Hermione wakes up in a cell, held captive by none other than her former professor, Severus Snape. She’s scared, alone, and confused about her feelings for her unwilling captor. How can she know what is real and what isn’t when he won’t tell her anything?

Due to the often controversial nature of my fics, I've decided I will no longer be posting here (this not NOT include my WIPs--Princes in Exile and Caged Bird Sings will continue to be updated here. This is regarding only my oneshots and future long fics). You can find all my stories at my Livejournal, under the name literaryspell. None of the fics are, as yet, friendslocked, so you can read at your leisure, and friend me, or not, as you like. :D Be sure to check out my master list, which is the first post on my LJ page. Thank you!
If anyone would prefer to send comments to me personally, or would just like to talk plot or make suggestions, please contact me at literaryspell@live.com. I'm happy to hear from anyone!
Reviews for Caged Bird Sings
Wow, fantastically written and handled. So emotionally charged for both of them. They won't be able to simply walk away from all of this even more so now.
Terrible, but necessary. Will he really Obliviate her? It does seem like the best solution.
The way you are describing the development of their relationship is perfect. :)
That was a real picnic! ;)
Oh my! Even knowing that it was faked it was trully horrible to read it with plain details.
I also hope things will get better for him than he thinks after the war.
Trust is a two way street, and now the traffic is flowing both ways. :)
THIS WAS A POWERFUL CHAPTER IN A POWERFUL STORY. Can't say enjoyable but necessary and very well written. Looking forward to more.
What a powerful chapter! I am glad to know that they were both able to see the value in creating a rape scene, and I think it was an equally horrifying experience for both parties. I was very worried when he came back so soon, that one or the other would not be able to cope like they had thought they would. But it turned out as ok as could be expectedI certainly hope that he does not obliviate her. If they are to have any chance at a future relationship, I think it will be imperative to spend some time apart in order to gain some perspective, and figure out where they fit as individuals in the new world. If at that point they still feel they should give it a go, then it is meant to be. If he obliviates her, I think it just creates a hole in each of their lives. As always, I am dreadfully anxious to know what comes next.On a side note, I'm very sorry to see that you will no longer be posting here. I think you are one of the really great authors here, but totally respect your decision, whatever the reason. Except that you are forcing a terribly technologically impaired gal to figure out how to navigate yet another site by sending me to your LJ. For that, you are allowed to feel a bit guilty :)

The rape scene was pretty horrible to write, but they are both strong people. Still, even when you know in your brain that it wasn't real, it's going to be hard to cope.As for Obliviation, I do tend to agree with you. If Snape were to pursue Hermione some time in the future and she didn't have that vital information, I think THAT would be more like a rape--because informed consent is impossible. The reason I stopped crossposting was primarily because it's too time consuming. I haven't been able to respond to reviews as often as I'd like, so I know that in order to keep that managable, I need to post to only one or two places. Also, the content of my fics is often really controversial and I don't like dealing with people acting like they didn't know whey they were getting in to when they opened the fic. On my LJ, I can do proper warnings and feel more protected (I've written quite a bit of chan stuff, too, which I don't post here). If you need help figuring LJ out, I can definitely give tips! It was impossible for me to navigate at first, but it's way easier to keep in touch. :D
very moving - and difficult to write i'm sure.
thanks for the time and effort
To Hermione, the fact that she can't be of help with the search for the Horcruxes is as difficult to bear as the captivity itself. Her ability to analyse her feelings for Snape along with her fluctuating control is fascinating. :)
Captor or protector, that is the question. :)
Snape is in an unenviable situation. No matter which way he acts it will reflect badly on him.I just noticed you won't be posting to this site any more. Sorry to see that. I enjoy your writing even if it is often challenging, or perhaps because it challenges me. I would prefer to read well written work which makes me feel uncomfortable, than read sappy pap.

I'll still be posting Caged Bird Sings and Princes in Exile here, so don't worry about having to find it elsewhere. :D It's just my oneshots. The main reason is because I can't keep up with reviews. But I have so many fics that aren't here anyway that it just makes sense. You can always check out my LJ, the first post there being my masterlist. :D

I'll just have to haul myself out of my luddite mire and follow you there.
THIS WHOLE STORY HAS HAD ME WOUND UP I HOPE THEY KNOW THAT IN ORDER TO STAY SANE THEY NEED TO HELP EACH OTHER, AND GOOD SEX HELPS LOL.
very good thanks
Poor man's not made of stone. He'll give in eventually, and hopefully it won't be a bad thing. :)
So was it a spell that paralysed her, or her own fear? :)
Wow. I'm so happy to see the relationship progressing but at the same time there is this overwhelming sense of sadness. It's beautifully written.
Four down, three to go, but does he know about the scar? :)
Oh my gosh this story is amazing!!! Please post the next chapter soon!!
Yes, ITA with everything Gers has said! So believable! You are SUCH a gifted writer with this kind of Psychological drama!
That was tough to read. Heartwarming in a way, but difficult just the same.
I'm glad she finally talked him into sitting beside her. she truly is starved for human contact. Just putting her head on his shoulder must be a huge relief.
OMG! I can't believe he let her sit so close, put her head on his shoulder and kiss him. Even kissed her back. Wow! I'm in heaven
This is one of those special stories where I'm holding my breath and willing the chapter to go on and on and on and on. The scroll button is both enemy and friend. I may have been wrong in my earlier assumption about their situation as I thought he may have been doing a "Flowers in the Attic" and keeping her captive even after the final battle has been won (or lost!) but that wouldn't appear to be the case. Providing he is telling the truth of course! Very, very nicely done. Best wishes, Love Ali xxxxx.
Do I have to say, "I love this chapter!" everytime, or by now is it just implied? I'm glad we finally got some insight into how Hermione got where she is, and what Harry knows. It is probably such a relief to just know anything that is happening outside of her bars.
I really liked the entire exchange that took place between them in the cage. You kind of forget how much Snape has to endure when you are getting it all from Hermione's POV. He isn't perfect, but her really is a good man. He blows her off when she mentions it, but hopefully he knows it to be true.
I do hope that there really is something between them, and he isn't just baiting her all of this time to get new material for the Dark Lord. It would be unrealistic to think that if the war ended tomorrow, they would skip off happily into the sunset together, but there is a connection there. Why shouldn't they take comfort in each other, in what ever way they choose? And when the dust settles, if they do persue a relationship, it will be a work in progress for some time. But the fact that he has done all of this with good intentions, albeit selfish ones, means to me that their chances for a healthy relationship are not out of the question.
I am feeling very hopeful about the situation as a whole. Don't wreck that ;)
This is such an amzing story, I'm very uch enjoying re- reading each chapter as it comes. Severus is sooo real here. Looking forward to more.
