Nominated for three New Library Awards!
Prompted in part by a fleeting, foolish crush the summer after her fourth year, Hermione assists the Order in an experimental charm meant to protect Severus Snape as he resumes his role as double agent. Six years after the war's end, it appears the charm has a few unexpected consequences... even though Snape's long dead.

Woman of mystery. The stories I write are the most interesting things about me.
Reviews for The Properties of Silver
Oh my god! I was rereading, and decided to take a look on the last reviews... and couldn't find my own! I forgot to leave one the last time I read, I'm so sorry! It was a great chapter, and I bet it was a difficult one to write, because there's so much in it. I laughed, got sad, felt elated and amazed while reading. Really amazing. I am eagerly waiting for the next. Ah, and I love the chapter's titles, so funny!
Loved the story! good characterisations too.Must be some card game! Strip poker by any chance?I love the reference to Queanbeyan! I used to live there, plus Canberrra and Bungendore. Have you heard of the following local legends which you might like to/be able to use for your story: ie.Min Min lights near Lake George and the strange sudden volume changes in the lake? There are urban myths that the lake is connected to other lakes in Peru or South Africa." Cheers.

Thanks! I didn't know that about Queanbeyan. I picked it because I understand its the fastest-growing city in Australia, so two new Muggle dentists would go un-noticed.

"Silence returned briefly to the library as all four contemplated a tap-dancing Snape." ROFLMAO!!!Oh, I can't wait for more! What a wicked cliffie, Naked!Severus and all! *must stop drooling on keyboard*Eagerly waiting the next part.

One can never have too many tap dancing Snapes. And as for naked Snapes...well, those are nice, too.

What a fantastic story! I count myself fortunate to have come across it amongst others that don't show a tenth of the crafting and skill that yours does.Naturally, I am eager for more!

I hear and obey. *Scurries off to write.*
"Hermione and Severus are, respectively, of age and back from the dead." <-- *back from dead SQUEE!*

Glad you like! I've been reprimanded for giving too much away in the author's notes, but figure you all deserve a bit of hope post DH (I know I certianly do).
I like Hermione's annual school lessons. Awkward, embarrassed Dumbledore is always a hoot.

Thanks so much. Both these aspects were very much fun to write.
Hm, what a different life you have planned for Ron and Hermione... though I hope she finds a way to be happy with Severus soon!
Response from madqueenmab (Author of The Properties of Silver)
There'll be a few bumps along the way, of course, but yes, I am working to a happy SS/HG ending. Thanks for the review.
"There's evil in this world, sir. You've got to fight that evil with all you have, or all you have is nothing." That is so perfectly true. I want to embroider it on a sampler. This is such an original and well crafted story, I can't wait for more. I reviewed the first chapter on Ashwinder. Thank you for sharing this!
Response from madqueenmab (Author of The Properties of Silver)
Thank you! I thought that was a nice distillation of the good guy's attitudes. Also, I'm impressed with your embroidery skills--I'm the least crafty creature on the planet!
Hmmm her going of with Ron.........My prediction is her fiance will not br happy.
Response from madqueenmab (Author of The Properties of Silver)
I can personally gaurentee that we haven't seen the last of her fiance...Thanks for the review!
Oh, most excellent! I loved "That Language He Has Never Spoken" at Ashwinder, and I'm thrilled that you've written what promises to be yet another marvelous story!
My sincere thanks as well for writing a kind and decent Ron; I know that many of us here and at Ashwinder would prefer that Severus be with Hermione, and that, I think, prompts many to write Ron as a little brat in order to 'excuse' Hermione when she chooses Severus. I prefer a Severus/Hermione 'ship to a Ron/Hermione relationship myself. But does that mean that Ron has to be a wanker in every story? I like your Ron very much. Thanks for writing!

Glad you're enjoying! It's good to "see" you over here too. I'm coming late to the petulant poetess party, but will actually be bringing "That Language He Has Never Spoken" over here as well.
This is shaping up to be a most excellent story. I'm very impressed. You got me to like your Hermione and Ron at the end there, and that's practically impossible. Well done! I am eagerly awaiting more.
Response from madqueenmab (Author of The Properties of Silver)
Thank you! I actully do like Hermione/Ron... just not as much as, shall we say, other options.Glad to have you along for the ride. New chapter went off to my fabulous betas today, so it should be up sometime early next week.
Would it be possible that you might be irrevocably gone from this world? Or is it just a very long hiatus that nevertheless can end one day?
Would you let me know?
