Try to look at the situation from Severus' perspective.
After the events of the trip, he probably felt like them coming together was absolutely inevitable.
First the girl practically throws herself at him at every opportunity, tempting him with her defiant behaviour and provocatively stressing the word "Muggle"; then her house turns out to be the house; finally she walks on him when he's practically naked, tortures him with close proximity and then has the temerity to be checking him out!
It's like fate has been forcing his hand from the very beginning, and only his stubborn refusal to give in prevented them from being betrothed already.
So now, when he finally, finally gave in, there's no reason things shouldn't just neatly click into place, right?
Poor Severus... hell of a reality check, coming right at ya!

I must say, I'm feeling awfully sorry for Hermione so far.  The life she's having is the pits!  If this former young Severus is imaging having a wife like 'Mrs Snape', he's not going at it in a very positive fashion!  The only person being even slightly kind to her so far is Dennis and he has a rather creepy feel to his interest.

Well, I like the promise of frequent updates. I also like the promise of Severus going with Hermione.  Maybe he can fix all this junk that's going on between the two of them. 

Definitely still here--and SO glad to see an update!I feel so sorry for everyone's mixed-up feelings right now.  What a mess the Ministry has made of everything.  It's a bit hard for me to follow and interpret everyone's feelings here. I understand Dennis definitely has a crush on Hermione, and Draco is either looking for an easy lay or 'possible' marriage material (though his conversation with Snape didn't sound like it). But I'm having a bit of trouble understand the root of the tension between Ginny and Hermione--whether it's just Hermione's (in my opinion, unwarranted) officiousness at expressing her opinion of Ginny's and Harry's relationship and all it entails, or whether there's some other subtext there that I'm missing.  And then, of course, there is poor, confused Severus--who wants her, doesn't want to want her, and possibly feels she only ended up ever becoming "Mrs. Snape" because she was either forced into it, by this law, or was in fact (as he suspected) merely a gold-digger.  So he keeps looking for evidence to 'prove' what he's already concluded.Which leads me back to poor Hermione--who is so miserable, and angry, and confused, and (unknowingly) actually clueless as to what's going on (at least with Severus).But I hope she won't be clueless much longer---Hermione in possession of all the facts of a matter is a formidable force.Looking forward to more!

Thank you for this update– it's fantastic!I love the interaction between Hermione and Snape, Hermione and Draco, and Hermione and Dennis.  I'm oping that Dennis gets a photograph, unwittingly of course, of Professor Snape when he's looking at Hermione... wouldn't that be a dead giveaway!  But the thing I'm really looking forward to is their trip to London to visit her parents.  That's going to be delicious!Wonderful story.  I'm glad to see you posting again, and I'm especially grateful since it's the sort of story that is more difficult for you to write.  Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.  Beth

We are still with you on this, and the chapter has been a true treat. The story is lovely and I would like to see it finished, but if it takes a lot of time, that's completely all right. As long as you intend to finish it.

I adore this tale. I wonder if she will ever throw his "Muggle" comment back in his face like she did to Draco? What will his reaction be? At least he would finally understand her hot/cold reactions to him.

Yay, an update - thank you!I think Severus can see what's happening, just doesn't want to process it correctly.  (Like his musings on "his" smile.)  ;)  Hermione knows he likes her, but doesn't want to act on it.  He is a glutton for punishment isn't he by planning to escort her to see her parents?  What on earth is she going to wear as I'm assuming this is going to be a bit of a punishment on him.Looking forward to the next chapter!

Yea, another chapter.  This is getting really interesting.  Draco is well Draco and I like how you have incorporated Dennis into the story line.  Now for our dear misguide (and misunderstood) potions master.  He needs to get over himself and tell the girl how he really feels and stop being so childish.  Oh, wait, that's one of the reasons why we love him so much.  Great chapter.  Can't wait to see what happens in the "muggle" world.
