~*~**~*~*~
Later that night, after the officials came to take away Hermione’s body, and after everyone had left him alone after he yelled at them to, Severus sat in what was to be Their Couch, drinking straight out of his bottle of Firewhisky. He had not changed from his wedding attire yet, but his hair was free, and he was gazing into the fire, trying not to think.
After some time, he finished the bottle of Firewhisky. Staring at the bottle and thinking about his lost bride, he staggered slowly to his feet. He somehow managed to climb the stairs without breaking anything the two times he fell. Finally, he reached what he had come to think of as Their Room. On the bed stand was still the bottle of poisoned wine, somehow forgotten. Slowly, he made his way to the bed and carefully sat down on the edge. He took the bottle in his hands. It was still more than half full.
“I’m sorry, Hermione.” He hiccupped on a sob, too spent and too drunk to do more than that. He lifted the bottle to his lips and drank as much as he could, as quickly as he could. Wine poured out the sides of his mouth, spilling over his chin and onto his chest. He would suffer has she had and then join her in death. The bottle empty, he threw it onto the floor where it broke into pieces.
He sat there, on the edge of his bed, staring at the soft golden walls, the color she had picked out, until his vision started to fog. Without resistance, he fell to the floor atop the broken pieces of glass and started coughing as blood started to come from his lungs. He squeezed his eyes close and clawed at his chest for what felt like eternity, desperate for air. Then he stilled and suffered no more.
Laughter echoed through the house, one light and airy, the other smooth and deep. Hermione ran from the living room up the stairs to the bedroom with Severus chasing her the whole way. He tackled her to the bed and kissed her softly. Looking into each other’s eyes, they smiled.

You know, I really thought you'd find a way to save her. Now I'm terribly afraid to have rightly guessed what he's going to do next.
Response from shatteredrose (Author of The Lady and Her Knight)
I was thinking about taking it that way, but the song that inspired me to write this story for them didn't quite end that way. I hope you aren't terribly disappointed.
Response from snitchette (Reviewer)
Terribly sad is more like it. And some blood (Ron's preferably) to avange them. Severus can even kill him (painfully of course) before...
Hi there,
I have a question about Ron's plan.
If Ron gave her the wine why would she blame Severus
when she got sick from it ?
Pansycat
I love how you've written the despair in your story!
oh damn update update!!
I knew that! Bad author to make such evil cliffie! Is there hope for her or should I fetch a box of tissue ?
Response from shatteredrose (Author of The Lady and Her Knight)
If you've heard the song, you might want to grab a box of tissues. However, I do promise a bittersweet happy ending.
Why am I under the impression that they really shouldn't try that wine?
Response from shatteredrose (Author of The Lady and Her Knight)
Probably because they shouldn't try it. :D
Can Ron really not make a fool of himself? I doubt it.
That's such a nice scene. But I fear given the summary that, soon, things are not going to be so sweet.
Dang.
Oh this is so tragic! I hope Severus gets revenge on Ron.
Arrrggghhhh! Ron's gift of wine has poisoned Hermione on her wedding night. I guess he figured that if he couldn't have her, no one would have her.I hope Severus can figure out what was done and an can find some way to make Hermione well again. I'm so afraid that she will die if something can't be done soon. Please update soon!Beth
Response from shatteredrose (Author of The Lady and Her Knight)
I'll be uploading the next two chapters ( I decided to condense them from 4) as soon as my beta sends them back to me. Then it is up to the admins with how quickly it gets posted. Hopefully it won't be too long though!
What a beautiful wedding they had. I've always thought the Black Lake would have made a lovely site for getting married. I'm happy that their friends seemed so happy for the newly weds, but Ron's gift of the elf wine is scaring me a little... well, a lot. I've gotta to catch the next chapter to see what happens.Beth
Response from shatteredrose (Author of The Lady and Her Knight)
I must agree with the Black Lake being a great spot to get married. I wish it existed (with the giant squid) so that I could marry there myself!
What an idiot. Stupid, stupid boy. I'm surprised that Severus was able to control himself.
As sad as this ending is, it is very well done when I consider the song that inspired you to write it. Well done!
Beth
Stupid Ron! I hope he rots in Azkaban. Or gets the Dementor's kiss.
Beth
This was really sad but a fitting end to such a tragic story.
Somehow, I knew this would end like that. I wouldn't have want any other end but it's still very sad.
Response from shatteredrose (Author of The Lady and Her Knight)
Yes, but I did toss in a bit of happiness with them together in the end, even if they are dead. I promise that my next story is actually going to have a happy ending. Maybe that'll make up for killing them off in this story.
A beautiful, if heartwrenching tale. Nicely done. I suppose Ron living with himself for the rest of his life is punishment enough? Probably not, but one can hope.
Well she's marked Ron as her brother, but that doesn't necessarily mean owt.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Strange way to propose.I'm hoping the story's not going to move in parallel to the song!
Response from shatteredrose (Author of The Lady and Her Knight)
Unfortunately that is the goal. I hope its not too upsetting that I chose a bittersweet ending.
Ack - that song has such a sad ending! I am hoping you have an alternate version in mind.
Interesting start. Would like to see more before I develop any real opinion. ^_^
Response from shatteredrose (Author of The Lady and Her Knight)
Well the next two chapters are in queue! Thank you for reviewing.
