Reviews for Doing Time with Hermione Granger
what a beautiful and heartbreaking prologue! I am so glad he had the chance to talk with Dumbledore and especially Lily. Looking forward to the ride - I already know I'm going to be saving this fic for many re-reads!

Yes, Severus needed to get that over with before he could move on. Thanks for reading. Hope the rest doesn't disappoint!
Oh this is good. I can't wait for a update.

. Thanks for reading.
Hmm, I'm interested in seeing where this might lead. I like the first person narrative and the encounters between Severus and his old friends.
Response from Kailin (Author of Doing Time with Hermione Granger)
I truly enjoy writing first person fics, and Severus is so much fun that way!
I loved this story. I'm not too keen on 18 year old Hermione (or younger) with Snape, so I appreciate that you had her age before bringing them together. I think it is really interesting how you brought in that traditional schooling might seem a little odd after what she been through. I had friends in school who were called up in the middle of the first Gulf War. When they came back to pick up their classes, their bullshit tolerance was really low. One guy was brilliant, and he had several run ins with Umbridge like profs.

I think it would be really interesting to see how everybody fared during the first year after the war, but I know JKR won't be writing about it. I truly had anticipated writing a much darker story - Snape dealing with being a survivor, Ron trying to become Fred, Hermione unable to concentrate on her studies. Strangely enough, I think Harry would be largely untouched, probably because he had already been through so much. At any rate, I leave that plot bunny to someone better able to write angst. I'll stick tot romance!

I'm so sad this is over. But that also means you'll be writing something else maybe soon. This was a lovely story. Thank you very much to have share it with everyone in here.
Response from Kailin (Author of Doing Time with Hermione Granger)
You're quite welcome! I'm already plotting for another story, so hopefully the plot bunny will blossom into a full-blown rabbit.
Another sweet, yet sensible and believable romance from Kailin, who is a remarkably good at this sort of thing. It was nice to see such a gentle narrative told from Snape's point of view, which not a lot of people really manage to do. I liked it a lot. :)

*blushes* Thanks so much for your kind words!
awwwww - what a lovely ending . I loved this fic - it was so sweet and wonderfully written - cudos to you.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read AND review. I really appreciate it.
I loved the Celia picked up on Severus being in love with Hermione. I laughed at the heart doing a jig on the table - quite a good line. I loved that at the end of the chapter that they worked out there feelings - very good
Response from Kailin (Author of Doing Time with Hermione Granger)
Given how much space is given in fanfics to the fact that Snape is 'older', I thought it would be fun to have him involved with someone even older than him!
Good chapter - I loved that Hermione woke up and did not marry Ron and that Severus was silently applauding her from the pew. What a cliffie at the end - makes you wonder what she was going to tell Severus.
Response from Kailin (Author of Doing Time with Hermione Granger)
I don't wonder, I know what she was going to tell him!
Loved the 4th chapter- the elf picnic was cute. Severus helping Mrs. Granger was good and then the ice breaker - the small kiss - really good work.
Response from Kailin (Author of Doing Time with Hermione Granger)
I thought it would be interesting to have Snape become closer to Hermione's parents before they started becoming involved.
Liked this chapter - funny that they got the wrong house- great second project for Severus to spend his community service on
Response from Kailin (Author of Doing Time with Hermione Granger)
He'll never let her forget it, you know.
Good chapter- interesting that Hermione would lose it and need help with studies but after all she had been through a war. Great interaction between her and Snape.
Response from Kailin (Author of Doing Time with Hermione Granger)
Even the best and the brightest can lose it - especially after she had to hold Harry and Ron together for the better part of a year. Hermione had to switch gears and found she couldn't do it, something which had to be terribly difficult for someone so accustomed to success.
Excellent after life scene - really good writing

heh-heh! must be true love, if he's willing to help with Elf-Fest the rest of his life. well, helping elves can't be worse than serving as a Death Eater spy... thanks for the most enjoyable story!!

Sweet. And I did like the slow build up.

Yup - it's the only way to go for those two.

You know, I'm really glad I held off reading this story until it finished, because now I'm going to re-read it with just as much enjoyment as the first read!
This was a wonderful story, realistically done - thank you so much for sharing it! (And making it non-angsty!)
Response from Kailin (Author of Doing Time with Hermione Granger)
Thanks! I can manage a chapter or two of angst, but that's about my limit. On to the romance!

I've always thought it more likely that Hermione would have to "grow" on Severus. His feelings for her wouldn't just switch from dislike to love. It would have to come in stages... dislike to neutrality, neutrality to tolerance, tolerance to approval, approval to friendship, then friendship to love. I think you have captured that slow development well.
Great job!
Response from Kailin (Author of Doing Time with Hermione Granger)
Thanks! He certainly wouldn't be one to fall head over heels, would he?

I also thought it necessary for Severus and Hermione to take things rather slowly – hence the five year time frame. One of the reviewers put it best, calling it a ‘long, slow slide into love.’ It’s almost like love has to sneak up on the two of them to stand a chance; given how intelligent they are, they’d otherwise spot it a mile off and throw up defenses that would take years and years to abolish. I had to fool them.
I agree. I think both of them would be too completely horrified at the idea to not run screaming. I'm using a somewhat similar tactic in my own story (they start working together professionally when she's 17, and by the time then end up as COUPLE, she's at least 25. Maybe a few years older?) Fics that have them getting together immediately always bug me. It doesn't work well for either of them, IMNSHO.
While I knew from the beginning that canon Ron and Hermione were destined for each other (I could just hear Ron telling his child one day that “the first time I met your Mum, she told me I had dirt on my nose”), I maintain that they’re really not that well-suited. And I know that if you’re reading this, you probably agree with me. My motto is ‘Canon is fine if you like that sort of thing…’
Agreed. I couldn't figure out the Harmonians at all, and initially SS/HG really squicked me because I, too, could see that Jo was setting RW/HG up, but honestly, IS there a more atrociously mismatched couple in the entire series??? TWO of the three things Hermione smells in Amortentia are related to books. I'm not even sure Ron can read! That's such a fundamental difference it's an utterly irreconcilable incompatibility.
And by the way – I’m not making a cent off this, and the word ‘lexicon’ is to be found nowhere in this entire story, so a lawsuit would be really, really a bad idea…
*SNORT*
Thanks for the story!

You're welcome! And while I'm sure that Ron can read, I think the extent of his interest in doing so could be neatly contained within the confines of the sports page of the Daily Prophet!

Very cute. Wonderful job!
I can't believe this was originally going to be angst!
Putting on my favorites list.

I think I had planned to have Severus and Hermione drawn together by their mutual suffering. I'll leave that plot bunny to someone with a darker frame of mind.

Ahh I love the ending. I too agree that You have to sneak up on these two. I hope I do as well in the fic that I am attempting.

Thanks! And I'll look forward to your fic soon, I hope.

The longer is about half done, but I do have a one shot already posted. It is called Contemplations.

I have enjoyed this story very much and am sorry to see it end, (although it ended most satisfactorily.) Thank you so much for this delightful tale. I agree that fast falling in love would not be for Hermione and Severus. I'm so glad you had Lynette Granger recover, and I think it neat that Severus got to spend time with her on the plane flights and in New York before he ever admitted to feelings for Hermione.
Response from Kailin (Author of Doing Time with Hermione Granger)
Thanks. I suppose I could have shortened Snape's term of community service, but I really wanted them to mature into each other, so to speak. And I thought it would be interesting to have Severus become closer to Hermione's parents beforehand. I also wanted to have Harry on decent speaking terms with him (although woe betide Severus if he ever mistreats Hermione!).

Brilliant. I love this story. It started out very dramatic but ended up a little bit fluffy (if I dare say that) - totally brilliant!

Thanks! There has to be angst somewhere in there if Snape's in it...
