Excellent update.  Might this be the catalyst for how Hermione and Severus come together?  I don't think she'll be batting her eyes at him anytime soon.  Not after this fiasco.  I can sort of imagine a bewildered Severus Snape reacting to the sudden sadness, or even worse than that - disinterest and possible hostility coming from her direction.  He's been to the future and knows what needs to be done.  He really messed things up, and he doesn't even realize it.  :D

My thoughts are all a'swirl, just like Snape's and Hermione's.  I was surprised to hear Draco speak so cavalierly of Hermione as "new meat."   I can only imagine how much that had to hurt her, especially after hearing Severus tell the young man that he was surprised that he would "stoop so low" as to be interested in a Muggle-born.  While I think Severus was trying to thwart Draco's attraction to the young witch, it certainly would not have come across that way to Hermione.The time Hermione spent with with Severus in the Hogs Head, and the way he treated her (and his obvious dislike for Miss Greengrass) did indicate that he found her company agreeable.  But this fiasco outside the "empty" classroom will have consequences, and I hope that neither of them will remain so aloof that they cannot see the forest for the trees.And you, Mystery Author, have once again driven this reader to heights of anticipation and lows of despair, all in a single chapter.  Good job!Beth

So Snape's jealous of Draco and Hermione has drawn wrong conclusions out of a conversation she has overheard.Oh, the angst resulting from this!Another good chapter, dear mystery author. I can't wait for the next chapter and the big reveal of who you really are.

Confusing doesn't even begin to describe my reaction to this chapter. The back and forth of emotional battles on multiple fronts have my mind reeling.But there is another secret I'd like to share with you. I had to go to the dentist's earlier today and stopped reading just after this sentence:Instead, he leaned all of his body weight to his one elbow braced upon the armrest and cocked an eyebrow in silent question.It turned out to be the hottest posture I have encountered Snape to take. Ever. Including PWPs and the such. The persona of Severus Snape leaning on one elbow and raising an eyebrow gave the whole experience at the dentist's a completely different attitude. The image is ingrained in my mind as the most sensual Snape I have encountered. Thank you for the singular experience,

Ohh, you know I love you right? I thought your first story was dang near perfect but you just went above and beyond with a marriage law story. I am so happy I could dance! This story just reached my all time top ten favorites! I loved the Grimmauld chair scenes and I'm so happy to see Professor Snape back at Hogwarts.
