Another fabulous chapter.  I love how Hermione handled herself during the questioning, especially that of Umbridge.

Severus has been acquitted -- WOOHOO!  It will be very interesting to see how he responds to Hermione's little revelation, especially since it was somewhat mixed to say the least.  She may be attracted to him and feel sympathy for him, but she's also made it clear that she doesn't much like him as a person -- and unfortunately, that isn't favorable for a long-term relationship.  That's assuming, of course, that a relationship is still possible for Hermione and Severus.  The attraction might be mutual, but Severus doesn't strike me as the type of man who will immediately leap into Hermione's arms simply because he's learned that she's attracted to him -- no Slytherin male, let alone the suspicious Potions Master, would let the object of his affections know that he could be had that easily, even if he'd lost his heart to her long ago.  I wish that I could be more optimistic of Hermione's chances, but I think she still has a battle royal ahead of her if she wants to be with Severus.

Yippy!  Uhm, I mean, that turned out okay even with her "less-than-objectiveness."  Will they still sentence him for those other things????

Given the unfairness of Harry's trial in book five, I'm not that surprised that totaly irrelevant questions about Hermione's feelings have been allowed by the Wizengamot. Hermione has made very well, IMO.

This is powerful stuff.  So rarely in this fandom does Hermione get disgusted/revolted/emotional about Snape's past - and she should be revolted, not just accepting and forgiving!  I'm looking forward to reading where you take this.

Contrary to other reviewers, I see why she might choose to keep this pre-trial approach in Azkaban as neutral as possible. Otherwise her report could be later rendered invalid.

Also, as she knows well, he is not the type to trust easily. A more emotional attempt to reach him would have left her open to rejection.

The only question is whether the visual clues (glasses, dress, new found maturity) would be enough incentive for him to want to help himself at the trial and trust her later. Then again he is a tough character and he has been portrayed as such.

We will see.

After this hormonal immature totally idiotic behavior, she deserves to have Ron, not Snape in her bed and life. I would have expected her to reproach herself for not thinking in advance and bringing him some food and healing potions, not to add to his misery. Glasses and heals, indeed. A proper Lavender.
Well, poor Severus. I do hope he does not really care for her, and if he does, well, it is not such a big deal with everything that he is facing. Craving for a clever little witch who is no better than any other dunderhead when it really matters fits nicely into all the wrong choices he made so far.
