Severus Snape is sitting sleeplessly in the kitchen at Grimmauld Place when somebody close to his heart returns from a dangerous appointment. One shot. HBP and DH disregarded.

Yes it is what it is, and always will be.
Totally beautiful. Your description of Snape's inner thoughts juxtaposed to his spoken words was so very effective in letting the reader understand, in a one-shot, what was truly in his heart and mind. Very lovely!Beth
That is a beautiful poem, where did you get it from? or did you write it yourself?Good Job on the story though
awwwww... that is so sweet :)

I am glad you liked it. Thanks for reviewing, it really makes my day :-) Sel.
Bravo! That was great... a happy ending... an absolutely marvelous poem - a poem that sounds just like Snape would feel in fact. Great job!!
Response from selinabln (Author of What It Is)
Merci :-) I am a hopeless romantic and therefore addicted to happily ever afters :-) The poem is a modification of the poem "What it is" from the Austrian poet Erich Fried. And what makes some of his works very fitting for HG/SS is the fact that he was a man who was deeply in love with a much younger woman, therefore his work often deals with problems related to this situation. I highly recommend his poems "Unplanned" and "Irresponsible" .... :-) Sel.
OHMY! Thank goodness for Narcissa doing the resucing. It could have been quite another story if not for her. Quite lovely
Response from selinabln (Author of What It Is)
I know what you mean. I have a soft spot for Narcissa since HBP, because I love how she defies Voldemort and Bellatrix for the sake of Draco. Thanks for reviewing :-) Sel.
that was lovely. *sighs* and that is a beautiful poem.
Response from selinabln (Author of What It Is)
Thank you :-) Erich Fried is a wondeful poet, his work is always very soulful. Stuart Hood's translation of his poems into English is highly recommendable. Sel.
Response from kittylefish (Reviewer)
i made a note of that and will look for it. thanks.
Great story.I usually don't like one-shots because I feel we don't have the time to really know the characters ; one-shots usually leave me with many questions about the characters, but, in this one, you managed to develop a believable "state of mind" for Severus. And the poem is beatiful, especially because it is so simple and moving.

*smiles from ear to ear*
You cannot imagine what reviews like yours do to me, thats a pure dose of endorphin, especially since I am not a native speaker and therefore really unsure how my writing skills work with the English language :-)
Thank you for your wonderful review, it is dearly cherished.
Sel.
Absolutely wonderful!!! Love it very, very much. Hope to see more from you! ^.~

*does a happy dance* Thank you for your wonderful feedback. I am already submitting a longer story here at TPP. It is called Quite Enchanting. Pure fluff, but it was something I desperately needed after DH. And therefore it is already completely written.
Sel.
That was sooooo sweet! Very romantic!
Response from selinabln (Author of What It Is)
I am a hopeless romantic, I can't help myself :-)
Good to hear you liked it.
Sel.
The poem's beautiful and you did something even more fantanstic with it. I'm completely under the charm.
Response from selinabln (Author of What It Is)
Thank you :-) I love the poem and somehow it struck me that it would be a perfect poem for the Potions master and than it was only a short while before the plot bunny bit me ;-))
Your feedback really makes my day :-)

*blushes* thank you.... This was my first piece of fanfiction after a long existence as lurker. Combined with the fact that I am not a native speaker it took me a lot of nerves and courage to post it at all, therefore I am overwhelmed that you liked it that much.

I'm no HG/SS-shipper, and in general, I think a relationship between them is rather unlikely. Particularly them falling in love for each other without some dire circumstancs bringing them really close together.
But once in a while I read I story like yours, where, against all odds as I see them, this really works out, and it works out well, and the fact seems so obvious.
Lovely piece, beautifully written.
Author's Response:
Oh, merci :-) I am thrilled that I could make the ship work for you in this one shot. As you can guess I am a HG/SS-shipper by heart, who is still dealing with the aftershocks of DH. And since I am not a native speaker I am over the moon to know that you liked my writing as well.
Sel.
How wonderful, hope you will be writing more stories soon. You have a new fan.

Oh, wow. I am ecstatic that you liked my writing so much.... I am working a few projects right now. So there will be more coming... I cannot tell how much your feedback means to me.

This is the sweetest one-shot I have read in a loooong time!
I love how you quote Erich Fried - his Shakespeare translations are actually the most wonderful ones I ever found (I'm a German native speaker).
Thank you for this beautiful story!!
Response from selinabln (Author of What It Is)
Danke :-) I am a German native speaker myself and therefore really fond of Erich Fried's works as well.
Sel.
PS: Wunderbare Nickname-Wahl - sehr 'faustisch' ;-))

Ooh, this is lovely :) Nicely done. I like the pacing and the interpersed thoughts. I love the poem on the back of the photo. Beautiful.
Response from selinabln (Author of What It Is)
Thank you :-)
I have always seen the Potions master who has to deal with his inner conflicts - heart vs. mind, sense vs. reason. Therefore it fitted to me that he would place the poem on the back of photo to remind himself how foolish and hopeless his affection for Hermione is each time he gets lost in the gazing at her photo.
I am really glad you liked the one shot. It was my first piece of fanfiction and I chearish it dearly.

Well, that's what happens when you answer reviews in the early morning - whole parts of the sentence are missing or simply crap ;-))
Therefore once again with a little bit more concentration - hopefully:
