Albus and Minerva take a holiday before the onset of the school year. Set in late August 1957. A restful retreat of a story, romantic and lemony. Take a little holiday! Part of the Resolving a Misunderstanding universe, but it's not necessary to be familiar with that story to enjoy this one. Not DH-compliant.

Reviews for A Holiday with the Headmaster
*snip*
“I don’t know as I have a usual breakfast,” Minerva said. “I will be interested to see what she decides to bring.”A few minutes later, the two sat down to an enormous breakfast. Apparently, Blampa had interpreted the instructions to mean, “bring anything you’ve ever served her for breakfast.” There was porridge, eggs, both boiled and fried, toast, scones, apricot preserves and lemon curd, fruit, haggis, potato cakes with butter, and grilled tomatoes and mushrooms – and, of course, a large pot of tea. Minerva chose fried eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, haggis, and toast. Albus muttered something about bacon, and Minerva called Blampa and asked that she bring bacon for the Headmaster.“I should have asked for fried bread, too,” Albus said after the cheerful house-elf delivered the bacon, taking a piece of toast, instead.
*snip*
I laughed so hard at this bit ... first at Blampa bringing anything and everything ever served to Minerva for Breakfast, but then again at Albus wanting bacon (as a bacon lover myself, all I can say is BACON BACON BACON! ) and then Albus mumbling he should have mentioned fried bread too - as if the feast they had wasn't enough because someone forgot the sprig of parsley!
HAW! I still have tears in my eyes for laughing so hard ...
OH the morning wake-up was ... um .... mmmmmmm.
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Yeah, you'd think he'd feel spoiled for choice! lol! Dumbledore does like his traditional fry-up for breakfast.Glad you liked the way they greeted the morning! ;-)
*and she froze her you know what off when she dashed out into the water*
Mmmm, sex on the beach without sand in your crack ... no idea how they managed that ... I never have been able to.
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Magic, of course!
I think somewhere, there's a mention if sand ...
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
Oh but ... when you're actually ON the beach and trying to get ... yeah ... soon its not just a mention of sand, its an entire world of sand ... but magic, now that I could see ... thankfully I'm long past my nookie on the beach days.
I'm still trying to imagine what Scotland beach water might feel like, but I imagine its terribly cold.
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Extremely cold. And they're in the Hebrides at the moment. Sometimes the water gets warmish. Emphasis on the "ish." But as Minerva found out, the water off of Albus's little island is very cold!
*smiles* Home again, home again! Awwwwww, such a wonderful holiday for them, enjoyed reading it through the second time... hopefully next time they go off on holiday, Minerva can spoil Albus more!
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
As Minerva says, it's awfully hard to spoil Albus when he's so busy spoiling her! But I am sure that she can find a time and a means to do so! ;-)Thanks for your reviews! I'm glad you enjoyed your second reading of it following reading RaM!
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
“Never say ‘never,’ my dear. Life is long,” Albus said. “Things can change.”*snip*Oh if I was Minerva and he said that to me right at that moment, I would be so hurt - not only is he saying that she doesn't understand her own feelings, he's putting doubt in her head that HE will change his mind later and not love or desire HER! *smacks Albus*
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
He's trying to guard himself against his own fears, really. Fortunately, although it does frustrate Minerva, she understands that he still has some insecurities. It's a good thing he didn't go on and on about it, though! lol! Then she very well may have smacked him upside the head!
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
And rightly so! *thwacks*
More fantastic yummies!
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Thanks!
Its so odd, just like Brody in Jaws that Albus lives on an island - well, his cottage is on an island, and he hates boats! *grins*As all the chapters in this holiday side tale, this is pure wonderful - relaxing, rewarding, comforting and just so sweet for this pair. I love it!
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Thank you! I'd never have thought of Jaws in this context, but then, you're
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
! So I'd expect you might be a fan of films about boats, fish, sharks, the sea, and all that! Fortunately, Albus has no fear of Apparating across water! That would be tough! lol!
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
Yikes, so true... Apparating across water indeed.... kind of scary.Aye... being a fisherman... or fisherwoman that is, I do tend to pay attention to watery fics and such. Fish are awesome!
Good lord.... lock me up with Albus on an island during a hurricane, PLEASE!
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Maybe Dream Angus will bring you there!Glad you like Albus's idea of fun indoor activities during a storm!
Such a yummy afternoon.... total awesome...
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Thanks!
Reading this through for the second time, but my first time in accordance to RaM - and its even better the second time through... now that I know the hell they both went through to get here... such a wondeful, peaceful, amazing place for these two to enjoy. I just loves it!Only thing that could make it better, though I doubt Albus and Minerva would approve, is if there were also, DRAGONS!
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Dragons sure might be exciting! But I think you're right, Albus and Minerva (Minerva in particular) might not find them as enjoyable as you would! lol!
Albus turned in the darkness, waking when he encountered an unexpected fragrance, like jasmine and rose with a hint of spice. Reaching out, he found another surprise. Soft hair, soft cheek, bare neck, bare shoulder. Slowly, memory seeped into his sleepy brain; he smiled. He touched Minerva’s cheek again, reassuring himself of her reality, her continued presence. Rousing to his touch, she breathed deeply, letting it out with a content sigh, and moved closer to his warmth. Her arm around him, Minerva whispered, “You’re really here.” “For as long as you will have me, my dear.” “Forever,” she replied. “Forever.”*snip*I just love that.... *sniff* Okay, so I'm a bit sentimental right now but ... wow, that is just beautiful.
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
It's okay to be a bit sentimental on occasion! I'm glad you liked it!
Loved this story, am now going to read the next part of RAM which follows the events in this story.Keep up the good work KAHPFAN
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Thank you! I'm very glad you enjoyed it so well! I hope you also enjoy the last few chapters of RaM. TTFN!
A lovely holiday, indeed!Thank you so much for this "extra RaM-piece"! ^^It's always worth to stop by my computer and read your stories! *Marina
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed this. It was either write it up as a quick chapter or two within RaM or make it a separate story, and I thought it stood alone really well, and I'm glad now that I did it this way. I was able to include things that I wouldn't have otherwise, and I don't think RaM itself is hurt by having it separate, and it could be the sort of thing that people who haven't read RaM could still enjoy. Thanks for reviewing! I appreciate your reviews, as always.
What a lovely last chapter! The cat that was rescued by the bird......You promised earlier that there would be a situation where Albus and Minerva were both in their animagus form, and here we go......even if it was a short scene and they were not as tender to each other as when only one of them had transfigured....but imagine Minerva being raped by a wildcat....This island is really paradise and I'd love to have such a place undetected and warded and safe........*dreamy sigh*When it comes to lovemaking Albus seems to have abandoned all his shyness and finally lets his hair down (plot intended). He has become quite a naughty wizard .The warding with the blood ceremony was quite thrilling although I trusted Albus, of course......When they left the island and I realized that there are only three more chapters of RaM I felt some tears in my eyes......I don't want to leave them to themselves......Got somehow addicted.......Anyway......Great great story!!!!
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
The wildcat would have been interested in mating with her if she had been in heat, but as an Animagus, Minerva is a human being, not a cat, so she just would have been warned away from his territory. He likes to keep his eatings to himself and does not want to share with some strange cat, even if it's of a different breed. So no worries, there! But it could have been very unpleasant to have tried to get away from a larger, fiercer, and very wild animal. Albus has become much more comfortable in the bedroom (or wherever!), hasn't he? Still a bit shy in some respects, but once they get down to the love-making, he lets go of his inhibitions fairly easily now -- which is to Minerva's great pleasure!Yup, only three chappies of RaM to go, but Death's Dominion is still out there, and although it may not on the surface, given the first chapters, seem like an ADMM fic, we will go back and see various events from Albus's and Minerva's perspectives, so it's also ADMM. I hope to have the next chapter of RaM up soon.I am very glad you are enjoying RaM and the other RaM-verse stories (have you read them all? if you go to my LJ, there's a list of them in a recent post, or you can go to the list of all my stories on my LJ, and the list of RaM-verse stories is in the description of RaM).Thank you for reviewing and letting me know how much you enjoy the story -- it means a lot!
I had the same feeling as Hypnobarb as far as reading the 2 stories together. It makes DD all the more poignant and emotional to read, I suspect, and makes this one more emotional too. Even though we know there are 40 yrs between the two stories, 25ish of them in peace-time and thus presumably fairly placid for our beloved couple ....still, to know the shape of their last days together this side of the vale as we read the pure pleasure of their first fortnight keeps it grounded in how life really is and will be....for better and for worse....Glad to learn more of Malcolm and that Minerva is beginning to be able to see him whole, rather than the somewhat lopsided views of her youth. And Albus can persuade me anytime.....
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
I think he'll only be practising that kind of persuasion on Minerva from now on! LOLI hope you continue to enjoy DD. HwtH is almost finished, then there are only three chapters of RaM left. Hard to believe . . .Thanks for reviewing!
Yeah...Minerva saw Ablach! As for the rest of the story.....hot stuff!!!! Albus still does not know for how long exactly Minerva has loved him....
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
No, he doesn't know exactly, does he? Glad you're enjoying it. One more chapter, then we're back to Hogwarts and the last few chapters of RaM! Phew! Thank you for reviewing!
The romantic interlude is winding down. I liked the story of Malcolm being a big brother. They must find time to visit the island whenever they can.It is very odd to read this story and Death's Dominion at the same time. Albus is in good health and the relationship with Minerva is just evolving. Switch forty years into the future and whammo! Just odd.
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
It might be even odder to be writing them at the same time , but I have a sort of total picture of the timeline, which helps! Also, since I started Death's Dominion last August, it's been in the back of my mind since then.Glad you liked the story of Malcolm being a big brother. Thanks for reviewing!
Sweet Merlin! Albus could certainly persuade me...wow talk about steamy early morning activities. I'd say he's very skilled in the art of seduction, persuasion, and execution of his plans indeed. And Minerva should be one very happy and very satisfied witch to prove it. LOLThe story and the lullabye were absolutely beautiful. I hope Minerva takes a moment when they return to properly thank Malcolm for telling her the story of Dream Angus and helping her overcome her nightmares when she was little. I think now she'll have a better appreciation for his stories now that she's seeing him through different eyes.
Another beautiful AND HOT HOT HOT chapter. I honestly hate to see this story end...and not just because of the lemons and lemonade. It's relaxing and wonderful to see Albus and Minerva getting some time alone without all the worries of Hogwarts and his other duties and interruptions. Going away was the best idea they've had all summer...haha.
Hope to see more soonGLM
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
There's one more chapter before we return to Hogwarts and RaM, so their little vacation isn't quite over yet.I'm very glad you enjoyed the lemonade this chapter! I think that Minerva was easily persuaded, but it never hurts to have Albus practice his skills in that area! Thanks for the review! I'm glad you are enjoying the story so much!
Another graet chapter! I love the seals watching Albus and Minerva making love! That was so cute! This little island is a dreamland......Just wonderful....I wonder if they will see the mystic island at sunset....maybe the last evening...
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter -- and the seals! Thanks for the review!
That was a lovely chapter - Minerva's story was so sweet! I'm glad that she is going to tell Malcolm how much she appreciates him. And Albus's lullaby was sad, at parts, but quite nice and romantic as well. I especially enjoyed Albus's persuading tactics! I'm sad, though, that this is their last day on the island, although all good things do come to an end. Great job, though!
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
I'm glad you liked Malcolm/Minerva's story -- it's one of those little bits I've wanted to put in somewhere for quite a while, and when I started the holiday fic, I thought it would be the perfect place for it. Thanks for reviewing. ("Great job" always reminds me of my fourth grade teacher -- she always used to put that on my spelling tests! LOL!)
"That spell certainly was something".......Oh sweet Merlin, what a steamy story...... I bet the spell will continue even in the water...... An absolutely awesome story....I feel like being on a holyday myself....What a wonderful island and what a cute little cottage.....I love your detailed descriptions as always.....You were right, I need some rest between the chapters to cool down and recover.....Just wow...
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
I'm glad you are enjoying it so much! I was hoping reading it would be a bit like being on holiday! I do think one might be able to O.D. on lemons if one read the entire story at once, though! Teehee . . .Thanks for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Hypnobarb--I love your POV in these reviews! Adults Only--cooling charms--indeed! [In my joint-use public/middle school library we used to keep _The Joy of Sex_ on desk reserve, but who needs TJoS for adolescent titillation nowadays when you can read Cosmo in both the English and Spanish editions ....wonder what the wizarding equivalents of Sugar and Cosmo and Men's Health are ...? <g> Albus and Minerva could write a Q&A column under assumed names...]Another good chapter, of course. Minerva is quite the vixen. It is clearly the height of lemon season in the Highlands and Hebrides as well as in SoCal! I think Albus's seedy exploits in his youth must have been quite something indeed, given the depth of his reaction and fears 80 yrs later--ground rules, etc.--and those are just the exploits he remembers...And he's still a silly, foolish wizard--at the end she says she's loved him 'a lifetime or more' and yet he's still doubting that her feelings won't change at some point. I'm glad M got to see Ablach.Their holiday is nearly over, but I'm sure they'll end it on a spectacular note!
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
One really doesn't need a book -- just a little imagination . . . and, of course, and imaginative partner! *grin*Uh, I don't think that Albus thinks that Minerva will stop loving him. Things are more complex for that very complex wizard. Natch! ;PI wanted to do it in ten chapters ("11" seems us a messy sort of number to me), but I'm afraid that there will be one more chapter after ten. Just to kind of wrap things up and get a couple more little fun scenes (no, I'm not talking lemons -- get your mind out of the gutter, dear! LOL!) before they go back to Hogwarts and their "real lives."Hope you'll enjoy the next chapter! Thanks for the review!
I review this without having read yet...I became impatient for a RaM-update and today I looked at your live journal and found this!!!!!! This guarantees for a great weekend!!!! Looking so much forward to it!!!!!! I'll review again after reading all chapters..... BTW....love the emotions here.....
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Don't you adore the fun emoticons? Especially the HP-themed ones. This story is quite lemon-rich, so I don't know if you want to read it all at once -- you might have some kind of nuclear meltdown! haha! I look forward to your review after you've read it! TTFN!
These two are going to be able to write a book of instruction under assumed names that will have to be kept in the Adults Only section of the Restricted Section. The book will have to have cooling charms on it to keep from bursting into flames.I can imagine a set of circumstances in the future when Albus will see Avalon.
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
I sometimes wonder if that's not what caused my laptop to start smoking a couple weeks ago! Well, not the laptop, the AC adaptor cord . . . . It was torture to be without my laptop while waiting for the new adaptor. Glad you liked it!
I don't know how they're--erm--holding up, as I'm a complete puddle. Gods.Ah, so lovely, though, to discover such intimacy, in contrast to his youth. Beautifully written!I'm not sure I can get through yet another chapter tonight! Wowzer.
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Thank you! They do have breaks for meal and walks -- and swims! haha!Hope you enjoy the next chapter when you get to it!
Jeeze....That's going to take some time to recover from. And there are two more chapters, and the update to AoL!WOW!Had to laugh at the swim, though, that was a little bit of turnabout for Minerva's logical trek around the island!
Response from MMADfan (Author of A Holiday with the Headmaster)
Minerva's plans and idea of a good time are occasionally somewhat different from Albus's, aren't they! haha! After the epilogue of AAoL, you should check out "Death's Dominion," the sequel. Very short, fast chapters, and there are four up. Well, the prologue and three chapters.
