Fantastic start, can't wait to read more.

Thank you very much! I hope you enjoy the story.
Yay! I am pleased the admins let you bulk post. It's a treat to be able to read the chapters in a block :)
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Yes, hopefully posting the completed story will be much quicker. The story is told in volumes, anyway, so hopefully it will work well. Thanks for leaving a note
It's so nice getting to read this all over again! Dumbledore is very much in character here. And the touches with Fawkes are lovely.
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Hehe. Dumbledore and Fawkes: two of my most favourite Harry Potter characters! You're reading my story all over again? Wow. I'm flattered!
I don't usually read Snape fics that don't pair him up with Hermione, even though I have written one myself, but this one called out to me for some reason. I'm relieved that he found a friend in Fawkes. The bird would not have simply flown off to live in the wild, he would have attached himself to someone else. Snape (not Harry) is the logical choice, IMO. Dumbledore owed him that much, and so much more. I'm sure he would not be able to order the bird to do so, but Fawkes would have willingly gone to someone worthy at Dumbledore's request.I anxiously await your next chapter.

, and I'm glad my story caught your attention. I was delighted to include Fawkes in my story, as I was sad to see him leave at the end of the HBP. I too believe Dumbledore owed much more to Snape, and my story attempts to remedy that imbalance. The next chapter is in the queue, and all seventy chapters will be posted, as time and fate allow. I hope to hear from you again!
I am so pleased you decided to post here, it gives me a chance to read and enjoy this story all over again! I hope many others will find it and enjoy it as much as I did. Where did you find that beautiful picture, by the way? It reminds me so much of one of my own stories, called "Expiation."

Hi
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
! Thanks for reviewing again on TPP. I've now included a link underneath the fanart - it really is a beautiful picture, isn't it?
Lovely recollections of Lily and him; so sad as it occurs to me that he's probably used his/their memories one too many times to soothe/relax himself into sleep, poor man. Along with all the chapters, really enjoyed Contessa and Robert Selwyn scene, and her Ravenclaw sense of just fairness for the boy. Poor Contessa - what a faux pas - her idea! the wound is raw and open as ever.
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Such is the power of his feelings for Lily; his love for her is kept alive by the healing balm of her memory. Meanwhile, Contessa tries to find some kind of fulfilment, blissfully oblivious to Severus's unspoken needs.
The tension of Severus' repressed emotions and insecurities with Contessa's discomfort of her emotions regarding him and their situation is powerfully mounting/growing; the depictions of his repressed nature and inability to allow himself even the idea of another possibility/aspect of himself to be experienced with Contessa is so pronounced. The looming atmosphere and tension of the goings on in the Castle are building; poor Neville.
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
I'm glad you're experiencing the emotional side of the story and the complexity of both characters' feelings at this point. There are many things left unsaid between them, and so much self-denial. Thanks for reviewing.
Again, a wonderfully filled interim of description and details from the Malfoy Mansion to the eve of them returning to Hogwarts; moreover, the layering on of intimacy between Severus and Contessa.
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
They've made some progress, now it's time to see what happens when they are apart from each other.
So much wonderful work - the Tiger's Eye rings, taking care of baby Fawkes, Dumbledore being Dumbledore, and of course, the wonderful 'new memory' to keep Voldy happy should he come a plundering Contessa's mind, and that haunting element of Severus' self-denial and rigid discipline when regarding Contessa, so effective, so sad... There seems to be a foreboding attached with 'tomorrow' - reading on to find out what that busy day will bring!
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
I'm glad you noticed Severus' self-denial and rigid discipline; my heart ached for him when he shut down his emotions so quickly. It's almost habit for him. Thanks again for reviewing!
The old meddler--we can already assume that neither of them is ready to admit failing for lack of intelligence of all things. You style is captivating. While reading I feel I'm standing next to them in Tess's living room. As this is my second read, I admire several nicely constructed details that I won't list here to not be a spoilsport for others!
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
When I began this story over four years ago, I knew very little about the art of writing, so it's good to know I managed to sow the seeds of the story so effectively from the beginning. I'm touched that you're reading again, it's a real compliment. Thank you!

You've packed masses of information into such a smooth narration here! The Ravenclaw Revolutionary being just one of them, although an essential one.
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Thanks! Exposition is always a difficult thing to get right. Hope you enjoy this story second time around

You really have my attention. I can't wait to learn about the Ravenclaw Revolutionary.
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Thank you. Back when I wrote this story, I didn't know much about writing and went with my instinct. Good to know I caught your attention early on. Thanks!
Sad and beautiful beginning, I am glad Fawkes was sent to Severus.
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Fawkes was one of my favourite characters, so I was glad to send him to Severus in his hour of need. Thanks for reviewing.
So much hope. Now, to beat that damned snake. :)
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
The first real glimmer of hope for both of them. Beating the snake would be a mean feat...
Perhaps no-one but the Carrows will give detention?
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Contessa is in for something much worse than detention!
Whew. As tough as it was to face, he needed to do it. :)
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
I agree. My heart ached for him when I wrote this section.
Contessa getting one over him was priceless! :)
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Why, thank you! Snape's a tough one to fool; it was a challenge for me to write.
Oops. Not very sensitive there, was she? :)
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Her sensitivity was overridden by other feelings in the Headmaster's office. I think she recovered admirably with the parkin cake, though ;)
Communication is not Severus's strong point, is it? :)
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Communication and emotional intelligence are two skills which Severus lacks. Thanks for reviewing!
They have more in common than they thought. :)
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Yes, they figured it out in the end.
And so the plot thickens. What is this new task she has lined up? :)
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Could it involve a certain castle in the Scottish Highlands, I wonder?
He can clean, and he can cook. That's a good start for a housemate. :)
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
He can clean... when he wants to! Hehe.
What is it with Dumbledore and Unbreakable Vows? He should have been a Slytherin the way he manipulates people! :0
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Someone once said: "There's a little bit of Slytherin in everyone."
A Ravenclaw. Interesting stuff! :)
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
We never saw enough of Ravenclaw House in canon, but fanfiction remedied that long ago!
Insightful start. Love the pic. :)
Response from Agnus Castus (Author of The Unconditional Vow)
Thank you. And yes, the pic is a real beauty.
