After dying in the Shrieking Shack, Severus Snape is sent back so that he can learn to be a functional human being. In spite of the strides he appears to make, he and his very own “Clarence” know that it’s mostly window-dressing.
Hermione Granger doesn’t regret the choices she made during the war, but that doesn’t stop her seeking some sort of absolution for some of the consequences. If she could let go of her guilt, she might learn to believe she’s got abilities beyond being a swot.

Hmmm. Still lots of stuff we don't know or understand, here. Unless I'm being unusually dense. Very intriguing story--I like the way that, you've managed, even though you're giving us multiple points of view, to leave us sharing the mystification of both Severus and Hermione, not what they actually know. I look forward to future chapters in this intriguing work, which I deduce is going to be long and complicated (given that we're at chapter two of Book One).

You aren't being dense at all! The story is only just beginning. Thanks for reading.

This is quite fascinating. I'm not sure I understand the whole premise of the Inner and Outer worlds you've set up here, but it's a fascinating one. The only thing that strikes me as odd here is the conclusion that Severus was too young for his role. He's always struck me as the quintessential adult, at least in his later years, accepting responsibility for his actions, and making choices to benefit of the entire community, not just his own selfish interests, and caring for the children in his charge with concern and caution--although not with love and grace, I admit, and perhaps that's your point. But it does seem to me that, despite the missteps of his adolescence, he did completely grow up (in ways that many people don't) during his thirty-eight yers. But perhaps this will all become clearer in future chapters, which I'm off to read. Oh, and I love your description of the difficulties of reconciling grief and victory.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's always fascinating to see different perspectives on a character! My view of Severus Snape is different to yours on almost ever point you listed, so I'm not surprised you find this prologue "odd".I won't go into the wherefores here because there are bits that aren't relevant to the story and the relevant bits are relevant, so I won't spol except to say that Snape lack "love and grace" was and is not my point.

This is.. WOW.. I'm hooked already. :)

Yay! I'm glad to know it!

As an afterthought, I'm glad that you made Severus to be an "young" (and unattached) Real Person. With Lily and James already older (and, presumably, together) Severus never really had a chance with her. It's a lovely way to free him up for.. ahem.. someone else (not to mention, a chance at true happiness and love). I look forward to him finding his "forever" Real Person partner. ;)
Response from TeaOli (Author of Lessons in Metempsychosis and Saṅsāra)
I hadn't really thought of it in those terms, to be honest. His relative youth compared to the other Real People has more to do with what Tobias and Eileen were talking about than anything else.

Very intriguing start. I like that Fred seems to be a facet here. Loved the bickering among 'spirits'.
Response from TeaOli (Author of Lessons in Metempsychosis and Saṅsāra)
Thank you! Fred isn't quite ready to not be Fred, whatever he might try to say later. The "Real People" are still just people, and things have just been waiting to come to a head with Dumbles.

Nice twist with a certain librarian! I had a good laugh with the bikering on 'the other side' - and S having to say his piece in a pre-adolescent voice, poor lad. Looking forward to more!!
Response from TeaOli (Author of Lessons in Metempsychosis and Saṅsāra)
Librarian? ~pretends to look confused~I reckon folks don't automatically become wiser or more mature just because they've died, so the bickering was a given, under the circumstances. Poor S, though. Did I really have to prove the point so pointedly with him?

How interesting! And how much like my own explanation I gave to my very young daughters when my mother (their Grammy) died. "You don't need your body anymore when you die, so you take it off, just like clothes. You're still there, you just look different." Hence the "flesh suits!" But in the story, it seems that there's unfinished work to be done. I wonder what exactly that all is?

Thanks for reading and reviewing. What great explanation you gave your children!

Wow! What a great story line. I can hardly wait for the rest of this. I lean towards the East in my spiritual practice, and this is right up my alley.

Thanks! I'm glad to know you've enjoyed it so far. If you lean towards "non-Western" schools of thought, you should like what is to come.

I like it. I look forward to more. I enjoy a supernatural twist. 37 Chapters? I love a long story....

Thnak you for reading an denjoying! (There are currently far more than 37 chapters, I'm afraid, but I'm trying to get it down to a nice pointy number: 45.)

Okaaay? I'll have to keep reading before I voice any kind of opinion, but the premise is... interesting. ^_^

No worries. I recognise this story definitely won't be for everyone.

I am MOST intrigued !! I suspect I'll need to dust off my brain for this one.

Thanks so much! I think you'll get by without dusting off your brain, so long as you open your mind.

If that's a sneaky way of saying "Stop fiddling about with Chapter 37 and get on with fixing 2 through 5"..... Kidding! Thanks so much, lin! You and karelia are really helping me to whip this monster back into shape.

Severus is so lonely, it breaks my heart. The sooner Hremione has her way with him the better.

Severus needs to learn that love comes in many ways.

Keeping Severus in the dark, will not endear them to him. Hermione has made the first move, sonow we will have to wait and see what happens.

Oh, what a tangled web... Yes, there is a lot going on that Severus should know about. Everyone's intentions are good, but you probably know what has been said about good intentions.

Yes, they are used as paving, to some very nasty destinations.

I cannot pretend to understand everything in this story but I am afraid that Severus will not take kindly to all of them planning behind his back. I am looking forward to more.

Ooh, Knowi didn't warn him about impertinent little burglars... Clever cat! You'd think that an ancient soul like Albus would know better than to twinkle inappropriately... Wouldn't dream of interfering? Hah! I don't believe him!
Response from TeaOli (Author of Lessons in Metempsychosis and Saṅsāra)
Knowi has her own agenda, I'm sure!As for Albus... Well, I'm sure his feelings are hurt that so few people – Real or dressed in flesh – believe his intentions are honourable!
