The story opens twenty-two years after the defeat of Voldemort and covers the quest of Hermione Granger as she struggles to uncover the truth behind her recurring nightmares of Snape’s “death”.
The first chapter opens with Hermione having a nightmare about Severus Snape’s “death”. Disquieted, she resolves to delve into the past so as to understand why she is haunted by the mental visions of his “death”.

10 points to you house for making me laugh out loud over this phrase "the good penis Potter"
Holy cow why are Hermione and Ron still married. They dont even seem to be friends anymore and Ron is only concerned with sex. Ewwww. BEGONE RON!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I modelled Ron after my father and brother. It would appear that some men get more "lecherous" with age. Some have called it unrealistic, but having the misfortune to bear witness to father pestering mother while she's slaving over a hot stove cooking, I thought it could work for the story. But I do concede that for a first chapter, it may be a tad shocking. Thank you for your kind comments.
I knew it! somehow Perseuss is Severus Snape! ‘Severus Snape who somehow always seemed to phase into Perseuss von Bastiae and vice versa…’ It’s the potion, it not only took away some of his memories, but made him younger! Am I right? I don’t mind the troubled relationship between Hermione and Ron at all – they were never well suited for each other. I look forward to the next installment. But I do think you could drop some of the stuff in your Author’s Notes, especially the legal stuff you’re repeating in each chapter. It’s kind of annoying.

Thank you for your review. please bear with me as i am dictating this response to the person who shares my computer. i am currently sick and unable to personally respond.
In the many years of writing fanfic, I have had the experience where readers would ask me to explain something that I had already explained in a previous chapter. I learnt the hard way (by replying to multiple reviews and emails asking the same questions) that readers very rarely cross-refer to a previous chapter to look up a definition or explanation. To obviate such a thing happening, I repeat footnotes. However, I get tired of typing the footnotes so I always say "Term/word: c.f to ft in ch X where it was explained" It always works for academic writing and it has worked for me in fanfic.
Furthermore, it has also come to my attention that there are some who do not read the footnotes. these readers still believe that Chambers=law firm. that is not true, if you look at the definition of chambers and the definition of firm - they are different as night and day. there is also still existent the misconception that "pupil" means student in this story. this is despite the fact that i have explained "pupil" in the footnotes, and that pupil (the legal noun) does not mean student. a pupil in the Br. legal sense of the word has already gotten his/her LLB in Law. The pupillage is a period when the pupil has on the job training before he/she takes the bar exams and is called to bar (only if he/she passes the exam). I tried explaining this but apparently no one reads the footnotes, and when I see online discussions of it getting the facts wrong, it annoys me. this is especially since i cannot respond directly owing to the rules of the challenge.
Now that i have explained myself please try to understand and respect my decision for repeating footnotes. *ft=footnotes, c/f=cross refer.
Also please note that my author's notes are different from my footnotes. footnotes are explanations of terminology. author's notes are warnings and overviews. There is a difference, and I have made it deliberately so. It is also my experience that people skip author's notes and then complain that the story does not prepare them for X or Y. That is why - to minimise this sort of nonsense, I repeat author's notes as well.
Response from beaweasley2 (Reviewer)
OH! Sorry. I read the foot notes each time and with each chapter, although reciently I've just been scanning them, only stopping when something new catches my eye.
It's crazy that people don't read the notes, especially when someone is using technical terms and titles usually only associated within a particular field. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend, but I now fully understand... Please by alll means - continue with the story. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes...
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
i don't mind your comment. it was very insightful, and i appreciate the time you take to go through the story from top to bottom. very little offends me these days. as for where this goes - the whole story wraps up in ch 11, so be patient. :)
What a completely terrible and mean cliffie! I wonder what it means that Hermione's dreams are changing, and that she has some control over them?
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Ah yes... I am mean and terrible to throw in a cliffhanger. Fear not, things will be more or less expounded upon and explained by and by.
Oh yeah - I loved this chapter. The dream sequence with Severus was amazing. I cannot believe he called her a chit as she is now a woman... It was good that it got beyond him dying - this means answers hopefully are to come as to what happened to him.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Older people in my experience do call females younger than them chits, more so if they do not think much of them. The dream sequence is a bit of a foreshadowing yet not quite. 4 more chapters to go. All will be revealed by and bye.
Oh man, what a place to leave off! At least I am convinced that Severus and Perseuss are the same person.

I loved Hermione's dressing down of Ron. The virtuous third party in the marriage was also a hoot.

Thank you, I write from observation and am glad that it translated well into the printed medium.

I loved the use of the Greeek in the messages. Things between Dumbledore and Severus were so complicated, but then Severus was apt with the skills of logic. A very interesting chapter...
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Yes! At last, someone who finally gets why I use the Greek! Thank you. *air kisses*

This story must be a bear to research, I am quite impressed with all the work you are putting into this story. Great job!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
All my writings are researched. Fortunately, this tale has been a pleasure to write.

Very enjoyable, and I loved the corespondence between the wizards. So much insight on the what happened and the thoughts between the two was shared.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I am glad you liked the correspondence. I tried to make it oblique without being too technical and philosophical. As many readers have asked what happens to Severus, let me just say that the clues are in this chapter. Thank you for reading.

Seems Hermione has a stalker. How else could her medical information be known?
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
There are perfectly logical reasons. They will be revealed by and bye... Thank you for your continued interest in this story
anyone who calls themself "simple, understanding, pure and virtuous" needs a huge kick! Poor you. I would have killed her long time ago! I love how you ascribed these character traits to Ron and Lavender.I love your writing style. No matter what anyone says, its is great and unique to a brilliant fanfic writer!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Thank you so very much for your effusive praise. I only write to as a means of stress relief. So I am very happy that others take a little bit of joy in my writing. Thank you once again.
Hmmm, this seems to get more complicated by the chapter. I hope Hermione figures it out soon. The suspense is killing me!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
It was just as complicated to write I assure you. Read on.
TONY/DAPHNE!!!! OMG!!!! :D I YOU!!! Soon as I know who you are I'm going to worship at your feet for this, and I've just made a thoroughly incoherent squeeful post to my LJ too. I'm sure my entire flist thinks I've gone completely barmy, but I can't find it in myself to care! *smooch*
Okay, now that I've got that (partly) out of my system, I can read the rest of the chapter.
Okay, I've read the rest now, and I'm so confused! I still think he's a sort of reincarnation of Severus but I'm confused about all these things he claims not to know how he knows. I'm inclined to believe him though. Even if I can't figure out how someone writes Latin and not knowing why or what they're writing. And how does Tony Blair and the Labour Party fit in? And there's something fishy about the Floo being disconnected as well.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Let's just say Anthony/Daphne is fan-service for you because you mentioned it in a review some time ago. Do npt worry, it only required minor rewriting of the chapter (and as it does not affect the rest of the main story, I threw it in). No need to prostrate at my feet, I am just an ordinary person - a writer in the fandom as you are. But I do thank you for the effusive remarks and praise. I am deeply touched. Contrary to popular belief, affection is a pressure that I can bear very well.
(1) Clues as to what may have happened to Snape are in Ch 5 - go through everything that Hermione sees and thinks about and discovers in the British Library.
(2) The Tony Blair and Labour bit is an inside joke between my prelim reader and me. We are Tory supporters or would be if we were in the UK. The floo thing is just to demonstrate that the bureaucratic machinery has gotten worse due to out-sourcing, which has happened in the country of my birth. It is a thinly veiled criticism of the political machinery in the country of my birth.
There is definately something more to Perseuss than he's letting on. I cant wait till you reveal all!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
All the questions about the young German... well, time will reveal all, or almost all. Some bits require thinking on the readers' parts.
Typical Ron. He's the one guilty of having an affair, yet is quick to accuse Hermione.I wanted to strangel him during their agument! All he could do was bring up the same subject againand again, and when he was shot down, told her not to bring up that subject. Men! Tcsha! *Rolls eyes*
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Ron is what he is, and his behaviour and words are based on that of a male that I have had great opportunity to observe.
Hmmm. Interesting that a dark haired, dark eyed young man, with lots of books captured Hermione's attention.Cant wait to see how he fits into the plot.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Well... let's just say he's a bit of a bystander...
Interesting beginning. I can see how Hermione may be trapped into a marriage that seemed like a good idea at the time, but as the years go by, she realises there is nothin in common between them anymore.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
That is one of the things I was trying to project - another is that some chaps are one thing when you date them and another thing when you marry them.
This is interesting. It must be something other than polyjuice, why does he keep washing his face? The Goyle/Malfoy drama was fun.
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
There is no polyjuice. Have you ever felt the need to clear your head by going to the loo and just splashing water on your face so that you will "wake up" because something disquieting has just happened? I have. The same goes for young Perseuss.

Bizarrely, at first I imagined 'silk application' to be rhyming slang for 'reputation.' That's me told. Excellent story, by the way - I'm really enjoying it. Is Perseuss an altered version of Snape (potions accident, maybe?) or has he somehow ingested Snape's soul? I'm eager to find out what happens next!
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Ah, I have lost count of the questions on the young German... Only time will tell. Have patience.

So... good...
Sorry, I'm just so overwhelmed by your fantastic plot that I was having trouble stringing together a coherent sentence. And who is this strapping young German lad? Must read more...
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
Ah, the German fellow. So many questions about the young chap, but I am not going to reveal anything yet. Read on...

So glad you liked it. My beta and I initially worried that the plot was too dark or depressing, but it seems to be holding its own. Thank you for expressing an interest in this.

Okay, this is where I get fangirly, obsessive and scary. So let that be your warning, okay?
You see, I play Daphne Greengrass in a couple of rpg's and in one of them she's nearly engaged to Anthony Goldstein, whose muggle plays him so wonderfully that I'm a little bit in love with him myself too. So just seeing them in the same sentence made me all squeeful and I had to go and post about it on my LJ (scared yet?), even though it's just a mention of their names here and it's obviously not my Daphnebird or her Tony, but... *mini-squee* Please tell me they're having a secret love affair and sneaking off now and then to have sex and I will love you forever! :D (If not, well... in my head they are. And often too!)
Yes, that's how pathetic I am.
Now, back to the story. Dear Ron, you're an arse. -Me.
I totally hadn't seen his affair coming, but I also wasn't the slightest bit surprised by it. It speaks volumes about their relationship that Hermione doesn't really care about it as long as their children aren't involved. I was surprised he didn't go so far as to claim they probably weren't even his, though. Also kind of relieved that he didn't.
Finally, Perseuss. Snape reincarnated y/n?
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I fangirl, obsess and can be scary too, so no harm done. Hmm, when the big reveal is over and done with, let me know what RP this is. My last RP has fallen and closed. Well, I did throw them in Chiswell Square Chambers. As for whether they are having a "thing" - who knows?Ah, Ron - one of the biggest arses I have writteb. Well, he knows the children are his. It is insinuated in the plot that Hermione had only lately (within the last 3-5 years) begun to immerse herself totally in her work. Because she has lately been so work-oriented instead of Ron-oriented, he thinks she is having an affair only recently (as in the late 3-5 years). And since the children were born before the last 3-5 years, he knows they are his. Well, that's my rationale at any rate.It seems my young German is giving my readers a bit of something to mull over. *snerk* Time will reveal all.
Response from Moreteadk (Reviewer)
Sadly that particular one will probably close too within the next six months at the most and they're not accepting new players. I'm going to miss my Tony/Daphne madly. I've got basically the same Daphne in a different game as well (except she's younger and somewhat depressed and generally mentally unstable at the moment), which is only a few months old and I know the modlies would be thrilled to get more players. :) Soon as I know who you are, I'll try to remember to shoot you a message. :)
And YAY for the possiblility of behind-the-scenes Tony/Daphne! :D
As for Ron, I'll admit I hadn't considered that. I was too caught up in all his other accusations. :p
Response from Lady Strange (Author of From the Blood of the Gorgon)
I could be stalking you after the reveal, for all we know... lol. Tony and Daphne aren't the leads in this drama however, we have yet to uncover the many questions raised in the chapters thus far. Only time will tell.

This is great! So far, this is exactly what I wanted to happen between Ron and Hermione - she deserves better! Post more!
