This story is certainly well-plotted on every level, but I confess it's the little moments of humanity that continue to captivate me most - here, it's Lucius splashing the rain at Hermione.Well done - can't wait to read more :)

I really like the deft way you perceive the uncertainties in this chapter - from this: He’s going to tell me he’ll go to live with Snape... to curiosity. Such a natural progression for emotions that are very fleeting - we've all felt them (well, okay, maybe not these specific ones) but don't remember to remember them. Nicely done.

Once again you have it spot on:...in a part of the world where the majority of the population was dark haired. He’d never denied loving the attention his hair or impeccable appearance garnered wherever he went.--- Such an intricate description of how to get to Severus' home, followed by the actual reality of it opening up (and its paths to so much more, so much deeper) - nice echo of content with structure there... I love when that happens! *reads on

This part, right here: Lucius let out a dry laugh. “Can you really, love? I don’t know if you can.” He sounded wistful. “When I returned, I had no idea whether I’d find Cissy and Draco still alive.It's so human, so gracefully done. You can just feel everything he feels, how complicated, how subtle. Brava.And Hermione's planning around potential hurricanes is just delightful. Reading on...

I love the tiny laws that chip away freedom - well, no, actually, I hate them, but *points to self* Still slightly bereft of speech here because of all of that lovely Lucius' hair stuff. Okay. Think, Ari....I love the way you capture the inanity of the insidiousness of the erosion of freedom.Okay, can I go back to thinking about Lucius' hair some more?But before I do... Neat, We get to meet Lola and Karl! But why didn't an earthquake make the news? And can Hermione's secretary be trusted, or will she give the message to the Wilsons? Am I looking for intrigue where there is none? Was it their Magick working to give Hermione a day off? Or was that power outage some sort of Wilson power-play?
