So Dilly was on the verge of punishing herself for having to say anything about Winky.Hmmm.I can't think of anything better than a mystery to keep Hermione investigating.(I'm glad your perception of elves shows them with intelligence, capability, and a culture of their own - they are rather the ultimate minority group)

Thanks. I had help from the Headmistress, plus I had to re-read all the scenes in which he appears in the first book. Actually JKR doesn't seem to be very consistent either (thank goodness).

I hope that there'll be a few! I'm just about to embark on a laptopless holiday so this story should advance more quickly (the logic being that I can't spend all my time reading fanfiction - I write in longhand anyway).

Thanks. There are so many fascinating hints throughout the books - the ability to Apparate inside Hogwarts not the least intriguing.

Good chapter. I really laughed at the bit about Hagrid's smelly coat - very realistic.
