I agree, I think that when she has some time to think about the situation more clearly, long term, once she's conceived and will have the child, she's hoping that her and Draco will finally be able to have a separate life, away from Lucius... but I'm also not sure that Lucius will let his particular connection with her go... Oh, poor young Astoria. She really is caught in the middle here. And perhaps Lucius can regain some of his humanity in his interactions with her, though I won't hold out hope.

Yes, I think the cad is enjoying indulging himself too much, taking liberties of Astoria and the situation, immediately to suit his needs at the moment... Hmmn, regaining some humanity in his interactions with her--depends on the level of self-gratification/selfishness he needs fulfilled and his sense of power--whether he'll moderate his actions, or not *shrugging-and-also-not-holding-out-much-hope* He's always struck me as quite use to getting his way regardless of the effect on others... Oh, poor Draco. And poor Astoria caught in the middle. And this is definitely a different look at Lucius. I like how prison didn't really break him, but made him colder and harder.

I'm wondering how much of Lucius' softer side you're going to explore. If they really are going to have a child together then his tender emotions might be the most dangerous part of this whole thing...Also, still very hot!

Quite the chapter: preparing for a flashback, presenting the dilemma, and offering character sketches. Astoria trying to do the proper thing but torn by external problems and internal conflict. She has restored Draco, but has trouble defending herself. Draco is loyal. He defends Astoria and tries to be a dutiful son, but the two are not compatible. Lucius is an autocratic patriarch, and defeat and imprisonment have made him even more inhumane. Narcissa remains a puzzle. She is mouthing platitudes and performing token acts of charity that please the authorities while meaning nothing to her.

Thank you so much for reading and the feedback; this was initially written in response to a request to a specific prompt for a tailored storyline and, warning, a request for the exploration of as much smut as possible per chapter within the scenarios (so may come across as pretty one-levelled for most of the content), but since then has slowly taken on other subplots, however it will stick to and end as requested, eventually--lol! I needed to plunge on into and set up the relationships in this post-war setting, dilemmas, and a selected take on characterizations for this one. Narcissa's attitude and participation will slowly be more explicit and involved. Thank you again for the read, truly appreciate it!
