EWE. Marriage is not all roses and sunshine, when Nagini's venom proves unexpectedly potent. Angst, angst, and more angst.

He is up and running, sort of speaks. Severus need to take his live back, one way or another. And however I think he is sceaming something bad, Go Severus.
Hmmmm. Snape's got something up his sleeve.
I have a very bad feeling that Severus is setting Hermione up to take a major fall. My guess is he's planning something that will humiliate her in front of her closest friends and expose her for what he thinks she is. Whatever he's up to, it's so not going to end well for anyone, is it?
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
I shall neither confrim nor deny your speculations. *grin* Glad you're enjoying the story.
I have a terrible sense of dread - he's up to something and it's not pleasant... Don't you dare have him kill himself or her in front of everyone who loves her (and him, if he wasn't too much of a damn git to see that...) Alright, yes, I'll admit it - I want a deus ex machina here, ok???? Or an Albus ex machina??? About time that old meddling s.o.b. made himself actually useful !!!
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
*grin* Sounds like you're enjoying the story. Thanks for reviewing!
Response from moiramountain (Reviewer)
Oh, most certainly - and I'm sure we're all eager to know if the next chapter is in queue? Well????
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
Next chapter is being written.
Response from moiramountain (Reviewer)
Hurrah !!!
Sneaky Sev is sneaky, but should consider the benefits of communicativeness instead.
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
Possibly so. But sneaky is more fun to write.
Oh this IS intriguing. I can't wait to read more!
Oh dear, oh dear.
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
*evil grin* Is "oh dear, oh dear" a good thing or a bad thing?
Mmmmm, a bit enigmatic conversation... I begin to fear what your next chapter will bring. I hope we didn't make a mistake asking you to continue ;)As we say in Italy, "il peggio non è mai morto", which literally means "Worst is never dead", which again means "something worse can always be waiting for you just round the corner".I sincerely hope not. But we asked for an understanding, not for a happy ending... Brrrrr!
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
Next chapter is up. I'll await your comments with bated breath.
This sounded too easy. Love this story!
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
Ya think? Stay tuned!
Yay for more of this story! This leaves open so many questions. Does he understand that she means to take him with her? Does he care? I am almost more worried by the fact that they didn't fight about it. The fact that there was antidote research mentioned makes me hopeful, but I also can see them finding a cure, but not until it is too late. I don't know you well enough to know whether to expect doom and gloom, or some semblance of a happy ending. *is nervous*
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
*grin* With a name like Doomspark, are you expecting "fluffy and light" from me? I can't answer any of your questions without giving away anything, so I'll just say "Stay tuned."
Stupid, stupid Hermione! Has she even told him she has a job yet?
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
Nope. They're misunderstanding each other rather magnificently.
Hmm... the sense of foreboding in this chapter is very strong, and I haven`t forgotten that there is a character death warning for this story..... makes me afraid to continue.Thank you for a great story, nonetheless. :)
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
Glad you're enjoying it thus far. I'm working on the next part.
...somehow this worries me more than the LACK of communication. Gah!
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
Aren't misunderstandings wonderful?
He's far too calm about all of this, isn't he? But, at least they spent five minutes in the same room... Oh, and aren't you the hero for giving us more of this tale !! A grain of hope... tiny.... but it's there...
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
snape has more up his sleeve than his elbow.
Ooh, nice way to take it sideways.
Has Severus been scheming with the elf?
He seems to be accepting the situation very readily, and they haven't even discussed her job yet, let alone the ten years bit.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Wait a minnit.... where does Severus think she's leaving him? Does he think she's taking him with her to the US, or leaving him behind? And if her division involves Antidote Research, isn't anyone researching an antidote to snake bites? Fingers still crossed for a happy S&H ending. THANK YOU for the new chapter!
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
Can't answer anything without giving everything away. Aren't misunderstandings wonderful?
ITA with the other reviewers - there MUST be a way this can be rectified! I am okay with angsty endings if people are going to choose to be alone, but this situation is heartbreaking. Could Hermione find whatever Severus or St. Mungo's used on Arthur Weasley, to heal him from Nagini's bite, to use on Severus? Maybe they could tweak it a little? Or could it be that the effects were only temporary? Got to be an answer there somewhere!! Good luck finding something!
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
I've bowed to the will of my readers and am working on the next installment. I has a cunning plan - to quote Black Adder.
Response from Severus49 (Reviewer)
How did you know I love Blackadder? I'll take Miranda Richardson for 200 and raise you a Stephen Frost! Do you have any Hugh Lauries? How about a Nursie?
Ooh, he doesn't want to listen and she doesn't want to talk anymore. You've given her a good opportunity to possibly find a way out for him in the artefacts department at Gringotts, or at least the chance for a magically beneficial object... ;)
Well done and thanks for sharing!
Argh!!!! They both need to talk, but is that going to happen? Depends on what mood Doom is in, and with a name like Doom, the odds are not good. C'mon, Doomie... Severus is not paralyzed from the neck up so he can still talk and listen!!Thanks for pulling me in to this story!'
Response from June W (Reviewer)
PS - I just noticed the warning for Character Death. Sigh....
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
Well yeah... I do kill off Minerva. That's what the character death warning was for. And I did say "Angst, angst, and more angst." in the summary.More seriously - I really don't know how to write myself out of this one. I'm giving it some thought. The funny thing is, this was supposed to just be a one-shot - the first chapter, and that was it.And on a completely different note, I'm about half done with the next chapter of Varlet.
Response from June W (Reviewer)
Varlet! Varlet! YAY!!!
Oh, dear. Poor thing, poor thing. Please, please let them communicate!
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
They both need to be whacked upside the head with a clue-bat.
I assume he AK'd himself? Is there a reaction?
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
No he hasn't... he just wishes he could. Or perhaps he wishes he could AK Hermione.
Response from chyara (Reviewer)
lol...so much easier if she tells him what she's doing.
Truth has always two sides and, in this case, both sides have heartbreaking reasons to suffer. I agree with two of your previous reviewers and I join them in their plea. Please help Hermione and Severus. Please fix this situation. Just a little. A tiny little fragment in their daily routine that could make their life more bearable. Hermione shouldn't tell the whole truth to Severus - knowing it would only make him more desperate and bitter - but she could reassure him. Misery is much more tolerable when there is an understanding. But something tells me that you aren't going to comply with our request...In any case, touching story. Thanks for sharing and for exposing also Hermione's POV. Best regards from Italy.
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
I'll think about it, although I'm really not sure quite HOW to fix it. A challenge for the Muse, definitely.
Response from Memory (Reviewer)
Well, thank you for considering our request. It's definitely a challenge, but I'm sure that a student of human nature - as you are - will find a solution. Ever experienced anything similar in your life? I did, unfortunately, and still bearing the consequences. Perhaps this is why I would like to see at least this situation fixed. Thanks again.
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
My grandfather had a stroke when I was in my teens, and his care fell on my parents. It made, shall we say, a lasting impression on me.
I thought that the first chapter was sad and angsty, but this part made it so much worse. The strain on both parties is palpable as this is so well written. It is amazing how differently two people can view the same situation. I think this says it is complete, but it would be wonderful to have a final chapter. Not for a happily ever after; there is no way they are going to achieve that. But if they could just come to some sort of understanding, closure of a sort, even though this situation isn't over. Does it help if I beg? Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Response from Doomspark (Author of Discard)
I'm glad you enjoyed Discard. It's one of my "student of human nature" stories - how unresolved misunderstandings can lead to an intolerable situation. I'll give some thought to your request for an extension.
Just, Wow. How terribly sad for both of them...
Ouch! Those two need to do some serious communicating! :)
