When Snape arrives at Malfoy Manor and saves Hermione from torture, he ends up seeing her in a different light. A tale of love, obsession, and learning to let go, told in three parts. Not a stereotypical romance.

I'm a fan of the Harry Potter series. My favourite character is Severus Snape. Complex, intelligent and sexy, he is the tragic hero of the series. I hate how JK Rowling killed him off in Deathly Hallows, and it was what inspired me to write my first ever fanfiction.
I mostly read SS/OC and SS/HG, but occasionally other pieces that catch my attention. I don't like stories that drag on and on without much happening and rarely read anything over 100,000 words unless it is very good. I'm quite forgiving about typos and punctuation errors, but poor style or grammar puts me off straight away, as does OOC. I like realism and don't fancy excessive time travel, de-aging, obscure family links and Snape the vampire stories.
About me:
I am a thirty-something female and mother of two boys. I am German and hence not writing in my mother tongue.
All my stories are totally canon compliant. Not that I mind AU, I just enjoy exploiting the many gaping holes JKR has left us fanfiction authors!
My other stories at Sycophant Hex and Fanfiction.net:
Flying With The Raven is set during HBP and DH and pairs Snape with an adult OC who is on a par with him. It is a Snape survival story, offering plenty of romantic fantasy fodder. Snape's characterisation focuses more on his noble side, prickly shell notwithstanding. Yes, this is self-insertion, but I am willing to share if I get a few reviews in return. ;-)
Wishing On A Star is a post-DH story pairing Snape and Sinistra and is still work in progress (I know it's been a few months since I updated, but be assured I will never abandon this story!). Snape is a more flawed character here than in FWTR. And it won't be until he can stop blaming unfavourable circumstances and other people for his misery that he will change and find happiness.
Reviews for Beyond Captivation
I love this story. I hope you continue it! I think it's clever the way you put Snape into the Malfoy Manor scene. I'm not great at reviews I just know when I like a story!
Response from Laurel (Reviewer)
Oh crap, I forgot to say that Severus/Bella is an interesting pairing to me only in that I'd love to see him fuck her to within an inch of her life then leave her unsatisfied... that's how I picture them and I liked that you made her throw herself at him and he rejected her soundly.
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for your wonderful review! I think Snape is smart enough to stay well away from Bella... She is likely to have some twisted agenda!
Interesting that Hermione doesn't tell anyone of her experiences with Snape at Malfoy Manor, despite the fact that she could have left out certain details. And, what will Severus see the next time he has occasion to look into Hermione's mind if not her dreams? Hmmm.Nice weaving of your story with canon. I like your details and filler information. I'm ready to find out where you'll take us next. Ready for more HG/SS interaction, to be sure.Enjoy your writing.
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Well, she'd have to leave out almost everything, and face a whole lot of questions for sure!Glad you like how the story is woven into canon. The next chapter is queued and will have more SS/HG.
Excellent chapter, quality writing, just like I've come to expect by now :) Loved the smut, of course, and her hesitation, which makes it the more believable :)
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for your wonderful review. Glad you like the smut - there will be more to come soon.
Liked this chapter immensely, and particularly Snape's warring emotions in the latter part :)
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for reading and reviewing! glad you liked Snape's emotions, the last part was quite tricky to write.
I found this to be interesting and enjoyable; I liked it and I like how you described what to expect from the story. Naturally, I very much enjoyed seeing glimpses of Snape from Hermione's viewpoint. :-)
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks so much for your review! Glad you enjoy it so far.
Well, it's all moving along quickly isn't it? Bella is insane, Severus is right. Crazy loon.
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
The pace comes with fitting into canon and telling a whole story in six chapters... Thanks for reviewing!
I'm on the edge of my seat, please, please say there's an update coming soon!
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for reviewing! Yes there is, and it's available now.
Excellently-written dream sequence! You know how to write fantasies good!
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for your review! I'm glad you enjoyed the little fantasy.
Sounding good. Well written. Can't wait to read more. Thanks.
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thank you!
Dang, that had just about every emotion thinkable in it!
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for reading and reviewing! Yes, quite an emotional rollercoaster ride!
just found this story - returned to the site after a long period of RL kicking in and leaving me hardly any time to read (or write). Really very curious to know what happens next. So far, they're not OOC - the tension and attraction are quite credible, even within canon. True love between those two is another thing of course, they'll have a long way to go, not yet knowing each other at all. But this is a most promising start.
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for your review. I'm glad you like it so far and think that they are not OOC.
This is new. And I am cringing at the thought of what happens next.Livvy
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for your review. No worries, it shouldn't make you cringe ;-)
More, more, more! :D can't wait for the next chapter, already got my beady eye spotting it's in the queue! :) x
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for your review. I hope it won't be long for the next chapter to be up.
Man, such a good chapter!
I know life makes it's demands on busy fanfic authors, but I hope you update at leassst once a week...? Pleaase?
I love the narrative and the way your story is going! I wish Snape had indeed stolen the kiss from Hermione, or that maybe they both kissed at the same time, but hopefully that will come...?
Lol you have another fan eagerly anticipating how your story comes out! :)
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks so much for your review! There will be a kiss eventually, and more... The story is actually finished, and I'm adding chapters as quickly as TPP validation will allow. No chance of this getting abandoned!
Definitely hate the cliffie. When Severus' anger and pride get in the way anything can happen. I like the way you explored both their feelings especially Severus panic of having to continue in this role for possibly years. Looking forward to more.
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks so much for your review! I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter.
oh - quick post the 2nd half of this chapter. I just started reading your work and quickly read all 3 installments. You have a great storytelling voice and I look forward to reading more

oh herbologist, you are so evil with this cliffy! Excellent!
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for the read and review! The next chapter is queued. You see I'm not *that* evil!
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
I do like cliff-hangers, though. As long as a story doesn't get abandoned. That drives me a bit crazy. I love the update bookmark feature!
Indeed, I am anxious to read on. You've crafted a compelling narrative and frankly I'd like to see Snape get his rocks off. Hope to see the next chapter soon!
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for your great review. The next chapter is queued and should be up very soon - there will be some of that eventually. :-)
Hey, like it so far.Bad bad Cliffie, please update soon, promise i will be a good girl and leave a review for you. ;-)
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for your review and glad you like it so far. The next chapter is queued and should be up very soon.
Awww.... no way! You can't stop it there!
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks for reading and reviewing! I had to stop somewhere... :-)
I hardly leave any reviews these days because I fear that the authors might feel driven to adapt their stories to the "mainstream" wishes where they should - in my view - stick to their own plans. So I will only say this: can't wait indeed :-)
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
No worries, this one will be far off the mainstream, possibly too much so for some people's taste. Thanks for your review, and do leave one again - there is no chance of swaying me from what I need to write, but I love to know what people think (good or bad).
I, for one, am definitely, thoroughly enjoying this story, and cannot wait for the next update!!...However, if I may try to at least explain my reasons for perhaps not leaving a review before this...? Most of the time, I am not near an actual computer during the rare free time I have that I can devote to reading fanfic, and must instead read it on the tiny screen of my iPhone. For whatever reason, the TPP website and the iPhone browser are incompatible, and while I can sign in and read stories, it will not allow me to type a review. I try to remember to review the stories when I next get to a computer, but usually by then I am working and not able to take a few minutes to go to TPP and leave the much-deserved reviews. I sincerely apologize. Maybe some of your other readers have the same obstacle?
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
I totally understand... I never used to review (somehow being to shy) until I started writing myself and understood how much it means to an author. I really appreciate your review, and even more so for the trouble taken. Thank you!
Oh my! What else can be said? Poor Hermione, but also poor Severus. What will he do next? How will Hermione react when she awakens? So many questions - eagerly awaiting the next chapter. Please tell me there will be some resolution?!?Enjoy your writing, great story so far.
Response from herbologist (Author of Beyond Captivation)
Thanks so much for your great review. I'm glad it left you wondering and eager for more. The next chapter is queued and should be up very soon.
