I'm a 26-year-old Accounts Payable manager for a construction company. Basically, I'm paid to write checks and intimidate the menfolk around here. I live with my boyfriend and our dog. I wasn't sucked into the HP fandom until just after the release of HBP. So, I'm a newbie compared to most of the fans out there. I've written in several other fandoms (under different pennames) - Anita Blake, Buffy, X-Files, etc.

So much suspense in this chapter -- and you definitely know how to make a dramatic exit. Things seem really set up for a lot of action in the next chapter -- looking forward to it.

No, no... I wasn't clear on that bit. She told them all about her illness, but nothing about Snape. That will come later.
I am loving this story. Hermione and Snape's exchanges are great and the writing is spare, which is refreshing in ss/hg fics. however, i do have one suggestion. Ron's decision to drink Hermione's vitamins seems a bit contrived. i can see how it will further the plot, but i think it would be more believable if there had been past scenes where Ron had made reference to the vitamins, pherhaps making fun of Hermione for her "vitamin obsession." right now, the last scene of the chapter seems a bit sudden and rushed.

Glad you're enjoying the fic. Sorry you felt the last bit was rushed. That may have been because it was a bit. I was in the grips of another fandom when I was finishing this fic up. I felt like I needed to get it out fast or I wouldn't get it out at all. At any rate, if I go through and do a revision (which I very well may in the future), I'll be sure to correct that.

Poor Snape is so gutted by Hermione's illness.
How is he going to get to see Hermione if Ron and Harry start hovering around her all the time?

Thank you! Severus will see Hermione the day after the incident with Ron. She'll go visit him at the cafe they've been meeting at. (And they'll eventually end up in his bed that night.)
What can be said for Ron taking Hermione's "vitamins" before a hot date? What a terrible lesson in learning not to lie.

Why can't Ron stay out of stuff? No one should take a unidentified medication. I know she said it was vitamins, but they should know for themselves what it is before eating it. *men, shakes head* Great chapter. Well worth the wait.

I'm assuming that if the Ministry is not looking for his wand to be used, then its use will slip by unnoticed to them.

I promise a happy ending. As long as we all ignore JKR's epilogue, it will be sappy and sweet and everyone will be giddy with happiness. I even manage to get Snape to tell Hermione he loves her.
I'm always happy whenever I see you posting a new story, and that this one is DH compliant has me grinning like a loon. :) A fabulous beginning - I love how Hermione already feels a connection even though she "knows" he's dead. I look forward to the next chapter!

Her sullen (slightly depressed attitude) also stems from something that I'm going to hint at in the next chapter. Hopefully, it will make her emotional state a bit more believeable. Anyway, I'm glad you're excited about reading the fic. When I start WIPs, I title the file with the date that I began the fic. This fic was started the day after the release of DH. That was how eager I was to bring Snape back. Damn JKR and Voldemort's dumb snake.
Great start! I'm looking forward to the next chapter, and to finding out how Snape made it out of the Shack alive. I loved the way Hermione's been feeling about Snape after his apparent death - it feels very believable to me.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked Hermione's response and her thoughts about Snape. Hopefully, it will seem even more believable after you learn a bit about what she's been going through the past five years. I'll hint about that in the next chapter.

Oh, I'm glad you mentioned the Ron/Hermione thing! I need to put a little note in my fic that I'm totally ignoring the epilogue. Because I hate the epilogue. It's evil!Snape will explain how he came to be alive and living in solitude as a Muggle.
