The war is over, and so is Hermione’s marriage. An embittered Ron has walked away, leaving her empty and in terrible debt. Draco Malfoy has barely escaped life in Azkaban, and more recently, a torturous marriage to Pansy Parkinson. He, however, feels no pain until his mother is abducted, taking the only person left in his world. When Draco decides to hire Hermione to help him, they discover a disturbing perversion of nature in fey form, an enraged and envious villain, and something neither of them ever expected—each other.

I am a published author now! My novel is called Separate and is a suspenseful paranormal romance. It is available on Amazon and Smashwords, or you can purchase through my website (hkvessels.com). Happy reading!
Reviews for The Awakening
A very quick romance between the two, but a very satisfying one. ;)

Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
Thank you! Well, technically... yes. Sounds like I should think on it, though! I do have a published novel if you are interested! hkvessels.com

i see great drama and mystery ahead, in this story!!!
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
You are too right! :-)
i feel for draco.. poor hermione never knew that ron ddin't love her!! that a sad news to heard, from a love one!!
Wonderfully written story. I enjoyed the many twists. However, just one question. Did anyone address why Shacklebot left Mil destitute and alone? Thanks
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
Great question! Her parents were sent to Azkaban, and since she was technically an adult, she was on her own. Her definition of destitute is also skewed since she was super wealthy. Thanks for the compliment!
Poor Ron. Someone needs to take him aside and spell it out in words of one syllable. Slowly. :D
Nooooo! It's not finished. Please tell me it's not finished. The main page says it's not finished, so it's not finished. Right? RIGHT? *grin* By the way, good chapter and story. Definitely going onto my favorites CD although I'm not a really big fan of Dramione. ^_^
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
That is a huge compliment. Thank you so much!
I can imagine Narcissa's reaction! :)
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
I hear this low, calm voice primly sighing, "Oh, Draco..." Disappointment dripping, she still concedes. After all, Hermione did help save her, and it would appear rather crass to shun her. Lol.
Ooooh, Good Chapter! Millicent got what was coming to her; Draco is alive (thanks to Harry); Narcissa is coming to grips with Draco and Hermione's relationship; and Ron is going to continue to be the prat we all know and love. Where's the next chapter? *crosses arms and taps toes* Well? ^_^
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
Crosses arms and taps toes--love it! It's being approved and should show up soon!
Aha, Draco's beginning to realise he'd been wearing green tinted spectacles for years. :)
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
Lol! I should use that line sometime!
LOL. If they keep this up they'll have to work out a roster for who's the boss, or they'll wear themselves out! ;)
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
Who do you think would win? hahahaha
It could be a good opportunity for both Ron and Mr Parkinson, if they let it. :)
I hate you. Please don't... stop! ;)
Hmm, a bit of thawing happening now. :)
Self-sacrifice? Draco? When did he become so noble and unselfish? Of course, this is the Wizarding World where self-sacrifice is rewarded in some form or another now, isn't it? ^_^
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
I know it's a nasty cliffhanger--more coming quickly!
I sure didn't expect that one! But that's gotta be against the rules right? Some old magic that will render the spell ineffective if it's done in self sacrifice?
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
Now there's an idea! Wish I'd thought of that!
He's caught her interest now. She's just the witch he needs to help him solve this mystery. :)
oh dear, I hope he didn't really mean it and just gets a nosebleed. I'm sure Hermione can think of a better plan.
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
You just made me laugh out loud in my chair. I love that response. My last two chapters have been submitted and should be ready soon!
He's still interested... ;)
Draco seems reluctantly interested in Hermione's plight. Will he ask her to help him with his? :)
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
How clever you are!
Love the last line. ;)
Eww, nasty creatures. :0
Eek! Draco, what have you done? :0
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
I know, I know... :-(
You could call it 'Millie and her Faeries' so it sounded sweet and innocent and sucked 'em all in! :)
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
Hahaha! Millie is such a girly name--perfect for a faerie-loving sweetie, right?
Spinach-Eyed Savior! ROFL :)
Response from Lucas (Author of The Awakening)
Honestly, I laughed out loud when I saw this review. I loved that line, too!
