Severus Snape survives Nagini’s venomous bite (or does he?) and yet seemingly drops off the face of the earth. The story opens twenty-two years after the defeat of Voldemort and covers the quest of Hermione Granger as she struggles to uncover the truth behind her recurring nightmares of Snape’s “death”.
The first chapter opens with Hermione having a nightmare about Severus Snape’s “death”. Disquieted, she resolves to delve into the past so as to understand why she is haunted by the mental visions of his “death”.

good work. Excellent end to an excellent story. Cheers
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Thank you for everything - your help, kindness, friendship and understanding. *hugs*
A show that I've watched a few times and always enjoyed had a plot where the man gets killed and then gets reincarnated only to fnd himself dating his "daughter." Once he meets her mother, things start coming back to him, and he tries to get back with her. Odd sounding, I know, but it works out that the Angels who neglected to give him his "forgetful shot" or something, found him and gave it to him. The wife marries his old best friend, who's loved her for years and the daughter and the guy marry as well. It's much better than how I've described, but anyway, your story made me think of that. :)
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I know what you mean. I toyed with the reincarnation theory as well, but dropped it. I just enjoy dabbling in literary mind games... Maybe I'm just perverse. Thank you for reviewing!
love the dreams
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
So do I - if only for meddlesome Dumbledore!
I've always loved your writng style. :)
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I know, you've just told me so. *giggles*
Did I mention I enjoy this Hermione? ~nod~
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
This Hermione is a thinker and a doer. I get fed up when she pulls things out of her arse and goes, "That's the solution, let's do it." I tried to get into her head here without going too far in. Glad you're enjoying this. *grins*
Mystery abounds
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Ta da! Mystery! Smoke and Mirrors! And Hermione to the rescue! *grins sheepishly*
Interesting backstory. :)
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I rather think so too, but playing around with the timeline gave me a royal headache. I'm glad it turned out comprehensible. :)
great start
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I think so too. I wanted it to conjure the image of heaviness and weariness. It is said great actors act with their eyes. I think good writers conjure moods with their words. Though in my case, I seem to conjure other things. Lol.
Did I mention how extremely well researched this is? And I think your every day phrases in Latin are hilarious. ^^
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Considering that I cracked a joke on male strippers in Latin when my cousin took the lot of us out, you should get a far sense of my (in)sanity. The research was hell, but the writing was worse. It was - especially under certain conditions.
Before berating you for writing one of my pet peeves, just let it be said that I wouldn't comment if I didn't like your story. While heavy on writing, it's interesting and I can't wait to find out how Perseuss and Snape are connected. ^^On to my pet peeve: No German who speaks English (or any other foreign language) fluently, as Perseuss seems to do, would include easy German words like Danke or Frau in their speech (while speaking English, of course). I understand it's difficult to show somebody is from another country without altering their speech, and I know even famous published authors like to portray us that way, but that's not the way Germans speak English. Most of us do have funny accents and tend to use German grammar with English words, or translate stuff literally and use prepositions all wrong (one thing that struck me is that a lot of Germans use "or" instead of "isn't it" etc. for confirming things), but we do try to use English words, and describe what we mean if we don't know/remember the word. Ah well, sorry for the rant. :-) And on with reading. *g*
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Thank you for leaving a comment. It is very much appreciated.
Nice to see that Hermione finally got some answers about her dreams, though not complete answers. I do wonder about the dark German stranger. I have a theory on that, but we'll see if it pans out.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
There are always theories - I had my theories on notepaper too when I wrote this. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Interesting start. There's a bit too much entwining of Muggle and wizarding worlds for me, but given the direction the story's taking, I don't think it will be an issue. I do like how you have Hermione having a nightmare about Snape's death as the catalyst to start her whole quest. And I really do see her an Ron not having a truly compatible marriage and you showed that very well.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I do try to set the mood with writing and I wanted to blur dreams and reality as well as Muggle and Wizaring. It's meant to be thematic. I'm so glad you understand. Cheers and thanks for the review.
I adore the way you've wrapped up this bit. The pieces all fit together perfectly, and it looks beautiful! I can't wait for Sev...Perseuss to meet the kids!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I don't generally write children for reasons best known to myself. There's one more chapter to go. We'll see then. Thank you for your continued support of this modest tale.
I think old Dumbly-dorr would have had a burning penchant for 007! And I am astounded that among everything else, you managed to bring Chinese history into your story! Bravissima!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Dumbles' love for 007 does seem to fit him. tee hee. Thank you for your kind words.
It's unfolding beautifully. It's amazing how complex and captivating this story is, it will definitely be in my favorites after the reveal!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I think I shall stoned by readers antipathetic to this story... We shall see... This story is what it is, thank you for accepting it as it is.
"Cease molesting me." Hah! I love it! Another fantastic chapter, I can personally relate to the propelling pen abuse, I do it all the time!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I abuse propelling pens all the time too! Severus seems like the sort to say "Cease molesting me". Your compliments are very much appreciated.
I don't remember if you told us but it most certainly appears that things are wrapping up. Sometimes I felt very bogged down with too many details but I also realize that is a part of your style and I have come to appreciate it - the story would not make sense otherwise. I also appreciate the little footnotes/glossary at the end of each chap - it has really helped. I have really enjoyed the story so far. I look forward to an update!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
The whole story wraps in ch 11. I never say things for the sake of saying them in the story. There are Chekov's guns all over the place, unfortunately this leads some readers to react very negatively. Next and final instalment should be up next week. Stay tuned.
First, I'd like to apologise for taking so long to get back to you! I've been a bit busy for the past couple of days. I really enjoyed this chapter for several reasons, first it appears to be a succesful brewing, second Severus appears to be a happier person and lastly I loved his resourceful cunning methods to aquire what he needed (the water, peach stone etc). I'll be sorry to see this story finished, but you have given us quite a fun ride!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I know how real life can be. You should see the circumstances under which I wrote this fic... Well, Sevvie is happier in this incarnation though I see people with pitchforks saying 'OOC'. Bah! The next chapter wraps everything so stay tuned!
Response from sinbad (Reviewer)
Ignore the OCC complaints. He is a new person in effect, so of course he has a different personality.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Very kind of you to say so, Sinbad. I appreciate the sentiments. However, just to play it safe, I am commissioning full body armour and lots and lots of veils with which to shroud myself when the reveal happens.
A few more chapters please, it seems you are winding it up
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I am winding up because I wrote the original manuscript while on field research in country X under somewhat trying conditions. With only a knapsack, a pen, pencil and interview notes, I had to make sure the story (written in the margins and at the back of interview notes) did not go missing in those trying conditions.
It all ends in Ch 11. So see you there! *retreats to underground bunker*
At least Severus has all his memories back now, even if it includes all the bad ones.I love how this new Severus teases Hermione about the ingredients he has already managed to get. This interaction between them is lovely.I hope they keep him at the Chambers!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
The old Severus was a troubled man who took himself too seriously because of his experiences. This Severus has a different upbringing and is therefore able to laugh at himself and at others.
Well, as to whether they keep him at Chambers, that's a matter for Ch 11.
Things are looking very hopeful and I'm sure he will be happier living a life for himself as Perseuss. I guess Hermione didn't kiss him as requested did she?
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Alas, she did not kiss him. I don't think most women would kiss a man who says, "Kiss me, hard on the mouth." I know I wouldn't.
I wanted to bring out the nature vs nurture theme and played around with Severus living twice - once as himself and once as Perseuss with a different upbringing environment &ca. I have a feeling he would be happier too. :)
Another good chapter - cannot wait to see if the potion is permanent - I do not blame Severus for not wanting to give up the life he had now and the youth- he has nothing really to return to and this life can offer him so much more.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Ah, questions, questions. The next and last chapter will end things and we will see how it all pans out.
Funny you should mentioned that he would choose this new life over his old one. The working title of this fic was "You only live twice" after the Bond film.
Ron is getting downright nasty. Perseuss now believes. Hermione has moved. They have a recipe. Things are getting exciting.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
And Chapter 10 reveals the exact nature of the recipe. Stay tuned!
I dislike Ronald Weasley. He annoys me. He has always annoyed me. You've made him even more despicable and hypocritical than I would have thought possible. I like the detail and the historical research you put into this. It is obviously not a story thrown together on a boring Monday night.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Well, I culled the Ron of this story from personal observation and experience.
I do my thinking while on the bus or the tube. This story however, I confess, was written at the back of and in the margins of notes. Thank you for your kind compliments.
That was a very lawyerly discourse of a + b = c. Very fitting in terms of Hermione's character and a creative invention of the magic process necessary to make it work.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Thank you for noticing the a+b=c methodology. As for the rest, the remaining chapters will reveal all. Thank you once again for your continued support of the story.
