on our perceived Snape/Alan Rickman voice. That part totally made me shudder....mmmm!

Oh yes.... Alan was really too old to play Snape, I think, but his voice was perfect. Makes me melt...

I've got this on alert, as I can't bear to miss a chapter. The characterizations are spot-on. Everyone has grown into themselves, and they are dealing with things, so far at least, on a plausibly adult level. I love it when the story takes us deeper into magic. In short, I'm happily following your lead.

After re-reading the story, I have a question. The healer tells Hermione she has been cursed and Hermione assumes it was at the final battle (not a curse you would expect to see in a life-and-death battle though is it?) BUT Molly's comment about a ritual makes me wonder if it wasn't Molly who cursed her in order to get her out of the family. If so, then perhaps the curse has not had as much time to set in as the healer had assumed and Hermione could be healed to some degree?Since that doesn't fit with the "male pregnancy" indicator, I doubt Hermione will be healed but it got me thinking about the lengths to which Molly would go to get what she wants. I can imagine her feeling completely justified in cursing an intractable Hermione.Yes, I realize the divorce from Ron is the key plot device to free Hermione for Severus; however, if Molly has had a hand in causing her pain, then she should face the consequences. I never quite understand when there are no consequences and everyone adopts an "all's well that ends well" approach. To my mind, the worst thing that could happen to Molly would be for all of her kids to stop speaking to her (which she wouldn't understand since her curse was justified)...I am looking forward to see where you take your story.
Response from gingertart (Author of Out of the Shadows Came a Rose)
I never did like Molly, so I fear that I use her as a scapegoat in my fics rather a lot. She was the adult who, despite knowing that Harry and his friends had fought Voldemort almost every single year, still insisted that they were told nothing, kept in ignorance, given few weapons to fight with and treated as kids, simply because she didn't want them to grow up too fast. She didn't actually do anything to keep them safe. However, I don't think that she would actually curse Hermione, that would go against everything she had done. Try to ensure that Hermione had children (without actually checking if she wanted them - Molly knew Ron wanted them but she didn't actually ask Hermione herself) is a very Molly thing to do - Mother knows best, after all. I think that actually Hermione might have been cursed, not by a Death Eater, but by someone sneaky with a grudge; another student, perhaps, such as Marietta? Or maybe it was a result of a couple of different curses colliding. And someone may tell Molly what they think of her...
