Severus Snape is dead and not happy about it. Unfortunately, his only link to the living world is a bushy-haired Gryffindor know-it-all.

Reviews for Heartbeat
Definitely different ... I can't wait to see where you take things from here, Great beginning!
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Thank you, I'm glad you liked the first chapter!
This is quite interesting. I don't think I've seen this premise before.
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
I tried to do a different spin on the idea of Severus surviving after DH. Thanks for the review!
That was really cool. Severus is annoyed in death as he was in life. LOL. What's up with Hermione popping in like that. I'll stay tuned to find out!
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
I'm glad you like it so far! The next chapter is 6th in the queue so not too much longer to wait!
Very good start am interested to see where this leads.
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Thank you!
I really enjoyed this, especially the dark element of *what if it goes wrong?* which made it quite tense.
That was fantastic! A lot of effort would have to have gone into this! It was so believable.
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Thank you so much for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed it. =)
Very sweet. You do an excellent ob of writing so as to evoke emotion.
Thank you!
Looking forward to what else you have to write!
:)
Aww, a cute story, though i wish it were longer and followed more into the future with them. I kept wondering if he would be brought back, or if they'd fail after falling for each other, and hermione would eventually kill herself to be with him, like the original owner of the stone had. I'm glad it worked out happily. :)
I'm sorry, but through this chapter i was remembering the stuff from greek mythology, and the odyssey, stuff like "don't let the dead come too close for they will suck the life out of the living" and "if they get the scent of blood they will overwhelm you" and other things, things where the dead become so obsessed with the warmth of life that they forget themselves. I was sure that when snape felt hermione's warm hand he would go nuts and not let her go. oh well.
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
That sounds like an interesting direction that I could have taken the plot in. I don't remember that from Greek mythology but I like the idea of it! To be honest, I wanted to add a bit more drama by putting in a few more chapters that had something like what you suggested, or something similar in the last chapter when she brought him back to life. The last two chapters were written in about two days where I just wanted to wrap up the story because I was already so late with the HG/SS Exchange. I actually considered adding something of that sort when I decided to post this here, but after I reread it once again, I realized that although my story is not perfect, I'm very happy with it as it is.Thanks for reviewing!
Aaww... I love this ending! Thank you for making me happy. I have found myself imagining what their lives would be like in the years to come, so you have definitely left room for an epilogue or sequel should your muse ever decide one needs to be written.Well done!Beth
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Thank you! I'm glad that the ending made you happy. I've also been imagining the future for them and am considering a very short epilogue. I'm not sure if it will ever happen, though. =)
I just now caught up with this - really great story line - thanks for all of your hard work!
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
I'm glad you liked the storyline! Thank you for taking the time to review!
Yay, it worked! You had me nervous there for a moment when Severus mused that he could possibly go into an 'endless' sleep. Not what I was hoping. But it worked! Yay! And they told each other their feelings, too.
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
The endless sleep would have been dreadful. I can picture Hermione working obsessively for the rest of her life to try to reverse that outcome. Thanks for reviewing, I'm glad you liked it!
What a lovely gift for your readers. I love a happy ending. Just the right amount of humor and tenderness.
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Thanks! I'm really glad that you liked it. I love happy endings too.
what a wonderful story! So tender and beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Thank you so much for your reviews; I'm always happy when an author I like reviews my stories. =)
I very much enjoyed your story! I'm a happy ending junkie (real life has enough angst!) so am glad they're together. Hope you don't mess that up in an epilogue . Thanks for your work!
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
I can't stand unhappy endings for the same reason as you. I prefer stories that are happy to stories that are depressingly realistic.I'm still debating about an epilogue. I've read many good stories that would have been much better if the author hadn't tried to wrap everything up neatly in a few pages. I'm not going to mention the obvious example...Rest assured, if I do an epilogue, it will definitely have the two of them together.
Ahh. Such an amazing story. Lovely!
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Thank you! I'm really happy you liked it!
A perfect story in just 5 chapters. Do feel free to write an epilogue though hehe.
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
I'm glad you enjoyed it! The epilogue is a maybe. I have some ideas and might write them down, but then I'll probably spend about a week trying to decide whether I prefer it with or without an epilogue.
Now, to tell everyone... :)
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
=) Thanks for reviewing each chapter-it is much appreciated!
That was lovely, so very glad the potion worked. Is this the death of SnarkySnape and the birth of Well-adjustedSnape?
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
No way! ;) I would imagine he would be a bit more well-adjusted than before his death but still be the snarky man that we know and love. Thanks for reviewing!
So why do I feel so scared? (when everything appears to be so wonderful).Hoping the "other shoe" isn't about to drop---and remember I'm a sucker for happy endings!
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Eep, I just realized that I forgot to mark this as complete. It's changed now! This is the last chapter; I decided to leave it kind of open with lots of potential for the future. This was partially because I ran out of time for the Exchange and partially because I prefer to write shorter fics, rather than the long epics that many authors write. Also, I didn't want to make it overly dramatic or give it an overly perfect ending. Thank you for your review and sorry that it was unclear that this was the end. I'm really tempted to write an epilogue (and I still might) that takes place far in the future, but consider chapter five as the ending for now.
Response from countrymouse (Reviewer)
Whew! Well thank goodness, then! And if voting counts, then consider this a huge vote YES for an epilogue! I've enjoyed your story immensely!
Who would ever guess that a simple black rock could be so powerful? To be sure, the Resurrection Stone was powerful, but I think it is the Witch and the Wizard who are using it that are the truly powerful entities in this equation.I am thrilled that her potions and charms have made it possible for each of them to be in each other's world. Now if his potion works, they can be together in life. Dare I hope? What ever happens, I want them both to be at least contented, if not deliriously happy.I was beside myself when they were able to hold each other, and I really liked it when she kissed his cheek. I wonder how it felt to Severus. Only five days to go before they (and we) will know if their efforts will be successful. I will be sorry for this story to end after the next chapter, but I must tell you what a wonderful, sweet story you have penned. Thank you for sharing it with us.Beth
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Beth,Thank you for your wonderful reviews, I enjoy reading them! You'll see what happens very soon!
Oh, I hope with all my heart that their plan will be successful! It is obvious that they are falling in love with each other. When Severus told her that he hated his existence my heart just broke for him. "I spend everyday waiting for you to call me. All of the people I loved during my lifetime don’t want to spend this life with me.”
How awful to not only have died, but to have nothing to look forward to for eternity! When he lifted his hand to touch her face, I held my breath, hoping that they would at least share the sense of touch. But he turned away and confessed his unhappiness with his life after death. These potions, the one he is brewing to cheat death, and the one Hermione will be brewing to bridge their two worlds, are a long shot... but if any people can pull this off, it is these two. Not only are both very talented, but they have the added incentive of wanting to be together. Severus has already told Hermione that he spends every day looking forward to her visits, and she has realized that she obsessively loves her nightly visits with Severus. I hope this works!
Great chapter!Beth
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Thank you for your lovely review! I agree that it's a long shot, but if anyone can do it, they can!
What an intriguing story. I really like the plot and premis. And my heart was also pounding at the end of this chapter. I just hope that she doesn't do too much damage to her soul to bring him back. Perhaps his renewed life will help her to heal if it does.Great job. I anxiously await your next post.
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Thank you for your review; I'm glad you like it! The next chapter is the last and is in the queue. I didn't get to explore the implications of using dark magic as much as I would have liked to (I was on a deadline and unfortunately the deadline was two weeks BEFORE I even got to the last chapter) but I am considering writing another story that goes into it in a little more detail--possibly related to this one, possibly not. I can imagine it having long term effects on someone who attempts to bring back the dead.
Closer and closer they become! :)
Response from Electryone (Author of Heartbeat)
Yes, they're getting very close. Perhaps close in a I'm-in-love-with-a-dead-man way is unhealthy, but I can understand Hermione's obsession completely. =P
