Hermione is forced to lead a double life when she agrees to Dumbledore's plan to protect Professor Snape. Inspired by the Marriage Law. Warning for student/teacher relationship, though Hermione is of age.

Grape Forever!
Reviews for Second Life
What a suspenseful chapter! Can't wait to see what happens next!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thanks! More very soon...
Well I only have two chapters left to be up to speed, and so far I am really enjoying the story, you have really managed to intertwine the actual book timelines with your own and it is working well together.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm glad you're still enjoying it. There is much more to come!
A small glimpse of hope that snape and hermione could talk, and then bam! they can't talk freely. Loved it.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thanks!
And another fantastic chapter. Ron is really getting on my nerve. Stupid git, always thinking about food. i can't understand why JKR made him end with Hermione. He really don't deserve her.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
No, they were a poor match, I agree. Though poor Ron really kind of got the shaft in DH! Thanks for reviewing!
That Horcrux is definitely more dangerous than they had thought. I hope they're able to destroy it soon. I wonder who's outside the tent. I'm hoping it's someone there to help them. I can't wait until the next chapter. I wonder why the locket affects Ron more than anyone else; but now it seems to be attacking Hermione.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
It's true; the Horcrux is bad news. I think it attacks anyone who wears it, but it remains to be seen why Ron suffers the worst from it. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!
Poor snape, he is going to live because hermione has that one potion meant for harry, and she is going to use it on snape instead, I hope anyway.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm not saying anything about that. :)
I wish she could pop into spinners end just to see snape.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Me, too!
You have done a great job with the feelings they had while in the forest. A perfect job describing the locket and its affects. Thank you for your hard work
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! And thanks for reading and reviewing!
That horcrux is a nasty thing, I hope they figure out how to disable it soon
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
It is nasty. I hope so too! Thanks for reviewing. :)
Hi Lariope,Funny, the camping never bothered me one way or another. It was just part of the plot, and the disconnection from their world, relying on their own (read: Hermione's) resources, and being isolated with that dreadful locket was an important part of their maturing (or not, as the case may be). I saw it as a metaphor for being Grown Up and responsible for one's own destingy. But now I will have to re-read DH to see if I can understand others' perspectives on The Camping. And in RL, I hate camping, so that's not it!I've read through the reviews on this chapter and they have left me with very little to say. I too, thought your description of their "smirking camaradere" was eloquent. You add such richness to DH by filling in the interstices with such detail and depth. And, of course by putting the focus back on the two most important characters, Hermione and Severus :). RR
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Dear RedRoo,I just wrote this huge response detailing all the reasons that I thought people didn't like the camping, and then I read it back and it just seemed like some weird lecture I was delivering. :)Anyway, I wasn't particularly fond of the camping in DH either, though I was obviously interested in the Horcrux. I'm interested that you saw the camping as a metaphor for being grown up--I'm not sure I can articulate how I saw it--a kind of physical representation of the narrowing of their world and focus?I'm glad you liked the chapter. Thanks for reviewing!Lariope
Response from RedRoo45 (Reviewer)
Well, I'd be interested to hear why you think people hated it, so if you saved the response go ahead and post it and I promise I won't feel lectured at! Part of my job is lecturing, so it would serve me right, anyway. Maybe I didn't mind it because I was a fairly casual HP fan, if that, when I read DH -- I only got into fanfiction by accident when I was browsing online for reviews of DH in idle curiosity one day.
Scary dream.Great story!I've even rec'd it to some friends. ^_^Looking forward to more.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you, Aura! I really appreciate that! I hope you continue to enjoy it.
Great chapter! I think it was so well written that the camping scene was a pleasure to read. I'm really glad you made Hermione to be not so great at cooking! It was a fun element and it demonstrated that Hermione is not perfect. The imagery of her fish being burnt on one side and raw on the other was very vivid. The role of the Horcrux in this chapter was brilliant!Second Life continues to be a top notch story!Very well done my dear!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you,
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
. :) I think it's only fair that Hermione not be good at everything. :) She's only human. I'm very glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for reviewing!
Interesting chapter - the neckclass is indeed creepy - even more in your story than the book - I loved it. I do wonder what the patronus was.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you. I find that necklace very creepy! Thanks for reviewing!
I simply love how you have written this story. It is by far one of the best I have ever read because it feels as if I'm re-reading the book over again, except this time in Hermione's point of view, and a bunch of "behind the scenes" things happening ;PI check in quite often to see when you have updated and hope this story doesn't end anytime soon. The last two chapters I feel like I've read with some empathy. It's almost as if I can feel what Hermione is feeling as I continue to read and if there is one thing that makes a good story, that is what it would be.Words just can't explain how amazing I think this story is. It's very hard for me to read a story on here all the way through, but I've read all of this one and I'm hoping for a lot more. You constantly have me wondering what's going to happen next and how it will all end up.Excellent job. I mean it!! :)
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much! This review really touches me. I'm glad you're reading and enjoying it. Yay! I hope you will stick with me. :)
If JKR had written The Endless Camping Trip (TM) like this, I would not have minded at all. I absolutely love where you're going with the Horcrux locket. Wonderful dynamics in this chapter. Interesting character development too. Harry is coming into his own, whereas Ron is becoming progressively less endearing. I got very strong Frodo-Sam vibes in this chapter--where Ron is Frodo and Harry Sam (interesting inverted parallellism). All in all, very good. More? *hopeful look" :-)
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
The Endless Camping Trip (TM). LOL.I'm fascinated by the LOTR theme in this chapter--everyone seems to be feeling it--which is one of those interesting cases where something seems obvious to everyone but the author. It's sending me running back to reread LOTR. Yes, I'm emailing now. Thank you for reviewing!
Well - interesting chapter - Dumbledore in this one has schemed more than the books. He is cold in a way that everyone is scarifical to the cause. I do not like this part of him but in writing - it is good.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I know what you mean. I think Scheming!Dumbledore is hard to swallow--such an unforgiving way of looking at him. I don't like it either, but I think there are parts of DH, particularly in Snape's memories, where he shows this side of himself, so I'm messing with that. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
uh oh, I hope he is going to help her hide them instead.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
You will soon know! :)
They really need to get rid of the Horcrux. Severus needs to get them the sword soon.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I agree...hang on just a bit longer. :)
Oh, what a good way of explaining Ron. I've never understood how JKR could allow him to be welcomed back so readily by Harry and Hermione if he truly abandoned them, but having the Horcrux messing with them makes much more sense. Well done!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
This makes me so happy; you have no idea. That was what I wanted, to forgive poor Ronald Weasley. Thank you so much for reviewing! You've made my day.
I realise I'm in a tiny minority of people who actually enjoyed all the camping in DH ;-) but if anything, that just increases my enjoyment of this chapter! It's so great to see it from another point of view, too - not just all Harry, all the time.I'm glad Hermione had her serious doubts about Snape's sincerity regarding their relationship while wearing the Horcrux... hopefully that will make it a bit easier for her to deal with those awful thoughts.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
OMG! I think you are the first person I've ever known to say they liked the camping! And I'm very glad you could still enjoy it from Hermione's perspective. Thank you for reviewing!
whooti just cant believe how well you are dooing with this story it is really amazingthank you for another wonderful chapter
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm so happy that you think so. Hugs for you, my dear.
I love the effect the Horcrux is having on each of them. You are right. This is the camping chapter, but it is no less brilliant then the others!Kisses

Oh, thank you! I'm just grinning. I'm glad you liked it.
I'm glad Hermione is having doubts, J.K.R. made this section of the story entirely too much bland. I'm glad you gave it a bit more zest!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I agree--when I was reading DH, I felt completely weighed down by all the dratted camping. I'm glad you felt this was a bit more exciting. :) Thank you so much.
If only Snape and Hermione had cells phones!!!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
What a different story it would be. ;) hehehe. Thanks for reviewing!
