Due to the often controversial nature of my fics, I've decided I will no longer be posting here (this not NOT include my WIPs--Princes in Exile and Caged Bird Sings will continue to be updated here. This is regarding only my oneshots and future long fics). You can find all my stories at my Livejournal, under the name literaryspell. None of the fics are, as yet, friendslocked, so you can read at your leisure, and friend me, or not, as you like. :D Be sure to check out my master list, which is the first post on my LJ page. Thank you!
If anyone would prefer to send comments to me personally, or would just like to talk plot or make suggestions, please contact me at literaryspell@live.com. I'm happy to hear from anyone!

HUH! Can't talk...can't form words right now....
WHEW!!! Hot! Rationally, I can see that he wanted to protect her from what else could have happened as a captive of the DEs, but he as so much as came out and told her he had a 'thing' for her for a while.
I guess when it comes right down to it, it doesn't matter HOW two people come together, just that they DO.

Finally Severus tells Hermione that he wants her. I'm glad to see that he already had feelings for her; he wouldn't have asked for her if he didn't.
This way, her captor was Professor Snape… and maybe, some day, Severus would let her go.
Wow, wow, and wow. Oh, did I say that before? Sorry, there's nothing more to be said!
Wow, wow, and wow. I don't know if I am speechless (unlikely) or just anxious to move on...
This is such an amzing story. I loved this chapter. It was quite astep for him to care enough to take her out for a few hours.
I'm loving this story. You have really caught their co-dependency well. I'm interested to see what will happen when real life outside the prison walls intervenes.
Such a wonderfully moving chapter. My hear aches for Hermione and Severus, I hope that the solace they are finding in each other, forced circumstances aside, can extend beyond the madness they are embroiled in.
Achingly beautiful... and HAWT!!
This is a very powerful chapter of an amzing story. I found it elsehwre ad have read it all but will continue to enjoy each chapter as it comes again. You are an amazing writer.

Thank you so much. :D I'm so glad you're enjoying it!
My heart was breaking for them both by the end. Such an emotional rollercoaster! I hope Hermione didn't ruin something that Harry was working toward. But I can't imagine how it would matter if no one found out. But I guess there's always a chance that Voldemort could view the incident in Snape's memories.Such a complex story. I had no idea that Stockholm syndrome could have such an effect on the captive.

*mysterious grin* Not saying about about the first part of your comment, but you're on the right path. :D
The whole existential thing kind of blows the mind, but how else could she feel? It is easy to sit here and wonder how she can crave his company and his touch so desperately, but he really is her whole world. She is defined entirely by him, but he is actually hardly defined himself, at least from our point of view. They are truly frustrating. He has to be on Dumbledore's team, even though he admitted to having a back up plan should things go awry. So why can't he just sit her down and tell it to her straight. Yes, he probably has to keep her in a cage, but is anyone ever going to be allowed to see her? If not, why not just lock the basement door in the same manner as the cage. At least she wouldn't feel so confined. Maybe Voldemort knows she is there and he wants to see memories. They could easily stage some. If Snape is afraid that her knowing too much would give them away, she has plenty of free time in which she could be learning and practicing occlumency. It just seems like this all could have been handled better. She is smart enough and trustworthy so that he could have worked with her, as two mature adults rather than warden and prisoner.Unless he likes the power he has over her. I hope that is not the case because that particular Snape disturbes me. He seems to be conflicted when he deals with her, but in what way? Good vs evil? Right vs wrong? Impulse vs control?I'm sort of glad she had her little expenditure of emotion. I think it was much needed and a long time coming. I sort of hoped that when he finally gave in and touched her, that would sort of put an end to the elephant that has been inhabiting the room, but instead, it sort of turned into a whole herd.I will stop thinking out loud before I take up the entire page. I'm quite anxious to know where we go from here. I can remember when I used to look forward to Saturday instead of Tuesday. What have you done to me?!?!
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
He's created this new part of her--in her mind, it's his responsibility to either fix it by freeing her or deal with it by doing what she needs. As for why the cage, why the secrecy... you'll see. Promise. :DBut you're right that he's not innocent. He does enjoy the power, even if he's a little afraid of this new Hermione. Thank you for your great comment! I'm so glad you're enjoying the story, hun. :D
Highly disturbing chapter, and it seems realistic though I'm not really qualified to know.Very nicely done. I'm really enjoying this story.
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
Thank you very much. Yes, it definitely is disturbing. Hermione's mind has taken quite the metaphorical beating.
Wow. This was a very powerful chapter, and I am having difficulty forming any coherent thoughts. This is so frustrating! With Hermione, I can't possibly entirely understand what she is feeling, but she has my total sympathy. She is pushing his buttons, and acting out inappropriately, and then doesn't even try to escape, but I can't fault her for anything. Noone is equipped to deal with her situation.Snape, on the other hand... I'm desperate to be inside his head for just one teensy little chapter because I'm lacking the ability to fit him with an emotion. Should I think he is a monster? Without knowing his motivation, that is an unfair assessment. Should I feel sympathy for him? I think yes, but I'm not completely solid on why. I could go on forever, but me penning a novella will get me no closer to my answers.I do hope we find out what went on upstairs too. Thanks for another wonderful chapter. See you next week! *sighs and counts how many days until Tuesday*
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
I think your comment that no one is equipped to deal with this sort of situation is dead-on. She's just totally overloaded. As for Snape, I know that only getting Hermione's POV can be annoying in that you want to know exactly what's going on, but I like the mystery feel of this that comes with knowing only what she knows.Only one day 'til Tuesday! :D
Response from HBAR (Reviewer)
I am not in the least bit annoyed. I too, actually find the solitary POV to have a great feel to it. It is just bad for me to have too much time in between chapters because I way over analyze and speculate, and that makes my brain hurt. I know, I know, every Tuesday :) I am officially your self proclaimed most impatient fan!
Whoa. Mental illness is taking hold, it seems. A powerful chapter. Makes me really wonder what ending you've got in mind.
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
Yes, her mind is defintely overloaded at this point! As for what I have in mind, well... I hope you like it! :D
wow such power and strength in the feelings there. Very interesting that she doesn not want to leave. I suppose that some sort of sydrome I know nothing about. Goos work.
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
That would be Stockholm Syndrome. :D Thank you so much!
Wow. That was horrific! (And I mean that in a good way). Poor Hermione. Perhaps this will make Snape realise to what extent his captivity has harmed her. Will we see more of his self-loathing, I wonder? Even though I have this deep-seated instinct that Snape is working to defeat Voldemort, and that this claustrophobic atmosphere will inevitably lead to their forming a sexual relationship, I can't help but hope that the story will NOT have a 'happy ending,' by which I mean they form a romantic attachment following this experience. It would be deeply unhealthy for both. But rest assured, I shall read until the end, however bitter that might prove to be.
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
You can definitely email me (literaryspell@live.com) to talk about the ending. I've no problem giving you hints or details if you're concerned. I agree that a relationship would be unhealthy, but I think there is a middle ground.
What a gut wrenching chapter. With a more objective viewpoint, I can understand why she wanted to get out of the cage, but also why she logically assumed that she would not be able to leave the basement. Of course he had put up magical force fields so she could not get through. But if Death Eaters had come down there, she would have been a sitting duck. Was there any place to hide? A cupboard, a closet? Thanks goodness Snape came back alone. He seems to care for her. Any kindness he shows give that away, for he is not a kind person.
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
There was no forcefield--that was Hermione's psychosomatic reaction to being in captivity for so long. The entire fic is a study of Stockholm Syndrome and she's pretty much a classic case at this point. But you're right that she would be totally vulnerably if anything happened to Snape. That is definitely a major concern. Thank you for your thoughtful comments!
Wow, such a powerful chapter! So well written on how she was going into shock at the thought of freedom and with her newfound desire to return to what she now sees as "normal" and safe.Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
Thank you so much! Yes, it's so interesting that what once was freedom is now frightening and what once was chains is not liberating. Her poor, fractured mind.
I can't believe she's given up. Captivity is really getting on her it seems.
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
I don't think she'll ever really give up--but she's definitely run into some serious obstacles.
I guess if one is going to be a double agent, it helps to be an optimist. Didn't work out with the author, though.
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
Ha! So true. :D
It's strange how nice he can be. Is she going to know why she's encaged soon?
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
She learns pretty much as we do, but she knows the basics. As for the full truth, that takes some time to come out. :D
Excellent chapter, I am so curious aboout what this whole thing is all about. Its nice to know that Snape is concerned about her comfort somewhat and her modesty. I like how gentle he was with her. This is an excellent story.
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
Thank you so much! :D I know it's a little harrowing to not have all the information, but it's more fun to learn as she does! (So says the writer who knows the secrets LOL)
I can't imagine how she feels, all caged up all of the time. I'm glad that she is able to appreciate the small gestures that he is making for her. She has every right to be angry with him, but unless he has her there for nefarious purposes, he is probably doing the best that he can for her given the circumstances. Hopefully as time goes on, he will trust her more, and in turn she'll get more perks. I am equally as hopeful that she doesn't do something stupid to abuse his trust. Time will tell, I guess.
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Caged Bird Sings)
It's really hard for her, being caged in such a way. She wants to trust Snape and yet she can't. As for whether she'll abuse his trust--that's an interesting statement. Does he trust her at all? Can it be called abuse, or just... her trying to do what's right for her? Interesting. :D
